f/1.1 is pure magic. It's a little soft wide open, but you really don't get much more light into a lens than what this offers. I like that it's declicked and makes life easy when using for cinematography. When used in tandem with the Anamorphot 50 I get truly cinematic shots.

The lens is small, relatively cheap and seems to be well made, but wide open the vignetting is massive, it's only acceptably sharp in the center (and remains soft towards the edges and corners even with hefty stopping down), and while the bokeh is generally soft and appealing, out-of-focus highlights can have a very bright, distinct outline which you may or may not want. Depending on the subject, you can certainly make appealing images with it, but in most respects the almost-as-fast old Canon FD 50mm 1.2 L is superior (but it costs more and you'll need to track down a used copy); and in every respect - color, contrast, sharpness, "pop," vignetting, bokeh etc wide open - the faster Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 is superior (but it costs more and is much bigger and heavier). As I already own both of those, I returned the SLR Magic. If you plan to use it only stopped down beyond, say, 1.4 or 1.8, just about any alternative would be better.

For the price this lens is perfect, little vignette on the edges. Overall great lens!

I love the lens and focusing in manual doesn't bother me with focus peaking or zoom to focus but the chromatic aberration is bad and the lens profile helps but doesn't take it completely away that's the only downfall I have with this lens personally

This lens one of only a few E-mount manual focus (not focus by wire) lenses out there. Corner sharpness at f1.1 is not all that great but by f4 it sharpens up nicely. Solid build quality and the focus ring is nice and dampened, allowing smooth cinematic focus pulls.

This lens has blades that stay almost perfectly round at nearly every aperture which makes for nice bokeh bubbles at all stops. And there are no onion rings in these bubbles. Sharpness wide open is respectable, and there is actually less "glow" than some of my favorite 1.2 speed normal lenses. I haven't looked at any tests, but suspect the vignetting numbers will be very high, corners are *extremely* dark wide open. Construction is fantastic and mine came free of dust. It is really nice to have such a fast lens, finally, in native mount. It keeps the whole kit smaller than any fast 50-55 with adapter. And if blur is what you are about, you get it here. It's a keeper for me and I didn't even buy it for video!

The SLR Magic 50mm F1.1 Cine Lens is new lens exclusive designed for Sony E mount cameras. Crafted from anodized aluminum, this lens offers both full frame (FE mount) and APS-C (E mount) coverage. Standard walk-a-round lens which opens up many new photography and cinematography creative possibilities. Georgeous bokeh (de-focused backgrounds), giving that distinct visual style, that many other lenses do not offer.
As usual with all their CINE lenses it is integrated with a smooth decoupled greared aperture ring (allows seem-less transitions of exposure) and gearing to the focus ring to allow ease of use for "follow-focus" systems. The SLR Magic 50mm Sony FE has an ultra fast aperture of F1.1 making ideally suited to available light photography. The lens is dedicated to Sony FE / E mount cameras.
