Review Summary

I'm not usually the type to write reviews for the gear I use, but the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens has impressed me so much that I feel compelled to share my experience. This might be the first-and possibly only-lens review I'll ever write. I've had this lens since 2023, and while I dabble in photography occasionally, my main focus is video work. Paired with my Canon R7, this lens has elevated my content to another level. Whether I'm shooting cinematic sequences, documentary-style footage, or short-form reels for social media, the image quality is consistently stunning. The sharpness, color rendering, and beautiful depth of field are just what you want when you're aiming for a professional look. What really sets this lens apart is its versatility. The 18-35mm focal range on an APS-C sensor is incredibly useful-it gives me enough wide-angle for vlogging or landscape shots and the ability to zoom in for more intimate or portrait-style frames, all without changing lenses. The constant f/1.8 aperture is a game-changer for low-light situations and creating a shallow depth of field. That creamy bokeh is just gorgeous. Build-wise, this thing is solid. The ART series by Sigma is known for quality, and this lens lives up to that reputation. It feels durable, premium, and ready for fieldwork. It's not the lightest lens out there, but for what it delivers, the weight is worth it. Autofocus is fast and reliable, and although it's not a native Canon RF lens, it performs incredibly well with an adapter. I haven't had any major issues-focus is accurate, and transitions are smooth enough for video work. If you're a content creator, filmmaker, or hybrid shooter looking for a lens that punches way above its price point, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 is a must-have. I genuinely believe it's one of the best investments I've made in my video gear setup.

This lens is fantastic. It's like having 4 primes in one. Quickly became a favorite and go-to for car shows, hiking, and concerts. Great sharpness and lovely bokeh at wide angles. Complements a 70-200 very nicely, I prefer it to a 24-70.

I'm very satisfied with the quality of the lens itself, but I'm dissatisfied with the lens cap. It is hard to snap on and will come off with the slightest jarring.

It's a good lense to have around if you need that range. Not the sharpest of clearest images Lot of noise. But when I needed it, I found it to function well.

I give this 3 stars not because of Sigma and the image quality that comes out of this lens, but because of Adorama not clearly describing the condition of this lens. Got it used and focus ring slips and isn't smooth. I got it looked at it was going to cost $250 to fix. I bought the lens for $450.

Is a fantastic lens. 1.8 f-stop can get a shallow depth of field even with the wide angle. Image is sharp and clean with little distortion.

Must say, this lens is quite heavy but fills good in your hand. The lens is very bright and super crisp pictures. Shooting wide open is refreshingly nice yet better at f/2.8. I purchased this lens based on reviews when paired with my 90D. I've not taken it off the camera yet! Love it!

There is a reason that everyone with a BMPCC 6K pro owns this lens. It?s the perfect go-to lens for shooting high def motion. Perfect for low light, wide, standard and super sharp outside footage.

I've had this lens for quite some time now and it's still my go-to piece of glass I use on just about every project. Super sharp, super fast, and wonderfully built. I only wished it had stabilization inside the lens but considering the cost, I'm not too surprised.

I wanted a lens that was a little sharper than my kit lens that came with my Canon T7i. The image quality is good, but the only thing that I would consider to be a negative is the 16-35mm versus the 17-55mm that I was accustomed to.

This lens is so much better than the canon lenses I had before ! I bought it specifically to shoot the northern lights in Alaska. It does an amazing job at 1.8 and low ISO to avoid noisy and grainy photos. And it is wide enough to shoot the Aurora in the vast sky.

This lens is great! It stays on my camera now seeing it?s pretty much the only lens I use now. I only wish I would?ve bought it sooner!

An amazingly fast lens for about $750. No stabilization but tack sharp and super fast. Purchased with the Blackmagic 6k pro, it?s pretty much a must have for interviews and works seamlessly with the body.

Only down side is, it's a bit heavy and no AF. If you can get past those 2 things it's one of the best crop sensor lenses out there

Fast Sigma zoom is a must have.
By RONALD C.
I just received my Sigma 18-35 F/1.8 zoom and it promptly payed it's way on a recent shoot. I spent a full day shooting candid action in a poorly lit auditorium, and came out with tack sharp images that would have been impossible with a slower lens. I've used Nikkor lenses for over 40 years, but the quality of this Sigma lens rivals the best that Nikon has to offer. As with all fast glass, the lens is as bit on the heavy side, but it will become a regular in my bag. I trav...

Best Lens I have for landscapes
By CHRIS A.
Using this on the Sony A77ii. Photos come out large and crisp, and I can crop down to a small area and still retain the clarity. You won't be sorry!
The Hyper Sonic Motor provides fast, quiet and smooth auto focusing that is well-suited for use with video applications. This AF motor can also be manually overridden at any time by rotating the focusing ring, giving you the ability to fine-tune image sharpness through manual focusing.
The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens.
