I'm an AC who also sometimes shoots and this is the best all around monitor for me. I have a 5" TVLogic monitor and while it has been a great workhorse I can already tell this monitor will be my new go to. It has a very bright screen for daylight viewing which is perfect without needing a hood or other sun shades. It has really good software that gets updated often by SmallHD. It has lots of common features (like focus assist, false color, waveform, pixel to pixel, etc.) that you can setup to be on different viewing "pages". That way you can quickly flip through each page depending on what you need at that moment. Each page is customizable so I can have features that I would use for focus pulling on one page and ones for shooting on another page. The whole thing is built well and the screen is very sharp and color accurate. If you need a monitor that can do a whole lot of things on set at a moments notice this is a great choice.

This monitor compares to no other when it comes to daylight viewable handheld monitors. The thing is, the panel is extremely flawed. I've had the panel replaced 3 times and everyone has issues. First, every panel you get with have dead/stuck pixels. SmallHD only replaces them if they have 3 or more. Mine had 3 so I got it replaced. They replaced it with one that had 14 stuck pixels... That will tell you all you need to know about their quality control. The next bigger issue is the panel will flash RGB lines with the previous firmware. The most recent beta firmware makes it only flash blue lines. I had this issue on all 3 panels they gave me and originally saying it was an issue with my panel and not with every panel. Now after the 3rd replacement and it still happening they are claiming it's a characteristic of this panel and is in all of them. If you are using it as a focus monitor, it can be extremely distracting. If you are using it as a field monitor then you can get by without noticing it as much. You will mostly notice it flashing with darker images because the blue stands out that much more. When out in daylight and you have a bright image on screen, it blends in much more. If you need a daylight viewable monitor, it's great, but be aware of the drawbacks.
