I?ll be real, I bought this for a very strange reason most people probably wouldn?t buy it for. I have been looking for a good ?paranormal? camera to take on ghost hunts and to record general outdoor adventures with. I have always wanted a good camcorder and this seemed to check all the boxes. It?s close enough to professional to meet all my needs. It has great low light capabilities, great infrared capabilities, and shoots pretty good quality video. 4k30 is all I really wanted since it?s mostly for YouTube anyway and I?m not trying to spend thousands on SD cards. There?s a good chance I may be shooting a lot in 1080p but I wanted the option. I love the ability to just grab and go with this camcorder. It?s going to be recording in low light situations a lot and it really just checks all the boxes. The kit is a pretty good deal for someone that doesn?t have much filming gear.

I searched high & low for a camera that I can use to film my podcast as well as take with me as an independent journalist. After weeks of research & comparing other cams, I landed on the Canon XA50. As soon I got this camcorder I was impressed. If you are a professional or a person who wants great quality, this camera is for you. From easy to use features to 2 convenient XLR mic imputs, I can honesty say I am more than happy with this purchase. This video quality is amazing & the way it performs is second to none in my opinion. If you have been doing endless research like I was & you're still not sure what to get, I highly recommend you get the Canon XA50. You won't be disappointed.

As a hybrid shooter turning more toward video I decided to test the camcorder waters and have to say I've been absolutely blown away. This feature packed XA50 produces stunning results and punches way above its price point when compared to the hybrid camera offerings. With the addition of clog 3 and 10 bit 4:2:2 1080p to an external recorder it is an absolute power house. When shooting internally the files are ready to go without the need to create optimized media of any sort. The ease of use of this camera makes it fun to shoot with and lets you focus on getting the shot, and even better for low light I can still get a useable image at nearly max gain with a little bit of noise reduction applied. The form factor is so comfortable I literally take this to and from the studio as my choice walk around camera when filming my non business related content. For interviews, corporate work, event work, and even handheld detail shots, I find the XA50 an absolute joy to use. I will definitely be adding either another one to the arsenal or an XF705 or XF605. Aside from 4k 60 and extra physical controls I feel like this is the perfect package. Highly recommend the XA50.

The camera is great and for this I gave it 5 stars. Some of the other items are rather cheap. They send a dual battery charger but only one plate you can only charge one battery at a time. The tripod is a very cheap version. The shot gun mic is also very cheap.

I bought this camera to be a second camera to my XF705. and WOW what a great buy...This camera produces quality video and tracks my subjects just as well as my XF705...The color science from Canon plus the dual pixel technology you can?t go wrong. If you are debating buying this Camcorder...just do it....you won?t be disappointed.

I really like the camcorder bundle. I have upgraded from a older Canon Vixia HF100. This unit take great video. It is admittedly a lot larger than my previous unit but not heavy. Adorama had a really good price and they always have really good customer service.

One major flaw in an otherwise great camera. Bought this as an upgrade to the XA20 which I've had for eight years. I just wanted the bigger 1" sensor for better low-light functionality, and 4K which the XA50 provides. It does everything really well. It has all the flexibility of full manual which I utilize all the time, and it has all the ins/outs that I need (including XLR mic preamps and clean HDMI (mini) output. I work at a house of worship, and this camera provides tons of flexibility. It is also simple enough for anyone to just turn on and start recording, regardless of skill level which is great so any of our staff can use it. The issue is the LCD screen. It has terrible color shift, so there is no good way to know if an image has the right white balance and exposure settings until you're in post. If you're viewing the LCD the slightest bit off center, your footage could be garbage. Also, the touch-screen menu is harder to navigate than that of the XA20 which is much older. A big miss in my opinion. LCD tech should improve one generation to the next, but not in this case.

This camera is excellent, especially for the price. Great in low light, the features are excellent, screen info is great and the steady hand feature works fantastic. I've already used it on a couple of live stream shoots and even the TD was amazed with the colors. The only feature I wish it had was a manual white balance (or if it does have it, I have not found it yet).

I bought this camera after comparing it to the competition and looking at other reviews. This was the only cam that had the highest consistent rating so I went for it. Just got it the beginning of June 2020 and after playing around with it and getting use to it I will say I am very happy about it. My biggest concern was how well it would do in low light. For the conditions i shoot in mostly in church it is awesome. Could say more but for someone looking for a complete camera I think you will be happy.

wonderful videocam for run and gun... not full 4K but Ultra High Def (UHD) 3840 x 2160 is still a very robust capture. The internal mic for L/R channel is solid good... but really nice is having XLR inputs... records beautifully. Takes a bit to get use to navigation but is fairly logically once you do it several times. Having the attachable handle is a must plus. The lens hood is very convenient in that you do not have to always put the lens cap on. The open/close on the lens hood lets you carry the camcorder safely. I have shot in very cold weather and did not encounter any issues. Wish it had a histogram but it does have peaking... for the price it is a very useful piece of equipment.

So far with our first initial shoot with this model I am very pleased with the results, picture and audio quality are quite good and with the 1-inch sensor it really makes a difference in lower light scenarios. The only minor draw back is battery life as the standard battery is not that great for recording long events.

Canon raises the bar for creative video production with a new line of professional camcorders. The XA50 features a 1" CMOS sensor, two XLR audio inputs, and one mini-HDMI output. The optics of the XA50 has an integrated 15x HD optical zoom and broad DR gamma support, which produces exceptional video quality even when recording under low light conditions. The XA50 focuses more on mobile video production due to its four-channel 24-bit audio recording, which enables content creators to capture and record multiple tracks, voices, and sounds without having to carry around an additional audio recorder. It has Canon’s Dual Pixel AF, which allows for 4K recording at 30 frames per second or full HD at 60 frames per second. Create video content on the go without the bulk with the new Canon XA50.
The XA50 Professional Camcorder offers an outstanding combination of 4K UHD image quality, features and functionality in a compact portable design ideally suited for on-the-go Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and documentary production.
Before NAB 2019 kicks off in Las Vegas, Canon is announcing four exciting new camcorders to their existing professional lineup. The Canon XA40 and XA45 are new offerings for journalists and broadcasters, while the XA50 and XA55 have creative video production capabilities. READ MORE...
Featuring a 1.0-inch 4K UHD CMOS image sensor and a DiG!C DV 6 Image Processor, the XA50 can record in XF-AVC or MP4 formats to dual SD card slots. The camcorder is capable of recording 4K UHD video at 30p, as well as slow motion recording up to 60fps in Full HD (30 fps in 4K UHD). A 15x optical zoom lens maintains 4K UHD quality throughout the entire zoom range, while the camcorder's Dual Pixel CMOS AF helps facilitate fast and accurate autofocus.
The XA50 Professional Camcorder features a Canon 1.0-inch 4K UHD CMOS image sensor capable of 4K UHD video capture at 60p and slow motion recording up to 60fps in Full HD (30 fps in 4K UHD), making the XA50 camcorder a strong contender for professional productions, creative fields and more.
The XA50 camcorder's 1.0-inch sensor allows for larger photosites compared to smaller-sized sensors, resulting in improved images with less noise in low-light situations. The larger sensor also exhibits a shallower depth of field at large apertures, providing greater depth of field control and creative options. The camcorder's DiG!C DV 6 imaging engine further enhances the high sensitivity and low noise performance of the camcorder.
For natural and realistic-looking image capture that faithfully represents the scene at hand, Wide DR Gamma achieves a wide dynamic range of 800% to produce almost seamless tone gradations, resulting in smooth detail, accurate color and virtually no blown-out highlights.
The Face Detection AF feature has two modes - Face Priority AF and Face Only AF - that offer users precise flexibility in how they choose their autofocus for a subject or scene.
The XA50 Professional Camcorder supports slow and fast motion recording, and can record in a different frame rate from playback for slow and fast motion effects. Slow motion recording of up to 60 fps (x0.4) in Full HD (30 fps in 4K UHD) is supported, helping to create an emotionally moving and exciting style of video.
The XA50 Professional Camcorder features a 3.0-inch Touch Panel LCD and a newly designed 0.24-inch Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). The Touch Panel LCD and EVF provide visual recognition of desired features along with a full array of menu options for controlling camcorder settings. The Touch Panel LCD works with Canon's exclusive AF technologies for easy monitoring and one-finger tap-focusing during shooting and the EVF offers 45° of tilt for more comfortable operation in a variety of positions.
The detachable handle unit can be quickly and easily attached to the camcorder body without tools. The handle includes a zoom lever, a start/stop record button and two XLR terminals that can be controlled independently to help ensure the proper audio levels are being captured correctly. The handle is also capable of mounting a mic holder and features a cold shoe that can be used to mount a variety of other optional peripherals.
Weighing only 2.1 pounds (main body only), the XA50 Professional Camcorder features a compact and lightweight design, offering excellent mobility, making it especially useful for on-the-go Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and documentary production applications.
