This is my first time using a Teleconverter, it is exactly what I was looking for

The teleconverter takes some getting used to. I photograph wildlife. The key seem to be get the focus on something larger in the area, then move to the subject and refine. It is hard to be super spontaneous without extensive practice with this extender.

I?m only an enthusiast. Not a professional. But I?ve found that this converter slows my focus time considerably. I?m mostly outside shooting outdoor sports. I pair it with the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2, which I love. I don?t know if it?s just me or the teleconverter itself. Again, I?m not a professional so I?m reviewing this on the simplest of terms.

If you?re unsure about buying this?do not question it! It?s a game changer! Buy it!!! I was having a hard time getting the bald eagle shots I wanted but with this I was able to capture the best photos of them!! I do not have anything negative to say about this product.

Didn't seem to produce the same quality captures as just the lens. I use Rebel Ti7 with Tamron 150-600 G2. I love my captures with this lens. But when I added the teleconverter and took a series of photos, I was not happy with the quality of the photos. I ended up returning it. But to be fair, perhaps it was my skills and not the teleconverter.

Good and sharp, but some focusing must be done in live view.

The extender definitely helps in long reach situations but it has it's limitations. I contacted Tamron as I was concerned with some issues I was having. They informed me that the extender works differently depending on the camera body it is used on. I have a Nikond7500. For me, it will autofocus up to about 300mm. Past that I either have to use live view for autofocus or just manual focus. According to them that is how it should work on my camera body. So if that's a concern you may want to contact Tamron to see the compatibility it has with your specific equipment.

I added this converter to my new Tamron 150-600 G2 as the old 2X doesn't work with the G2. I already knew the G2 was a distinct improvement over the original but I was apprehensive about the converter because I couldn't find any online reviews. Well, this is mine. The new model of the 2X takes nothing away from the improvements in the G2. Like its predecessor it's necessary to shift to manual focus but that's due to the light needs of Tamron's autofocus system

I looked on Tamron and researched the teleconverter. It said that it was compatible with the 150-600 range lens. I was so excited! It focused wonderfully at 150, but once I extended it to the 600, it would not focus on anything. I ended up returning it.

Works great with my 70-200mm G2. Was able to get some decent bird shots even in the winter sun. Cant wait for summer!

Bought to take football and wrestling shots, very helpful in getting farther away so I don’t have to move so much

this worked great with the tamron 70-200 f2.8 g2 lens. it really helped with the D-day ohio event as they keep you back from the action for safety. i was also able to get great shots of the planes as they went by.

Images seem to be of very good quality, I am taking it on vacation to Alaska, will know better after my return. I am using only with the Tamron 70-200mm lens. It works seamlessly with this lens. No focusing problems noted as yet. I shoot with a Canon 6D mkII.

This teleconverter delivers as advertised. I cannot stress enough that while the paperwork says it is the equivalent of 2 stops my camera sees it as adding 3 stops. While this may not be a deal breaker it is important to note that a lens at 2.8 allows the camera to focus much more quickly than a lens at 5.8 and it can be hard to remember how much performance has been compromised when this teleconverter is in use. It feels a bit like running a sports car on two cylinders...

I purchased the Tamron 1.4x teleconverter to be used with my Tamron SP 70-200mm G2 f/2.8 VC, Nikon mount on my D750 full frame dslr. It ha exceeded my expectations giving me 280mm on the long end. Even shooting handheld my photos have been sharp. Now I’m considering buying the Tamron 2.0x G2 as well which will give me 400mm whenever I need a little more reach.

I bought the series II version of the Tamron's SP 150-600 when I already owned a Canon 100-400 L IS II zoom, because of its good reviews and because, un-supplemented by tele-conversion, it was capable of 600 mm. Once I receive it, I was very pleased with the performance of my Tamron, which I use on a full frame Canon camera in conjunction with a second camera equipped with a more powerful Canon prime lens. (I use the zoom for shots where the longer lens is too long and for ones made from my vehicle out the passenger window where the weight of my prime lens makes it harder for me to hand hold steadily.) Thus, I did not consider that I needed to supplement the power of my zoom, unless I were hiking or traveling without a longer prime. Still, I reasoned that a 1.4 would put the lens potentially in the magnification class of my prime, if the combination were sharp enough and capable of auto-focusing with my Canon cameras. (Canon camera and lens combinations will not auto-focus above f 8, but I knew other photographers who had successfully auto-focused with Sigma or Tamron lens above what Canon firmware allowed with a strictly Canon combination.) I tried using Canon and Sigma tele-converters with the Tamaron zoom without success. After debating for some time, I decided to buy a Tamron 1.4 to see how it would function with my zoom and my Canon cameras. To economize, I bought a used tele-converter from Adorama in "D" condition. When it arrived I began testing it with several of my Canon cameras. None which were designed to auto-focus at f 5.6 could auto-focus this combination. Of those designed to auto-focus at f 8, each tried to focus. I determined that each would auto-focus on sufficiently bright days. In low light conditions, each had trouble, and none would produce sufficiently sharp images, unless I did final focus adjustment manually. (Since sharpness was possible I suspected that the problem was one of the spacing being slightly off between lens and tel-converter,related to poor quality control in manufacturing. I returned the converter to Adorama and spent the extra $40 for a new copy. Its low light performance was similar to the first, but the sharpness of auto-focusing was improved. So far it appears that this combination will provide sufficiently sharp images using auto-focus for serious wildlife shooting on bright enough days with a Canon camera capable of high enough ISOs to allow both decent shutter speeds and the ability to stop down a full stop slower than wide open. (Of the three models I have tested, only the 5D, Mark III was capable of high enough usable ISOs to allow for such a combination at the light levels as I first tested it. The other models were the 7D Mark II, and the 5DSR.) I am reasonably confident that all three will take reasonably sharp images on bright enough days. If so, this combination will have little utility for me. The two scenarios when this combination would be useful would be when I was traveling light enough that I chose not to bring a Canon super telephoto prime with me or when I was hiking far enough from a vehicle that I chose not to carry the weight of a prime super telephoto. Hopefully, this review will shed light for other Canon shooters on what kind of performance they can expect using this tele-converter with Tamron SP 150-600 mm series II zooms. Based on my experience, I would advise that, should you decide to buy such a combination, buy both the lens and the tele-converter new, and be prepared to return either if it is not sufficiently sharp. (Exchanging for another copy of the same model may provide improved performance.) Don't buy the combination at all if your only Canon camera is one designed to auto-focus no higher than f 5.6, unless you are willing to use the lens at full power only by manual focusing. If you have a Canon designed to auto-focus at f 8, be prepared to settle for decent auto-focus performance only in bright lighting conditions. The higher the usable ISOs of which your camera is capable, the lower the light levels at which this lens will be usable. (I can get decent images relative to noise at 12,800 with my 5D Mark III, but consider any ISOs above 1,600 to be excessively noisy with a 7D Mark II or 5DSR.) Beyond that, you will have to decide whether a bright light lens-combination such as this is worth the extra money to buy a Tamron 1.4 tele-converter. (My guess is that this tele-converter would provide more satisfactory results in combination with Tamron's 70-200 mm f 2.8 zoom lens, since that lens is three and a third stops faster. It would probably also function with 2x Tamron tele-converter, since that combination would top out at f 5.6 rather than at f 14.

I read all the reviews, went on You Tube and watched the reviews there, and I am very happy with the 2x. Auto focus works great on my Tamron 70-200. Not al all on the Tamron150-600. But I did not expect it to. I only use that lense for close up's on animals, and do not mind having to manually focus. And it brings the subject Way in.

Adding the 2x Teleconverter to my Tamron 70-200mm G2 gives me a nice 400mm 5.6 on the long end. Very well made solid feel when attached.

I am happy with the additional length gained by the use this teleconverter but don't understand why (at this price) I can not ever use anything other than manual focus; regardless of the amount of available light. My primary use is for wildlife, specifically Osprey and Eagles, so the lack of AF doesn't override the bonus of additional length.

Was buying a Tamron 70-200mm G2 and this adds so extra focal length. Happy with the results when birding in my local area.

At present not satisfied with the TC-20X converter. Can not get any sharp images with the 2X converter on my Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens... Just as a note the lens becomes a manual focus lens using the TC-20X converter and needs to be hand manual focused... I also use my LV on my Nikon D750 dslr and zoom in on a subject to try and get sharp focus but can not for what ever reason... Contacted Tamron and they can not help... Tested the 150-600mm G2 lens at all zoom ranges with one center focus point and get sharp images (no front to back out of focus issues)... I have the Tamron Tap in console with downloaded firmware Ver 1.3.0....No issues found running the focus test...

I have a Nikon D500 with the Tamron 70-200mm G2. This teleconverter works quite well. With the D500's high ISO I don't worry about the the f-stop hit. With MY camera and the G2 zoom, I do not have any problems with focus or the vibration reduction. Both seem to transfer just fine with the teleconverter installed.

If you have a compatible Tamron lens, this is a must. I had serious doubts. Teleconverters have come a long way and this is no exception. Taking pictures of the moon and the craters stand right out. Birds.....the feathers stand out. Very sharp piece of equipment.

Haven't had time to really put it through a trial, but it seems to be perfectly mated to there 70-200. Was a little worried after reading the reviews with the 150-600,. can't comment about that, but NO problems with slow focusing with the 70-200.

Increases maximum focal length
Although the maximum focal length is increased, the minimum object distance remains nearly the same, so the magnification ratio during close focusing is enhanced. This tele converter is carefully designed and constructed to preserve the original superior image quality of the lens. BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating is deployed on this model to help minimize ghosting and flare.
Design Concept
This accessory embodies Tamron's new design that's born from the pursuit of functional beauty and achieved by smoothly blending engineering and design enhancements. Meticulous craftsmanship is applied to every detail. This new teleconverter features a metal lens barrel and share this same design concept. It provides remarkable ease of use-even the release lever offers a comfortable touch to the photographer's finger.Compatible with Canon EOS DSLR cameras.
