I have three of them and I never get hits or interference. The auto level does not seem to just gain up when it's quiet. I use it for corporate videos, but I'm not sure if I would ever use it for live sound.

I have tried many other Lavalier mic set, but this one is the best under all circumstances. 1) Size is so compact than all other mic set i've tried before. 2) The connection/signal is always very strong. 3) Best Battery life, I took 1+ hour recording using this mic with only 25% of the battery reduced. 4) It has a premium solid feel, very robust, I dropped once and no issues, it is very strong. 5) The mic is very tiny, so it can be hidden easily. 6) I like the clip which is unique and has the ability to use in multiple ways. 7) Also they mic wire is so solid and its unbreakable, unlike other mic wires that i have used in the past which is so fragile and tend to break. 8) It reduces the wind noise considerably compare to other mics i've used. 9) No manual adjustments needed, easy pairing and you are good to go as system takes care of everything. 10) I like the pouch that comes with it, I can fit in everything and zip it, very compact and always stays in my bag. Wish List for next AVX 2 MKE2 system. 1) Its USB charger, I wish its USB-C 2) Could improve the receiver's holder mount better for comfortable fit. 3) Option to power on automatically (both transmitter and receiver) once the mic is connected to camera that is ON. Turn off transmitted and receiver automatically once the camera is turned off or when the mic wire is disconnected from camera. 4) Transmitter to be on the same size of the receiver and with an XLR input with 48+ Phantom Power so it will be a universal system that accepts both Omni Lavalier, also shotgun or handled mic just by switching the mic. This will be innovation! Hope Adorama sends this wishlist to Sennheiser :-)

This lav set is a HUGE improvement on the old E100s (of which I have many). They just work. No futzing with frequencies or squelch or blip blop blorp. You just push power, you push pair and you are good to go. The form factor is so great too. The receivers take up such little real estate on the camera! As usual, the units are metal and feel bulletproof (for when your actors drop the pack, which they do every day.) I would highly recommend getting some extra receiver batteries and some AA battery transmitter power packs. You won't know you need them until your units run out of juice halfway through a shoot. The receivers only take the Sennheiser rechargeable special batteries, but you can use AAs in the transmitter pack battery thingers (the battery that comes with the set does NOT take AAs, you have to buy the AA pack separate!!) and that is a lifesaver. Only a few downsides which are detailed below. PROS: - great form factor - rock solid connection - no fuss no muss CONS: - the belt clip on the transmitter is TRASH. The old E100 clips bent out a bit then angled in so that they gripped a waistband or belt. These new ones lie flat against the smooth back of the transmitter which makes them slip off the waistband after just a little movement. This is a HUGE flaw and caused me to yank the clips off my old E100s and put them on these AVX units. It's a blunder. I emailed Sennheiser and their crappy response was "sorry u don't like it we don't plan to change the clips". THANKS, SENNHEISER, YA TURDS

There are enough reviews for the audio quality of the AVX system out there. YouTube it - you'll see dozens. There's no question that the sound quality is impeccable. So I won't go into detail about this. The problems I have with the system come from poor planning and design with the power system. Instead of using AA batteries like their old EW system, they've opted to use rechargeable batteries. That in itself is a problem. If I'm on location and forgot a battery, lost one, have dead batteries - whatever the situation is, I can't just pop over to the closest store and get new ones. So you buy extras. Lots of extras. Because I'm the over-prepared type and a professional and I don't come to a gig under-equiped. And not only have they switched from conveniently available AAs to their own model of rechargeable batteries, but the transmitter and receiver don't even use the same model of battery. I appreciate the dramatic reduction in size of the receiver, and that doing so required a smaller battery. But why couldn't the transmitter use the same battery? If it's a matter of the transmitter utilizing more juice than the receiver, then why couldn't it be made to use two of the same batteries used on the receiver? The transmitter battery is literally double the width of the receiver battery. But all that COULD be forgivable if they had just thought up a better charging system. Instead of popping out all my AAs and just throwing them into a couple of chargers, I now have to have all the transmitters and receivers strewn about, with a mess of cords across my work area to charge each one. You'd think they could have included or at least offered for sale a large charging station that you could just pop several batteries into. Really, these issues are a little more than a minor inconvenience, but it still does make an otherwise perfect system a huge pain for when the production is over. Given the price of this new system, it would have been nice for a little extra convenience.

The AVX-MKE2 SET includes a bodypack transmitter with lavalier microphone, the plug on receiver and all accessories to operate out of the box with camcorders as well as DSLR cameras. It features self configuring digital transmission which eliminates time-consuming radio frequency setup.
The ultra compact receiver rotates around the XLR connector to avoid collision with other devices mounted on your camera. It switches on and off automatically with your camera - saving battery power. The AVX matches perfectly to your camera's input sensitivity without having to adjust the audio level on the microphone. From professional wedding video to documentaries, from street interviews to corporate videos, the AVX just works allowing you to concentrate on creativity.
