I now have 2 of these, and I absolutely love these over the SB-900. They're quick with fast recycle time, relatively quiet and powerful.

I just received my unit and am very excited to try it out, and perhaps this is not a big deal for some, but I thought I should point out that even if purchased new, don't expect a printed User Manual. It appears the SB-910 is being discontinued and replaced with the SB-5000, and no doubt everyone has noticed the SB-910 is getting hard to find new, and expensive (I just paid $624 at Amazon). My unit appears to have been intended for Poland, though no mention at Amazon that it was an imported product. Everything else was included in the nice padded case - the stand, diffuser, and two color filters. But there was no manual, and I now see it is not listed here at nikonusa.com as being included in the box. Kind of sad because I for one prefer having the physical manual to peruse. I will try to secure one from Nikon. In any case, it is a beautiful flash unit and I am very much looking forward to using it, after spending the last 35 years with a Sunpak Auto 433D!

This flash is far superior then any flash I have used for a Nikon camera. The automatic metering is great even for beginners this flash is extremely easy to set up and use.

So far this has exceeded my desires. Very user friendly, works well with my soft box and my better beamer but also works great bouncing off the walls. Plenty of power and speed. I shoot many different things and this has all the versatility I was looking for in a speed light.

I don't say that the SB-910 "improves" the SB-900, but rather that it corrects it. In other words, you don't get the fast overheating that puts a crimp on using the flash while shooting an event. Of course, the SB-910 comes in a more compact holder, and the pre-colored incandescent and fluorescent flash filters are a very nice touch. This is a very powerful flash that works easily with my D700, D750, and DF. If you need to shoot any event where you're concerned about adequate light, this is probably the best Nikon flash. Yes, it is not inexpensive; but if you need something that delivers then it delivers.

From day 1, we have been very impressed with the ease of use as well as the quality of pictures taken using this flash. The amount of flashes and the quickness of recharging easily makes this unit the best flash in our mobile setup. Hooking it up and just flashing using auto settings is nearly fool proof, yet this flash is completely adjustable to go from wow to award winning. Stop questioning yourself and just buy one. You may end up like our photography team and have everyone on your crew wanting one...

I bought the SB-910 because I wanted something less bulky for small setups than the studio strobes I'm used to. I've connected it to a third party wireless transceiver via PC sync cord and had no problems triggering the flash. I also used the SB-910 off camera placing it on the stand it comes with and am able to control with my camera using commander mode to make TTL adjustments as necessary. When attached to the camera hot shoe, it fits securely, and performed nonstop at corporate events I photographed. I'm glad it came with a comprehensive manual which I've had to refer to a few times to make the most of the SB-910 as I explore creative possibilities. I've had the SB-910 for a couple of years now and is still a very reliable unit.

Its powerful, its fast, its light and portable, the only thing I wish is that is that Nikon incorporated radio technology when they made this to replace the SB-900.

I have two of these flashes for portraits, coupled with a sb900 and sb600. The flashes are all flawless, can reach out and iluminate a 30 X 70 room. Or softly light a closeup portrait setup thru D810 commander mode. But the menus are confusing and hard to use. That makes these only useful for a pro who uses them often enough to remember how to set them to get maximum results.

I have the SB 910 for just one day. Right out of the box, I am very satisfied. As I have said previously, when you work with a system, there is no reason to go outside the box and purchase an inferior product. Just the feel upon opening the box you have your answer. There are many compatible products on the shelf that are quite a bit lower in price, but you get what you pay for when purchasing a Nikon product. Quality build and works exactly the way it was designed. I will now be using this along with two SB 600 and a SU 800 I previously have been working with. I primarily shoot with a D7100, MBD15 battery grip and a 17X55 mm F2.8. Original manufactured products are the only way to go..Just add your creativity and you will be very satisfied.

Just used the flash for an event in extremely low light circumstances and found it to be very effective. I'm looking forward to learning more about all things this bad-boy can do!

Used this flash on my D800 on a 'photo safari' in Costa Rica and, literally 'learned on the go'. Straightforward instructions for common use and I was shooting from day 1. Gives a good range of power from 1/1 to 1/128 power for lots of control over effect.

I"ve owned various nikon speedlights, through the years, the 910 in my opinion, incorporates all of what was missing in previous versions, such as the 900, bravo, Nikon for making such a fine speelight, as the 910

Menu can be a bit confusing at first but the on/off/selector knob/switch is a great improvement over the SB-800's controls. Easily switch from flash to master to remote in just the flick of a switch. Works great with the D4. Included filters are great for correcting white balance in normally lit rooms. It's a lot of money, but the Nikon Creative Lighting system works so well. I have two of them now along with a bunch of SB-800s.

Retired Professional now uses this for just about everything. I don't care for the direct light of any standard flash and this one more than fits the bill for indirect and bounce. A bit expensive and noticeably heavy, but as always with Nikon, you get what you pay for.

Pros: Very easy to use despite the unintuitive menu system, seems well built, not very heavy. This should do just about anything you could ask it to. Localized documentation, so rare these days. Rather than 10 pages of information written in 200 languages, its 2 languages for my region in separate manuals. Cons: 1. Very large, much larger than the sb-600 form factor that some seem to really like. 2. Too expensive to be practical enough to buy more than one of them, if you need more than one you are better off buying this one unit then getting some very cheap ones as remotes such as a yonyo speedlight. 3. Uses LOTS of batteries, the batteries provided with the unit by adorama give fast cycle time but they discharge completely within 48 hours regardless of how little you actually used it. 4. The AF assist infared light is good but it does not seem to help in some situations where my D800E still fumbles around for proper focal lock during AF operation. This is more of a camera issue than anything else. Love this thing but your best option if thats possible is to get an external power pack and fire it from that. Nikon needs to get with the program and provide 3rd party flash controllers (cyber commander etc) the tools needed to fully configure and control them remotely.

The Nikon SB-910 has many improvements over my previous Nikon SB-800 Flash. Somewhat intuitive, lightweight and sturdy. I am very pleased with the performance and do not regret upgrading to the SB-910.

I had no idea how far flash had come. I hadn't shot with one in years. Everything I've been doing has been with available light. I can't believe what I deprived myself of by ignoring the flash medium. It has added an order of quality magnitude to everything I've shot lately. I can't say enough positive things about this unit coupled to my D7000 Nikon. Superb build quality and performance that should last a very long time.

I use this flash for wedding and event coverage, both as on camera flash and off camera flash needing to switch it to a Remote TTL flash and as On camera. The flash mode switch makes it quick and easy, no more need to go through the menu. Also the zoom head position make is very easy to bounce flash in any direction due to the ability of the flash head to turn right or left. If you want fast recycling you will need the Nikon SD-9 battery pack which is a must for event coverage. It has none of the overheating problems of the SB-900 and did not feel less powerful than my older SB-800 due to the zoom head illumination setting efficiency.

I purchased the SB-910 several months ago. Yes the price tag is a bit high however the SB-910 is made in Japan accounting for some of the higher price than say the SB700. Overall it is and extremely good versatile flash, definitely pro level. The SB-910 is slightly larger in size than the SB-700 and the old SB-800. The Graphic User interface is excellent. It is very easy to switch modes and features. The dedicated function buttons (which change functions when a different mode is used), adds to the versatility of the flash. The flash has modeling flash capability via the menu options. I also like the fact that as a pro level flash one has the option to select between iTTL and TTL flash modes, not an option on the SB700. Some of the modes of the flash are: flash value lock, repeating, manual, auto aperture and advanced wireless flash, The flash in Commander Mode can control 3 other flashes. The flash comes with a flash stand, fluorescent filter and an incandescent filter. The flash also comes with a diffuser dome, not to mention the built in diffuser panel. If you use a flash in your photography often whether pro or serious amateur often the SB-910 is flash is worth serious consideration.

One of the greatest experiences I regularly have as a photographer is glimpsing the tiny miracles of nature that come to light through close-up photography.
It's not (just) about the gear.So – here it is: Being a professional photographer for the last 10+ years, you’d think it wouldn’t surprise me that many people in this industry are very, very interested in the gear you use..
No space? No problem! Here's how you can set up a studio in a small space. You need two things to set up a home studio: First, the physical space to place the gear, and second, the will to do it, which is often the only thing standing between you and setting up a home studio.
Breaking into photojournalism isn't easy. In fact, it's arguably more challenging now than ever. But having the right basic equipment will help you get started.
Impressive, powerful features to the smallest of its details.

As a semi-professional photographer that I am, I can attest that the SB-910 speedlight will be an indispensable, almost addictive professional’s light instrument for years to come; it is big and a bit heavy, which clearly tell of it’s strength and powerful features it contains; it has a large, lit screen which is easy to read even from a few feet away, and all the data you need to know, it will be displayed right on it. the SB-910 is compatible (and the King) with Nikon’s Creative Lighting Sy...

Outstanding TTl flash yet from Nikon

Despite a previous review from BJ, I have yet had any problems with the SB910 with remote transceivers as long as you start from the top down on turning power on, start with the Flash head then the Transceiver, then turn on transmitter attached to camera then camera, then reverser order when shutting down. I as well don't want to bore you with critiques that have already been said on other reviews except that it plows under the over heat problems that the SB900 was plagued with in fast or lo...
