This is such an amazing product, and adorama deleivered the product with ease. The shogun really helped enhance my production and with the screen being so big but small enough to be portable was a huge help with setting up shots.

Have used it a handful of times already since purchasing it, and I'm really loving it so far. Great quality, perfect size, and the external recording capabilities are a god-send. Adorama was quick to ship as well.

It is a very nice monitor. Perfect for almost any use except one. The only issue I have with this monitor is that it is slightly heavier than the competition. This makes it so that when it is mounted directly on top of the camera (for run and gun) it makes the camera very top heavy (especially with more than one battery) otherwise the monitor is beautiful and I love it. Another thing I'd like to add is that online reviewers say that the touch screen is sometimes not responsive. I'm running the latest version of the firmware and I do have to say that this screen has been working just as well as my iPhone. Perfect!

Compact, usefull, reliable and practical. Owner of a field video recorder without monitor, this one saves time and space. One of the few applications that I use it for is a cooking program; with airs on Mega TV at 1pm on week days.

I'm just starting to explore Slog and this device ready let me see what I'm doing when I dial in the Picture Profile settings in the field. It helps me produce very nice HDR video even when shooting in the midafternoon sun. The sunshade works pretty well. It is very light tight however, I still get a reflection of my eyes and the viewing slot. Maybe adding a little foam around it might help that. A little graffers tape will help keep it on the monitor. Very happy with the purchase

I'm using a Nikon D750, it is not as ez to hook the two up as i thought the steps to get a clean signal out to the HDMI port not shutting off every ten minutes, is a bear Lots of little steps I'm learning as i go the quality is outstanding. you need a way to get the file out to a computer this will require a extra do-da the file works fine with Final Cut Pro x

I love this thing. It's a great monitor, and having an edit friendly ProRes 422 ready to go at the end of the shoot saves a lot of time in post. First copy failed almost immediately. Second one seems great. Wish it came with a hood.

I own an FS5 and recently installed the RAW upgrade. I use the Shogun Flame as my RAW recorder now (with a 1TB Samsung SSD). The display is gorgeous and the interface is easy to use and follow. The extra accessories (sun/glare guard, drive caddies, cables, batteries, etc.) are very helpful and Adorama offered the bundle for a fantastic price. Highly satisfied with this. I also like that Atomos doesn't require users to pay to upgrade. Very consumer-friendly company.

I would recommend the Shogun Flame to anyone in video production on any level. I purchase the Atomos Ninja 2 about a year ago great product, but it does not compare to the Shogun Flame I recently purchase. The Atomos Shogun Flame is a must have for video production. I use it with my Canon C100 camera.

I purchased this to act as a high bright monitor on my gimbal, I was tired of squinting to see tiny screens and double check focus. I played with the SmallHD702 and was not impressed. Picked up the Shogun Flame on a whim and I'm absolutely in love. The ability to add a LUT or REC709 overlay with one finger is great when running between camera modes. Pixel density and the plethora of focus/exposure tools make this wonderful as both an AC monitor or as an on camera/small client monitor. It's as accurate as my viewfinder for color reproduction. Highly Recommend this toy and you Cannot beat the price

I love the Flame. I've never used an external video recorder before, nor have I ever used any HDR features. This is really easy to learn. I was shooting within 30 minutes. It records incredible footage and comes really well equipped with a pelican-like hard case for transport. My only qualm is with the included shoe mount. It's not that strong and has given me some scares as it dipped while on a camera.

I have to preface this that I am coming form using the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q. Compared to that, the interface is a dream! It is so easy and logical. The image quality is great and the on screen tools are such a help. It also comes with everything you need in the case for a lower price! The only negative I have is that the fan noise is pretty loud. The 7q had no fan at all so this was surprising to hear. I would guess 95% of my shoots it will not make a difference, but in a close intimate shoot I am pretty sure you will hear it. One nit pick I also have is that the 7Q had the ability to add your own custom on screen guides. So I built a rule of thirds guide. This monitor doesn't have that and I wish it did because I use it all the time for shot composition.

Works great with my A7S
AdoramaTV had the chance to take a look at the newly introduced 7″ HDR 4K recording monitors from Atomos, the Shogun Flame and Ninja Flame. Both monitors feature High Dynamic Range video, the brightest monitors yet as well as a hot-swap dual battery system that allows for uninterrupted shooting. The new charger is also three times faster than previous models and these new monitors have a tough exterior making them ready for any working conditions.
Shogun Flame
Change the way you shoot with Log. Record Log in 4K or HD ProRes/DNxHR from video or raw cameras with the Shogun Flame's HDMI or SDI inputs and thanks to the AtomHDR engine's combination of 10+ stops dynamic range, 1500nit brightness and 10-bit color processing you can monitor the HDR Log with vivid, natural colors.
ProRes
4K 30p
Atom HDR 10 bit

Get Ahead of the Log Curve
Atom HDR - Shoot What You See
Cameras with Log output (S-Log2, S-Log3, C-Log, V-Log etc) already have the 10+ stops of dynamic range needed for High Dynamic Range (HDR). Be at the forefront of the HDR revolution sweeping the industry by having a field monitor capable of resolving HDR in the field as you see it in Post Production and record the original Log image direct from the sensor for HDR grading in post production.
Scenes Ignite with 1500 Nits of Light
Not all scenes call for HDR Log recording. In situations that don't call for 10 stops of dynamic range, use the intensity of the 1500nit panel to monitor traditional standard dynamic range (SDR/Rec709) video at high brightness for outdoor monitoring.
Simply pick the right mode, HDR or High Bright SDR, and get busy setting up your shot on the premium 7" display boasting 10-bit processing, 1920x1200 resolution, 325ppi pixel density, optional calibration to overcome natural LCD color drift and an arsenal of precision video setup tools for perfect shots every time.
Widest Camera Compatibility
The HDMI connection is compatible up to 4Kp30 and the SDI connection has compatibity up to 12G ensuring you are future proofed as the SMPTE standard updates. The built-in bi-directional conversion allows HDMI cameras to be integrated into a SDI workflow or connect SDI cameras with HDMI flat panels.
4K Raw - Unlock the Raw from Sony and Canon
Output the 4K/HD Raw from select cameras (Sony FS7/FS700 & Canon C300MKII/C500) over SDI and record direct to 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes or DNxHR. Capturing Raw using the Shogun Flame is a free feature with no additional licensing costs and lets you immediately take advantage of our affordable media platform bypassing the need for proprietary cards and media.
Record Professional 4K and HD
Recording 4K and high frame rate HD within the camera might seem enough but unless you record with the right codec you're restricting flexibility in post and even run the risk of having your footage technically rejected. Along with the high pixel density of 4K, the Shogun Flame records higher resolution 10-bit color information, more precise yet efficient 4:2:2 color encoding and to visually lossless, edit-ready codecs like Apple ProRes or AVID DNxHR. Now you're recording professionally, capturing full individual frames just like film and opening up more creativity in post and grading.
Simple OS - Sophisticated Shots
Atomos' flexible OS is packed with an extensive suite of scopes, all 1-touch away and simple to use. The Video OS includes tools for focus, framing & exposure (Focus peaking, 2:1/1:1 zoom, Zebra, False Color, Frame guides, SMPTE Safe Area, Waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope) along with a flexible 3D LUT implementation (use built-in LOG to Rec.709 Video or upload .cube files) and options for anamorphic de-squeeze monitoring.

Continuous Power Is Back - with Super Fast Charging
Atomos' patented continuous power system pioneered on their HD products are back on the 4K range. The hot swappable dual battery system that automatically swaps to the second battery when power is low, coupled with the blazingly fast battery charger and dual 4-cell batteries (both included with the product) means that continuous power in the field is all but assured.
Monitor and Record XLR Audio
The Shogun Flame has professional audio to match professional video. Monitor up to 8ch of embedded HDMI audio, up to 12ch of SDI audio or use the included XLR breakout cable to connect with external microphones for balanced analogue audio with 48V phantom power. Audio control is simple with dedicated meters and menus to select channels for recording/monitoring and adjustments for frame delay and gain.
Advanced Recording Capability
Outside of 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes/DNx, the Ninja Flame adds recording functionality not found in other recorders. Trigger start/stop recording over HDMI from select Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon cameras. Convert interlace video from your camera to progressive on the fly with built-in 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown and gain advanced functionality like Pre-roll (continuous cache recording to never miss the action) and Time lapse to maximise your creativity.
Battle-Ready! - for the Field
Atomos' built-in armor enhances protection and airflow whilst the raft of optional accessories (2 x NP series 4-cell batteries, fast battery charger, USB3 docking station, XLR breakout cable, Lanc cable, DC to D-Tap cable, 5 x Master Caddy cases, DC adapter & HDR sun hood) and the premium HPRC flight case ensures you're ready to hit the field immediately.
