I have had this camera for 8 years. It has proven itself in a range of situations, from sports photography, with a telephoto lens (100-400mm) as well as portraits and landscapes. We also have a professional videographer in the family who frequently borrows my camera

I've had this camera a few weeks and I am very impressed with it. Shoots great images and the 4K video is excellent. The camera is easy to use and the customise button feature is very good. I still haven't worked out how to use the picture profiles yet but it seems straight forward.

I bought this camera a month ago and absolutely love it, I also bought a zeiss 16-70mm f4 lens to use with it and am over the moon with the combination. Every shot is a keeper, brilliant gear Sony. Just a perfect lightweight everyday camera.

I bought this camera specifically to try astrophotography with my 600mm telescope. Although I?m a beginner at this I?m very impressed with the camera. The fact that it?s mirrorless means that I can turn it to electronic shutter and take numerous photos, (eg 200 or so for stacking), without any wear on the mechanism and without increasing the shutter count. So far I?ve only done photos of the moon and planets but I?m very impressed. My only problems so far have been with the complexity of using it. It seems like hundreds of settings and an awful lot to learn. One thing that I don?t like is Sony?s Imaging Edge program to link my smartphone and laptop to the camera. The smartphone app links okay but is very limited in what it will do. I?ve now bought a third party app to give me full intervalometer functions. The Windows app for the laptop won?t connect to the camera at all so I?ve given up on it.

Had this camera now for a couple of years and with out doubt it's been a brilliant first camera. A step up from the A6000 but still at a perfect entry point. Compact, sharp and solid autofocus are just a few benefits of this camera. If you were to get into photography a little more though, you may be left wanting more or a larger sensor, that's where I'm currently at now. But overall it has served me well and I can't complain about the performance or price.

I have been using Sony products for as long as I can remember. Every product I used, cameras, TVs, surround sound systems, computers like this one, cell phones, etc, the look, the feel, the ease of use up until the smart technology took over, the sound, views, sharpness of the pictures, were second to none! Sony has always been the numero uno cutting edge electronics leader. Even though the stock market will not admit the greatness of the Sony products the proof is in the pudding! A few years ago I came across 2 other brands which I could purchase for a steal. I acquired these 2 products, one a compact camera and the other was a SMART TV. After using Only Sony products for so long these other ones seemed like apples to thistles. The quality of all the mid to higher end Sony products have been amazing to say the least. When blu ray first came out I was, well, what can I say? Blu ray was so far ahead of anything up until 4k arrived on the scene, and I will argue that blu ray is still better then 4k. Take the VAIO. There are two computer brands that show up in movies. Some of the biggest movie titles that showed computers VAIO was there. I'm using one now. I just wish I had my old one with the backlit keyboard. The battle for the best sound in headphones has always been fierce. I was a koss guy with the pro4/AA which were to me the best sound ever in headphones. That is until the virtual surround sound was introduced, then Sony just recently blew away the competition with the 360 virtual mixing environment cordless WF headphones that will take some kind of magic to beat. No matter what kind of reviews Sony has to put up with when a new product hits the market like OLED 4k , oops scratch that 8K. What companies are even trying to compete with that? If they did they would sink, unless they are very quick with reverse engineering in such a way as to not show any Sony tech. . .Well scratch that too! It ain't gonna happen. So let the jealous ones who give everything a bad rap stick to their mediocre sub-tech gizmos while Sony screams by the competition. My camera! My first SLR camera was purchased over seas while I was in the navy. It was a top of the line other brand, and it took great pictures, that is as long as they were in focus. It had no autofocus, but it did have a feature I miss that allows the shutter to be cocked without advancing the film for multiple exposures on one frame. Jump ahead 40 years and welcome to the megapixel. I didn't really understand that term until I saw the Hubble telescope aimed at earth with 4 gigapixel resolution. The image that was created by that lens was shone on a very large table as a tiny dot. This dot got larger and larger as the projector zoomed in, and zoomed in, and zoomed in 500 more times until one pebble in the asphalt on a NY city street was in the whole frame it was as clear as if you stood looking at it in real time. This is what a megapixel does. If you want to see some amazing video, and a real and distinct view of how a higher MP creates stunning, amazingly stunning video look on youtube at the Hasselblad 400 megapixel videos. Even with a mediocre TV or computer monitor the views are breathtaking. Bring on the Alpha 1 with 50mp full frame camera with so many new advancements, I'm thinkin the rest are in awe! Even though the MP rating is higher the rest of the features in the Alpha 1 far overshadow the rest, plus most of the other high MP rated cameras do not have full frame technology. In my MHO the spec sheet does not lie, and it is always the bottom line in the race to produce the best. Sony's specs have always amazed!

I've been using this camera for over a year. From experience I found that the photography capabilities of this camera is outstanding and video capabilities of S log allows more people to get into a cinema video production in an indie production or professional. The only issue I have with this camera is the battery and and the lack of USB type C. I was considering getting A7C but the photography capabilities of that camera does not match this.

I’ve had this camera for a year, after using an a6000 for 3 years. I love the battery grip and the battery life compared to the a6000. I want to say I love this camera, but I’ve had a problem with the ISO. The ISO works as expected when in manual mode, except when I use an external flash. When reviewing my photos, the ISO with flash was actually 6000, and it was set at 100. When using auto, shutter priority, or aperture priority, the ISO typically jumps to 6,500-32,000 in well lit environments. I’ve called Sony many times.I put the ISO limit on, and the camera bypasses it. Sony finally agreed to repair it. I sent it out for a month, and the ISO continues to be an issue. I asked to have the camera replaced, but they won’t replace it. They want me to send it back to Precision Camera. Precision camera cleaned and reset to factory settings, which I had already done. They also sent me a condescending note the this camera requires an external flash and more than a kit lens. I have many expensive Sony lenses and a few external flashes. I assume this is an electronic problem, I’m not sure what I’ll do next. The image quality from this camera is good when the ISO isn’t too high, but I’ve had many photos ruined because of it. Proceed with caution if you buy it

I bought this camera as an alternative to the ubiquitous iphone camera. I wanted something not much bigger, with the same ease of use but with changeable settings and lenses. My search led to the Sony. It is better, but not as easy to use as an iphone. It will partitally connect to my iphone, but its a hassle. the menus are difficult to navigate, and not intuitive, and it should be. Needs a redesign by a product designer not a electrician

I found 4K video unusable, HD video fine for my needs Image quality very good SD card file organisation very frustrating. Menu system nightmarish, unintuitive and clunkier than competing menu design. No intelligible logic to menu assignments. No manual LCD monitor/EVF viewfinder toggle button. With eye sensor set to automatic camera cannot be used with monitor extended Not allowed to assign custom button to manually toggle viewfinders Exposure modes seem very glued to 100 ISO Every now and then camera refuses to focus, resolved by pointing camera on something close and forcing focus Button override or custom button to toggle between viewfinders missing Missing viewfinder toggle button makes for very clunky use

The camera works well, short battery life. In hindsight I should had spent the extra for a model that has in-body image stabilization - I would have more options with after market lenses.

Sony today announced the Sony a6300, which they claim has the world's fastest autofocus, and a new category of pro-level lenses with a focus on exceptional Bokeh. The a6300 replaces the Sony a6000, the best-selling Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Compact digital camera of all time.
The a6300 qualifies as a genuine technological breakthrough camera that redefines the mirrorless camera category and takes it to an entirely new level.
Deceptive looks!

Got this camera to complement my full frame Canon 6D DSLR three weeks ago at The Photography Show in Birmingham, UK. Intended to use it just for travel and sports due to its size, weight and awesome AF. However, it has barely been out of my hands. It is such a pleasure to use. The AF rarely misses, I can check so quickly what's in focus with focus peaking and the flip up lcd monitor adds much more than I'd have imagined to spontaneous street shots. The downside is pretty much as I expected - ...

Superb focus tracking system that works wonder.
By Lukias
I bought the ILCE 6300 as a second camera to take with me on photographic holiday and have recently returned from photographing migrating seabirds. I thoroughly enjoyed using the A6300 for shooting birds in-flight. It has an impressive fast focus tracking system that works so well. The A6300 fitted with an FE lens is small and light enough for you to carry around and keep on shooting handheld for hours with ease. I'm so glad that I bought it! The sample photos were all taken handheld.
Foster your creativity with this Sony Alpha a6300 mirrorless digital camera. It incorporates the technology of a DSLR without the mirror so that you get more camera in a smaller, lighter body. This mirrorless camera comes supplied withouta lens to make it easy to choose exactly what lenses you want to purchase from the Sony A-mount lens range.
At the heart of this Sony Alpha a6300 mirrorless digital camera is a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor that combines with the BIONZ X digital image processor to produce incredible photos from the momentyou pick it up. It also allows the use of high-sensitivity ISO speeds up to 51,200 so that you can take images even in extremely dark places. You get the results on the adjustable LCD screen, which tilts and has a level gauge to let you take accurate photos with this digital camera at an even lower angle than before.
Even better is its autofocus technology, which means it can focusin as little as 0.05 seconds, and it can track your subjects even when they're moving, for incredibly accurate 4K video. As a result, this Sony Alpha a6300 mirrorless digital camera lets you can take images with exceptional precision even when the subject is moving rapidly to ensure you never drop the shot. Sony introduces the latest addition to their award winning line-up of mirrorless cameras, the a6300. The camera boasts an unrivalled 4D FOCUS system that can lock focus on a subject in as little as 0.05 seconds, the world's fastest AF acquisition time. Additionally, the a6300 has an incredible 425 phase detection AF points that are densely positioned over the entire image area - the world's highest number of AF points on any interchangeable lens camera, and can shoot images at up to 11 frames per second with continuous autofocus and exposure tracking.
The impressive new mirrorless model also has the ability to support full live-view continuous shooting on the Tru-finder or LCD screen at up to 8 frames per second, ultimately producing a real-time shooting experience that combines all the benefits of an electronic viewfinder with the immediacy of a through-the-lens optical viewfinder.
The versatile a6300 camera is equipped with a newly developed 24.2 MP APS-C sized Exmor CMOS sensor that works together with a BIONZ X image processing engine to produce outstanding image quality throughout the entire ISO sensitivity range ISO 100 - 51200.
The new a6300 can also shoot and record high resolution 4K video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning in the popular Super 35mm format.
Unrivalled AF Performance
Sony's new a6300 camera builds upon the acclaimed 4D FOCUS performance of the a6000 model, utilizing a Fast Hybrid AF system that combines high-speed phase detection AF with extremely accurate contrast AF and allows it to capture and lock on to moving subjects in as little as 0.05 seconds. The camera's High-density Tracking AF technology positions 425 phase detection AF points over nearly the entire field of view, allowing it to accurately focus throughout a wide area - even on small, fast objects that other cameras would fail to recognize.
In addition to the extensive AF coverage, the a6300 debuts a new high-density tracking AF technology that significantly improves subject detection and tracking performance. This new technology can quickly activate a large number of AF points surrounding a subject - approximately 7.5 times more density than the a6000 - and intelligently adjust them in accordance with the subject's motion. This is a particularly powerful feature when used with high-speed 11 fps continuous shooting or the new 8 fps continuous live-view mode, which provides 100% accurate framing for fast moving subjects on the LCD screen or viewfinder.
Of note is the fact that the camera's 425 phase detection AF points, enhanced tracking and focus accuracy are all available on the a6300 when using A-mount lenses with a mount adapter like the Sony LA-EA3. This is a first for Sony E-mount interchangeable lens cameras with an APS-C sized sensor, as the only other cameras to feature this capability are the full-frame a7R II and a7 II models.
Other enhancements to the a6300 include silent shooting functionality, the ability to use AF in focus magnifier mode, expanded flexible spot AF, Eye AF in AF-C mode and more.
Powerful 24.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X Processor
In order to maximize efficiency and overall camera performance, the a6300 features a new 24.2 MP sensor that is an ideal match for its BIONZ X image processing engine.
The new image sensor employs copper wiring in its structure, which improves light collection efficiency and significantly accelerates readout speed. The BIONZ X processor features an upgraded image processing algorithm designed to maximize the sensor's overall capabilities. Together, the two key components work together to produce images with low noise and exceptional resolution in sensitivity settings up to ISO51200, in particular in the mid-to-high sensitivity range.
Ultimate 4K Resolution and Other Professional Video Capabilities
In another first for non-full-frame Sony interchangeable lens cameras, the new a6300 offers internal 4K movie recording in Super 35mm format. When shooting in 4K, the camera uses full pixel readout without pixel binning to collect 20 megapixels of information - approximately 2.4x (6K equivalent) as many pixels as 4K UHD and then oversamples the information to produce high quality footage with exceptional detail and depth.
The camera utilizes the XAVC S codec during video shooting, which records at a high bit rate of 100 Mbps during 4K recording and 50 Mbps during standard Full HD shooting, ensuring maximum detail and clarity in both video formats. Additionally, the camera will focus approximately twice as fast as its predecessor during movie shooting thanks to its new and improved AF system. AF speed and AF tracking sensitivity are also adjustable for expanded creativity.
Other professional caliber video features include the ability to record Full HD at 120 fps at 100 Mbps, another first for a interchangeable lens cameras with APS-C sized sensors. This mode allows footage to be reviewed and eventually edited into 4x or 5x slow motion video files in Full HD (24p or 30p) resolution with AF tracking. The new a6300 also offers S-Log gamma recording for wide dynamic range shooting - approximately 14-stop latitude in S-Log3 gamma setting - and supports S-Gamut for a wider color space. Both options allow for greater creativity for processing video post-production.
Also included on the new camera is a microphone line input that accepts external microphones and also supports XLR input with Sony's XLR adapter kit, as well as Gamma Display Assist, a new function that allows users to monitor images or check focus when recording S-Log movies. The new model has enhanced Zebra functionality for greater exposure control. Picture profile settings are available, as well as Time Code / User Bit and much more.
Enhanced Operability and Ergonomics
The a6300 camera is equipped with a high contrast, high-resolution XGA OLED Tru-Finder with approximately 2.4 million dots that offers exceptional corner-to-corner visibility. There is also a new mode available for the viewfinder that allows display of images at 120 fps, ensuring that action is displayed smoothly with very few afterimages, making subject tracking through the Tru-finder easier than ever.
Aesthetically, the new a6300 camera features an extremely solid feel in hand thanks to its robust, magnesium alloy design. It can be customized to fit nearly any shooting style or preferences, with 9 customizable buttons that one of 64 different functions can be assigned to. The camera adds a digital level gauge as well as upgraded dust and moisture resistance, a reinforced lens mount structure and a new shutter release button and mode dial with improved operability and grip.
The new a6300 camera is Wi-Fi and NFC compatible and fully functional with Sony's PlayMemories Mobile application available for Android and iOS platforms, as well as Sony's growing range of PlayMemories Camera Apps, which add a variety of creative capabilities to the camera. It also supports QR code for easy connection to non-NFC smart phones.
