Best on the market

By far the sturdiest most versatile tripod I've ever bought .

Good quality at a good price.

I waited to order this at a lower price but then the prices went up so I bought it at the higher price and am still happy with the purchase. Quality is pretty good. I added an arca swiss adapter so I can use it with my MILC.

Good quality for the price

It does its job. Not too heavy in lbs, but holds a nice sized cinema rig with no issue.

Good stuff from MAnfrotto

looks just like the photo. Works very well. Am satisfied. took a bit to overcome the return spring, wish they didn't put on on this model as my Canon XA-11 is a light camera and the return spring is a bit much.

Stable and not too heavy

Love it, stable and not too heavy...the leveling center column is very helpful and easy to use. Perfect for DSLR or MILC!! I bought this tripod because I already have the 190x with ball head for photography and like a lot...this tripod is the same but a video version.

A fluid head to take a look at

I am very satisfied with the Manfrotto MVH500AH fluid head. I have used it with my Nikon d850 and a 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens. The head is very smooth panning and tilting. Not only is the fluid head great for video but I also used it for still photography. I would recommend getting the Manfrotto MVH500AH fluid head.

Manfrotto 500AH fluid Head for Birding scope

This head is used with a Nikon 20-60 x 82 Field Scope ( Birding ) and it works great. I would consider no other head for scoping. Solid as a rock and the best value for this application. After getting one for the scope I got a 502 for my camera rig.

Far less than I need

I purchased this product because I needed a light weight fluid head for videography during long treks. The head certainly is light but it has no way of adjusting either horizontal or vertical drag. The closest thing is to tighten or loosen the horizontal or vertical locks on the head. Not only is this imprecise, but it is impossible to pan or shift vertically smoothly. I'm sorry I bought this. I guess you get what you pay for.

Log this fluid head

I love this head so much more than the larger one that cost twice as much. (can't remember the name) It is much more sturdy despite its size. Perfect combination with the monopod.

A great little tripod and head

We bought 12 of these for use with Sony PXW-X70 camcorders. That brings our total to more than 50 Manfrotto tripods. I keep coming back to Manfrotto because they are student-proof, and if something does break, they are easy to repair. My only surprise with these is the plate does not slide in from the rear, like our others; it is a tilt-in and tighten-to-lock system. But, the plates are all interchangeable and any of our cameras will fit on any head we own.

Great Tripod

So far I have used this tripod on two shoots and it has worked great, the video head functions as it should and has given me smooth pans.

Appreciating it more each day

Once I read the manual, I was finally able to work the tripod. My old Manfrotto is over 20 years old. I really like the light weight and strenght.

Almost makes ball heads obsolete

I like the how easy this fluid head adjusts and moves. Most of the time my ball head will take a backseat to the Manfrotto fluid head.

Love the new design!

New design has quick release that you can use with existing plates you own. New design makes me want to swap all my Heads to new versions.! My favorite for small video cameras / DSLRs.

A great head for DSLR with Video. Still shot or HDV. Right weight and mass to keep the camera from getting lost in the hardware.

Good, but I would also look at the 502 head with the 055 tripod

I purchased this ti supplement the Manfrotto 502 head with the 055 tripod I previously purchased from B&H. I like the fact this head doesn't have the fluid adjustments like the 502 so I can grab it and run. But I prefer the mounting plate on the 502 to the 500 as the thumb screw seems cheap. The tripods themselves are very similar with the 055 being slight taller. Stability is about the same. I unfortunately live in a major city that doesn't have camera shops where you can look at equipment. So I purchased this sight unseen. If I could for the ($) difference I might have gone with another 502/055 combo as I believe it is more substantial for the money.

Smooth, easy-to-use tripod. Quality, but heavy!

I admit I had to read through the quick user guide/instruction manual in order to figure out exactly how to smoothly use this tripod but once I did I'm glad I made the purchase. It isn't complicated and even though the quick release plate fits a bit oddly on my Canon 6D, it's a secure fit and I feel safe using this tripod for both video and photo. The only drawback I can see is it's heavier than I expected. But that trait in a tripod isn't always a negative!

Works well

By Arne L.

At first I tried to save some money and purchase one of the bargain, sub $150 video tripods. This was false economy. While it may have been a bargain, it was apparent the build quality and the functionality was not there. It was returned and I purchased this Monfrotto tripod. The difference was significant and positive. Well thought out design and a much higher quality. At 6'4", I thought the maximum height of this tripod would possibly be an issue. I was mistaken. It functions well. ...
