less than an hour after putting it on my a77ii it wouldn't rack focus past 2.5 feet (my camera actually shut down because of this)...Instead of allowing me to return the item Adorama suggested I get in contact with Tamron...huh? I would give this purchase ZERO stars if that were an option

Great lens that takes wonderful 1:1 macro. An f/2 for an APS-C sensor is a huge advantage over my f/3.5 zoom. I'm looking forward to shooting portraits.

I bought this Sony mount macro to go with my Sony SLT alpha 77. Build quality is excellent and is fairly light. The focus is IF so the compact length does not change. The MF ring is wide and has excellent damping for manual use. It has full-time manual focus over-ride without need to flip any switches which is perfect. Image quality is stunning, even at f2 wide open, a shade less contrast but sharpness is superb. There is no significant field curvature and there is minimal vignetting at max aperture. Could not be happier.

I bought it to use with my Sony A77 body. Very well made with tight tolerances, good quality plastics. Very compact. Hood reverses for storage. Excellent image quality from f2 onwards. Mild vignetting at f2. Excellent focusing ring with tension that is just about perfect, with a fairly long fine control from infinity to MOD. Has FTM focus override without any need to switch to MF. Internal focusing so length remains constant. Excellent ~4 inch working distance from front of lens to object at 1:1. It only lacks a focus limiter, which I do not miss particularly.

Great lens with a great looking bokeh at f/2 and 2.8. Nice working distance of 100mm so you don't have the shadow of your lens in your shot. This is for APS-C cameras ONLY not full frame get the 90mm for full frames. Only con is the auto focus is a tad slow and jumpy but once it's focused it's spot on.

Great addition to my Canon 60D. Great macro results. Love the f2.0 - opens many new avenues. Priced right compared to Canon lens. Hood and it's storage is a plus!

This was the first macro lens that I have purchased. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and looking over many lenses before I decided to purchase this one. I could not be happier with my purchase. I have been very impressed with its incredibly sharp images and short minimum focal length, making it easy to get in close and pull out a lot of detail. The f2.0 adds a whole new level of image control, allowing the user total control over focal distance and bokeh. Auto focus can be slightly slow and can "search" from time to time. And, I would love to see them add focus limiting to this lens. However, the overall quality of the images that I have produced with this lens and the very affordable price overshadows these shortcomings. All around, this is now one of my favorite lenses.

When it comes to macro and portrait photography, this lens shines. Great Bokeh with somewhat soft, rich colors. I also have excellent results with night photography; the maximum f/2 is excellent in low light situations. Whether capturing landscape, portrait or macro, this glass is all I could hope for and is dramatically improving my learning curve.

Been using it for over a year and if you want a good affordable Macro then this is the lens you want. Amazing portrait lens as well...truly unbelievable results. Also love the f/2.0. Only downside is sometimes it dosent always focus right away but havent really missed any shots and its also not rated for an full sensor cam but still works great.

What can I say with $100 rebates and got this quality of image with 1:1, fast AF, f/2 aperture, worked on low light, wonderful bokeh, light weight etc. That is very attracted, so I bought it as my first macro lens. I highly recommend try this macro lens.

This lens works perfectly on my Sony a700, producing very sharp images all the way down to 1:1 ratio. It is the equivalent to a 90mm f2 on a full frame 35mm camera. Something that is imposible to find at this price. Also quite usful as a portrait lens. I have used it with my Kenko 1.5x tele extender making it a 135mm f2.8 and it still delievers sharp images. It takes up little space in the camera bag and therefore easy to have with you at all times. Well worth the purchace price.

As an f/2, the Tamron 60mm is one of the fastest macros out there. This helps a bit in low light. And like most macros, the 60mm is also super sharp. So in addition to being a great macro lens, it's also a perfect lens for portrait work. The build quality doesn't feel super solid, the lens is plastic instead of metal. But most folks won't be banging the lens around much taking pictures of flowers. Overall this is an excellent macro that also doubles as a good portrait lens.

This is a very sharp lens--particularly when stopped down at f8 to f13 (see my Coffee Bean shot below). At f2.0 it's also very sharp and drops off quickly when focused closed up (see my Peanut shot below). My main use is for flower and insect pictures. This is a fun lens and worth your consideration.

Used this lens on my new Canon EOS Rebel T2i to photograph wildflowers in Death Valley. Got great, clear photos of even the tiniest flowers. The wind was blowing part of the time and still got extremely good photos by shooting at a high speed and bracketing. Good distance shots of groups of flowers. So far so good. Durablity unknown, but seems as well built as other Tamron lenses I have used.

I agree with everything Joe G says. I have not removed the lens since I bought it in Dec. Very impressive glass. Play with it everyday. This is my first macro. All my other glass has been Canon EF-S. Seems to hunt for focus sometimes, but never fails to focus spot on.

I have not stopped playing with this lens since I bought it. So far, I have nothing but positive comments about the Tamron 60mm. The aperture range of f/2.0 to f/22 provides amazing control over depth of field. The f/2.0 aperture works well in low light conditions, and is also useful for portraits, allowing for nice separation between the subject and the background. The lens has a working distance of 100mm from the front element of the lens to the subject. This long working distance allows you to take macro shots while maintaining a significant distance from the subject, and prevents the lens barrel from casting a shadow over the subject. The 60mm has a full-time manual control mechanism which enables the user to manually adjust the focus without leaving the auto-focus mode. Finally, the 60mm is light-weight, compact and attractive with a matte finish.

This is a good lens for intra-oral photography or other close-up work with an APS sized sensor.

great macro

With my Canon 7D, this is a great 100+mm macro lens for me. Takes great macro pics.
The Tamron SP AF60mm F/2.0 Di II LD (IF) 1:1 Macro (model G005) is the first medium telephoto macro lens designed for APS-C size DSLR cameras that features a fast maximum aperture of F/2.0 one stop faster than the F/2.8 maximum aperture found on conventional macro lenses in the same class.
The SP AF60mm F/2.0 covers an equivalent angle of view of 93mm when converted to the 35mm format. With is fast F/2.0 maximum aperture, the new macro delivers dramatically attractive blurred background effects. And the addition of Internal Focusing (IF) and Full Time Manual Focus Control Mechanism to its list of highlight features makes this lightweight and compact 1:1 macro lens incredibly easy to use. For Canon and Nikon DSLRS.
