I'm mostly a novice in terms of lens specs and technical knowledge, but this one appears to be a fantastic value for the price. The build feels solid, focus/aperture rings work very smoothly, and in my limited use so far it seems to produce very nice images/video. The size is a little large for my G85 compared to other lenses, but that's nothing I didn't expect (and not the lens's fault) and it doesn't cause any issues - just had to get used to the weight distribution. Looking forward to using it more and hopefully adding another focal length or two of these to my gear kit!

I got this lens at the incredibly low price of $200. After using it for 5 minutes I was already thoroughly impressed. The sharpness falls off a little bit at t1.5, but it is pin-sharp at around t2.5. The build feels solid and high quality. The focus and aperture ring are smooth and silent. Wonderful compatibility with the ronin-sc focus wheel. I highly recommend it even at its original price.

I actually like this optics in this lens. I think they have a pretty good look. We got it as kind of our disposable lens for a couple of projects, and we still use it from time to time. The build quality isn't great, but kudos to them for being one of the first to make a geared lens that had a decent image quality. I've heard they now have versions with sturdier housings but the prices start getting on up there. If you're careful with this one and aren't super-duper critical, it's not a bad lens. Same goes for the 35mm T1.5 version. The photo is my dog at 1/50" on a small M4/3 camera. The lens was most likely wide open at T1.5, or possibly stopped down half a stop to T2.

I LOVE this lens. Overall, it's great for really hands-on filming where you're able to move around a bit and get a great tight angle on your subject, and to pull focus to exactly where you want it. The low aperture allows you a ton of latitude with depth of focus, and allows images to really bloom with light. I've shot several concert videos with it since I got it, and it's a total joy every time. Pros: - the image just looks beautiful. I find my a6300 sometimes gives overly detailed, cold-feeling pictures, and the amount of light this lens lets in really helps with that. At 1.5 or 2.8, it's sharp enough, but not, like, TOO sharp. - the build quality is crazy good for a "cheap" lens. All metal... very heavy. But good. - the focus ring is really gradual, so pulling manual focus is really, really satisfying and very accurate. At a super low aperture, you can achieve some incredible depth of field stuff, even if you're not very experienced (I'm not). Its limitations: - fixed focal length. The lens is great if you're trying to shoot a single subject, so long as you have some room to move closer or further away. It's really amazing for getting intimate shots at interesting angles. - manual zoom. If you don't want to have to deal with focusing your shot, don't get this. - no in-lens stabilization. It's a telephoto with no OSS, so you're going to have a little jitter if you're shooting handheld. - manual, fluid aperture. This is actually a selling point, but I find it very easy to accidentally nudge the aperture when I'm focusing. And with a continuous, fluid range from 1.5 to 22, you have to actually lean over and check the side of the lens to figure out if you're at the aperture you want. - the lens is heavy and bulky, so a light gimbal or steadycam might have trouble with it.

Love this whole series of lenses. Having them de-clicked makes them work wonderfully for cinema. This 85mm is particularly beautiful for close-up shots while blurring our the background with a shallow depth of field.

I have a set of the 24, 35, 50 and now 85 Rokinon cine lenses. These are great quality lenses for an amazing price. They produce beautiful images and are not too heavy so I can use them on my gimbal or hand held.

Works great on my LUMIX G85. I was definitely missing this for my film projects. The manual focus takes a little getting used to if you haven’t used them a lot.

I had to figure what I wanted to shoot with this lens. I picked the wrong lens... but then I began experimenting and found. It is an amazing portrait shooter. Can shoot great tight shots in a video ???? Heck I can hold this lens and shoot pretty good

This is a wonderful lens and I'm super happy that I got it so cheap from Adorama! I'm using it for video on a t2i. Lots of YouTube vid is out there to show you what this lens is capable of.

This prime lens will be able to compare safely with many mid-level professional lenses. We use it on our b-camera in a two-camera interview set-up. It's a little low-contrast compared to our Sigma 18-35 ART, but also gets some great lens flares.

This lens makes such a gorgeous image. It's a great freedom having everything at your finger tips. Only downside is if you're not a pro at this it can be a bit frustrating with the learning curve between AF and Manual.

Incredibly sharp lens is perfect for film/video work. The de-clicked aperture allows for smooth aperture changes mid-shot, and beautiful, smooth bokeh.

This is the most cost effect lens you will ever own. I first tried the non cine lens and loved it. So I purchase this one. There is nothing bad to say about this lens other than the lens cap could be better. The pinch one that comes with the 35mm T1.5 is much better. What most people don't realize is the difference between the F and the T as explained by "That Nikon GUY on Youtube". In short a T 1.5 gives you more light at the sensor than a F1.5 or 1.4 for that matter. I also own the Rokinon 14mm and the 35mm Cine lenses and they are all great. Essentially you can buy Rokinon Cine lens kit for the cost the Canon 85 1.4 MKII. The Bokeh is good, not perfectly round but only a tech geek would care. The shallow depth of field is better than expected. The gears and movement are smother than expected and it mates perfectly with my follow focus. I'm a canon shooter and own a number of "L" lenses. I once owned the Canon 85 1.2 and even on the 5D MkIII it takes forever to auto-focus. The Rokinon when used with Magic Lanterns focus peaking is the solution for all who want that cinematic look and focus confirmation. Nueman Films compared the Rokinon with the Canon and the Zesis Cine lenes and at 500% the Rokinon was not as sharp. That being said I have never watched a movie at 500%. Don't get wrapped up in the tech specs of the lens like Bokeh and sharpness at 500% until you are making a feature film and you are paid to care. This lens frees up cash to be put to better use for sliders, dollies, jibs, LED lights or the large number of things here on Adorama.com.

Great Lens!

Fantastic control and the images are wonderful. Control of the exposures for video are the best.
The Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens produces a slightly telephoto angle-of-view on full-frame sensors. It features a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 and an 8 blade iris, for shallow depth of field with attractive bokeh. The focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been "declicked", which facilitates smooth iris pulls.
The 85mm has a minimum focus distance of 3.6'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations. In addition, a multi-coated elements help improve light transmission.
