Initially I purchased the 2.0 teleconverter; It did not meet my expectations as there was a loss of sharpness and contrast. I traded it in for the 1.4 and there is no comparison between the two. I have no complaints now. Incidently I use the teleconverter on my 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II.

I use the Nikon TC 14E II attached to the Nikon 300mm f4D lens to extend focal length to 420mm on D810 camera and to 630mm on D7100 camera with a bright f5.6 with very very minimal lost in resolution. With this setup, it is lighter and as sharper if not sharper than the Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 telephoto and can be handheld for extended period of time. Excellent for wildlife and bird in flight photo.

This is my first TC and have to say I am impressed! I bought it used to extend the reach on my 70-200 f2.8 VR. Photos are still very sharp and contrasty, not as much as without it though. Focus is a bit slower but that is totally acceptable. It feels very durable and I expect it to last me a long time.

Used with 300mm f/4 AFS Nikkor, an excellent match. Very sharp. Losing one f/stop is worth the extension in focal length. Little if any image degradation.

Just what I wanted at a reduced price. Have the kenko 1.4x pro and this is far superior.

Adds 40% focal length to any compatible DX/FX lens. Adds one (1) full f/stop to exposures. Easy to use; mounts easily to lens; couples to camera same as any other lens. Small in overall size, stores easily in kit bag.

I am using the telecoverter with a Nikon 300mm lens. This extend the rand by 1.4. The clarity is wonderful and works with the Nikon metering system.

I recently bought this teleconverter and the 300mm AF-S lens. Took both out yesterday and was extremely pleased with the overall result! The combination worked flawlessly!

This is my 2nd 1.4 TC, since I lost the 1st one. It works great on my DX bodies, even better on my D600.

This TC works great on my 70-200 VR and my 300mm AF-S. I have not noticed any slow down of auto focus, and the quality is what you would expect from Nikon.

Paired with the 70-200 f/2.8 II, there's practically no loss of performance (sharpness, CA, etc), and only 1 EV change in speed. This is a great accessory.

I'm using this TC on two lenses :a 70-200mm f4 & a 105mm (Macro). With the former it gives you a 280mm & a 150mm with the latter. I've compared the images side by side. The resolution, light & color is as good as the original lenses, with no noticeable reduction of quality. In fact the resolution becomes a little better with the TC, because the camera uses a smaller (one stop)aperture. Its workmanship & quality is at the highest I've seen with any lens. Highly recommended for serious photographers.

Tried it on a 70-200 2.8 and 300 f/4, no need to fine tune either with this converter. Tested IQ - superb, even pixel peeping I couldn't detect any change from the lenses tested.

Bought this teleconverter to use with the new Nikon 80-400 lens. I'm very pleased with the performance. Quick and sharp autofocus and photos are sharp out to the end of the focal length. I rented the teleconverter before buying. I'm happy with the purchase even though you lose several stops. Low light could be a problem.

I've been using this TC with a 300mm f4 Nikkor attached to a D300 and now a D600 promarily to photgraph birds in flight. It's worked perfectly. An economical alternative to the 400mm prime lens.

I've only had this for two weeks and used it once. Its a great way to turn your 70-200 f2.8 VR1 into a 90-280 f4 VR1 for only 300-400$.

Bought an AF-S TC-14E II several years ago and use it 90% of the time with my Nikkor 200-400 f/4. The other 10% is with my Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8. Both have fast focusing and sharp images. I like using it with the 70-200 lens when I am canoeing and photographing egrets, herons, ducks, etc. When I photograph wildlife with the 200-400 and the TC-14E II I have it on a tripod or monopod because of the weight of the lens. It focuses right in on bears or birds.

A great improvement over its predecessor-- the focus is faster and the optical quality is improved even wide open. Still lightweight and easily deployable. Haven't used with anything besides a 70-200 but it works very well in situations where you need just a little extra reach. I'd buy it again.

When I bought it, I failed to notice in the specs that this teleconverter will not work with many of the Nikon lenses that I have. One would think that Nikon could design products for their own lenses that will work with all of them.

This teleconverter works great with my Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 lens. I do mainly wildlife photography and I'm considering adding the 1.7x teleconverter to my bag.

Extends the reach of my 300mm lens, and helps with bird photos.

Using with a 300 prime nikkor and D7000. Teleconverters have come a long way over the years. I would never have used one 25 years ago. Awesome results with this TC and lens setup.

Bought this to give reach to 70-200 f/4. Now I get 280mm with no loss of focus or picture quality. Highly recommended! Unfortunately, I have to return it with the 70-200 f/4 because the latter lens is too heavy for my needs.

I purchased this TC to be used with the 300mm f/4 and the 500mm f/4. At infinity there is no sharp focus at all. At close distances of 15 to 20 feet you can get sharp focus. However, that is not the distance one would normally use a TC on a telephoto lens. I have even sent this TC to Nikon to be checked. They indicated it needed minor repairs. There is absolutely no improvement after sending to Nikon. I have never been disappointed in a Nikon product until now. Considering the price, and the intended purpose I am very unhappy with this purchase and would not recommend if you are planning on using on a 300 f/4 or 500 mm f/4.

The lens is sharp but it sometimes does not communicate with the lens so it stops working. I have to take the TC off the lens and reattach. The optics do not degrade the image and it does add another 40% in telephoto which is important in wildlife shots.

Sweet on the 300 2.8 vr I was going to buy a 200-400 but no need when you own this combo!

I needed another one of these and decided to buy grey market as the US models were out of stock at the time. It works perfectly. In fact, I think this works better than my other one. Would buy again.

Works well with the 600mm lens and the 70-200. Using a TC adds another layer to everything but the rsults are excellent.

I bought this for my AFS 70-200 and AFS 300 lens. I can see no deterioration of autofocus or my photos with the 70-200 or 300. The 300 takes it in stride even though it's an f/4 lens.

Great addition for a micro lens

I bought this 1.4x teleconverter to add on to my Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro lens, so I could get that little bit closer detail without losing too much quality. Losing just one stop of light and gaining 40% more focal length, this product is well worth the expense. The image clarity is still superb. Perhaps the main drawback is that it only works with the more expensive AF-S and AF-I lenses.

I bought this gem when I got my 300/4 AF-S. Provides a wonderful 420/5.6 that focuses to 4.8 feet - almost a macro lens. I also like it with my 105 macro for magnifications greater that 1:1 and more working distance. Focus speed is adequate and I notice negligible loss of sharpness even wide open. A perfect addition to any lens that can take it.
