Great compact and small prime lens that sits well at the 35mm range. Clean and sharp video quality as I use the lens mostly for video with my Sony A7S III.

I'd recommend this to people who want a compact everyday lens with good quality that doesn't break the bank. It's not quite as sharp or as fast as my other primes, but it makes it so easy to pop my camera in my bag that I tend to have it on me a lot more often now.

This is a great affordable lens that works with my a7riii. You can tell it isn't as sharp as a Sony or Sony g class but it does the job.

For the price, this is an outstanding prime lens. I agree with other reviews that it's a little soft at 2.8 but is quite clear at F4. The edges are sharper than all of my Sony brand zoom lenses as well. The filter sixe, 40.5mm is a little harder to find than 49. Unlike my other lenses, it stops down while focusing. That means, you see exactly the depth of field and bokeh you'll get in the photo. On the down side, that can make focusing a little harder in some lighting conditions.

This lens is sharp. I got a great copy and I love the value of Samyang lenses. This lens is small, light, sharp, and convenient.

This was the second E-Mount lens I bought and I love it. Excellent performance even full frame. Super light for hiking, I often use this on an A7 body for travel to make an incredibly useful combination. I even prefer it at times to my f1.4 35mm. My summer trip through glacier park, I only brought this lens on my A7 Mark 2. See included image.

I liked the lens -- light, good IQ, auto focus somewhat slow on NEX5N body but acceptable. Unfortunately, my copy developed focusing issues: despite camera reporting perfect focus, the result was unfocused, slightly blurry image even in good light and with high contrast subjects. The problem was intermittent but it happened often enough for me to return the lens. The lens firmware was 0.3 version, the camera was on the latest firmware.

Great lens- small, compact, and light. Autofocus is more than acceptable, as is the image quality for stills. For the price and image quality- this is a very good deal.

Great Value. Very nice small prime for daylight shooting. The auto focus struggles a bit in the dark.

I recently added Sonly APS-C and FF MILCs to my kit. The reason for adding MILCs was for the weight advantage. This little lens fits right in for the purpose. It's sharp at f/2.8 and very sharp at f/4. Considering it's price point you really can't go wrong with this lens if you don't need a really thin DOF.

I bought it because I wanted a small compact lens for street photography. Turns out, its a good little macro lens too, if you actually want a little wider background. The background separation is really good at its minimum focus distance of around 13 inches.

If you want a pancake lens (with AF!) for Sony FE mount, look no further. I give this 5 stars in comparison to other small lenses. The only comparison to this lens (at similar focal length) is the Sony 35mm 2.8, at nearly $. The Sony lens will get you better image quality(for pixel peepers), with slightly better AF performance, and a similar, 1oz heavier size. It's up to you whether the ~$ difference is worth it. (buy the 24mm Samyang pancake and get two for one instead of the Sony!)AF- very quick focusing, sometimes struggles in very low light. I can only hear the focus motor when forcing it to change from infinity to close focus(no noise in continuous-AF during video shooting)Sharpness/Vignetting- Heavy vignetting and corners are soft at f2.8. Center is perfect at 2.8.Color- This is only my opinion, I find the color rendition to look rather dull and dark, however this is easily changeable in post-processing.

Fantastic lens, as the likes of Sean Tucker will attest to. It's the perfect street and travel lens. On firmware v.03 it's tack sharp in the middle at 2.8 and if you stop down to f5 ish it'll be sharp across the entire frame. High build quality and excellent bokeh, it's unbelievable that this is under 300 dollars. With my A7iii it has yet to fail me in terms of image quality, bokeh, night and day shots, movement and slow shutter speed. On current firmware the Autofocus and Eye AF ware working fantastically.

I am amazed at the quality and clarity of this lens given the price. I compared side-by-side with the more expensive Sony Zeiss 35 mm pancake lens and it’s actually sharper. The size of this lens adds a whole Nother dimension of portability and functionality for me. It’s as small as one of those compact point and shoot cameras with this lens. I can actually slip it in my jacket pocket and carry it around conveniently.

This lens is fairly sharp and the AF is fine for all but fast moving subjects. I have it on an A7 and fine the combination makes a great street camera.

This Samyang 35mm lens is now my walk around lens. The compact size mounted on my Sony A7iii makes this a vest pocket camera. Reasonably fast auto focus speed that is quiet...

I use the Samyang 35mm f2.8 on a Sony A7ii as my everyday walk around lens. IQ is simply that of a good quality prime especially at 4.0 and up. Images at 2.8 are certainly very usable but a pixel peeper will notice some lack of sharpness in the corners. Colors are realistic. Size is a real plus with this lens. Makes a very nice combination with the A7ii, easy to carry for extended periods of time. Recently took some night photos at the beach and was very pleased with the results. Did require a tripod, f4.0 and ISO 640. I own the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 and feel that stopped down the Samyang competes, not the same but it does hold its own.

Nice, easy to use and carry lens. Automatic focus is fast and accuatate on my Sony A73. Great 35mm for the cost.

Very Light Yet Capable Lens
By Joon N.
Just received mine today. Paired it with my A7Riii for street photography and family snaps, and it has been flawless so far. I think the initial batch must have had a bad firmware. Mine is very silent, and quite quick with AF. I am liking the fact that the combination of the light weights of the lens and the body makes it a really portable full frame camera. I could see it being a really nice lens to accompany the newly announced A7iii.
Great little lens for both APS-C and FF

I recently added Sonly APS-C and FF MILCs to my kit. The reason for adding MILCs was for the weight advantage. This little lens fits right in for the purpose. It's sharp at f/2.8 and very sharp at f/4. Considering it's price point you really can't go wrong with this lens if you don't need a really thin DOF.
A superslim and compact 35mm offering from Samyang, this lens features a two-element aspherical optics construction, as well as snappy autofocus and full-frame capability. The lens can focus as close as 1.14 feet (35 cm), and has a maximum aperture of f/2.8.
Thanks to the lens's standard 49mm filter mount, finding filters, hoods, and lens caps is easier than with some other compact lenses on the market. The lens also weighs in at just over 3 ounces, making it a lightweight and low-profile option for photographers on the go.
