Works really well and a great price. Yeah there are many shotguns out there but this one does a pretty good job . sound is clear , only has been tested when used a boom.

Have worked with several other shotgun microphones and the Rode NTG 2 had exceptional clarity. I have the microphone mounted on an E-Image boom and a Rode Transmitter. For dramatic and mild action scenes it delivered excellent quality audio and separation from unwanted frequency hum.

I paired this microphone with my C100 for a wedding recently. Even though it was in the back of the church, I was able to pick up the officiant, along with ambient crowd noises. I also use this when I make my short films at home. I chose this mic over the others because I love the Røde brand and it's quality. Also, I couldn't afford the NTG-3. For the price, you can't beat the audio and build quality!

Great mic. Price is a little steep, but this mic is great for indoor and outdoor use. With a dead cat it is pretty much noise free outdoors.

I gave it a three star "Meh" rating because the kit did not contain a short XLR cord to attach mic to the camera, just a 20" monster you can't drag around easily. It comes with a camera mount, so why no cord?

I shot a video, used this shotgun mic right over our heads, didn't really pick up that much sound.

The Rode NTG2 Battery or Phantom Powered Condenser Shotgun Microphone is a versatile, high-quality audio recording device, expertly engineered for professional use across various industries including film, video, television, and production. This lightweight microphone, weighing just 5.7 oz (161g without battery), is designed with a supercardioid polar pattern, making it an exceptional tool for capturing focused audio while minimizing background noise.
Boasting a full frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz, this microphone delivers crystal-clear audio transparency, making it an ideal choice for film, video, and voice-over applications. To further enhance its audio performance, the NTG2 features a selectable high-pass filter at 80Hz, effectively eliminating low-end noise such as air conditioners and traffic, ensuring your recordings are free from unwanted disturbances.
The NTG2 microphone offers dual power options, operating either from a single AA (1.5V) battery or P48 phantom power, which can be supplied by professional cameras, audio recorders, and power supplies. This flexibility makes it a perfect companion for scenarios where the camera does not supply phantom power, such as DSLR video recording.
Included with the microphone is the WSVM windshield, designed to minimize light wind noise and plosives during recording. For outdoor applications, the optional 'DeadCat' furry is recommended (sold separately) to further reduce wind noise.
Designed and manufactured in Australia by Rode, a globally respected brand in the audio equipment industry, the NTG2 Shotgun Microphone embodies durability, reliability, and superior audio quality. This microphone is an excellent choice for professionals seeking a portable, versatile, and high-performing audio recording solution.
