Light, sharp lens for my Nikon F100. Autofocus works well too, what's not to love?

I needed a prime lens to take photos with out flash in low light conditions. did not want to spend a lot of money. ( saving up for that nikkor 200-500mm ) did a test shot of a humming bird not bad . the lens will do what I want it for. good value.

I love the lens. Very comfortable and convenient to use and it works well. I ordered a new lens, but the box looks like it was a used one and no guarantee or instruction brochure were included.

I originally bought this when I had a D850 on order, but some things changed and I'm currently using a Z7 with an FTZ. While the AF doesn't work, it works amazing with focus peaking. This is an amazing cheap lens for anyone looking for a cheap 50mm, or looking to replace the 18-55 kit lenses that this will far surpass!

Great standard lens. I had only a week to use it but will review it later once I get a chance to use it more.

Low cost lens, light and small, great optics. Just the way camera lenses used to be before zooms.

I was happy to receive my lens so quickly. I am still learning how to use it but they also gave me a 90 day opportunity to access a professional regarding using my lens.

Great lens for the price! I am only a beginner and hobby photographer but it fit perfectly on my d3400 and I've been able to get some great shots with it. The open aperture lets in tons of light for darker shots and also allows for an excellent bokeh effect.

Can’t comment on the lens because I bought the wrong one! Customer service was the best. We arranged for an easy return and credit refund. Then they recommended the correct lens and then took care of the purchase. No hassles, no frustrations...Everyone was professional and we even had some fun. I feel I purchased a quality product for a fair price.

I love this little nifty 50. Much better quality photos and low light capability than the kit lens. I love the small size too. It streamlines the size and weight of the D7200 making it much more comfortable to walk around with. This is a nice portrait lens for the DX format. I alternate between this and the 35mm prime for most of my shots.

The image quality on my D750 is great. The auto focus isn't the fastest and it is a bit noisy, but for the price, it is an awesome lens. I have so far only used it indoors for pictures of my newborn son. F1.8 is not very sharp, but definitely usable.

This lens rocks for the money! I'm not a pro photographer, but I worked in a camera store for two years during college, and studied a year of 35mm/4x5 view camera photography while attending college for my art degree. It is really hard to fault the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D. On my D610, the pictures are really, really sharp, and the colors are vibrant. Auto focus is fast and accurate. If you use something nicer like a D810, it should still work very well. If I owned a D850, then I might consider something with a little more resolve power, but this lens would still be a great backup.

I love this lens. I started photography out with a Tokina 2.8 wide angle, and really needed a prime lens for everyday shots. This lens does exactly what it should for the price.

Compatible with F mount Nikon bodies and DSLR's aswell, although metering will have to be done manually. Bought these for beginning students to have them appreciate this classic focal length and wheen them from the starter kit zoom lens that comes with most cameras.

This lens is great for taking portrait and fading the background. I also use it on some products shot. I think anyone taking photos should have one of these. I am retired now and can' afford to buy some of the more expensive lens so I will use this with my other two lens. I have been using Nikon lens and cameras over50 years.

This lens is great for low light shots. Focused when my other lenses hunted. Tack sharp until f22. A little soft. Focus is fast and quiet. Great lens for landscape, close up and fine detail, and portrait. I used one all the time when I shot film, but with digital I started out using short zoom and got lazy. This has brought back fun and challenges. I recommend buying one. it sure got me out of a jam shooting the interior of a building. Not as much angle of view as my telephoto, but I couldn't get the lens to focus and the images were soft. The 50mm saved my shoot!

It didn't fit like the Nikon USA lenses. The plastic was cheap, the mounting ring was hard to twist on my Nikon D 7100...I had to force the twist. It should be advertised as a non USA Nikon lens.

Great lens with many bonus capabilities

This lens is the perfect portrait lens for indoor and outdoor use. 50mm Focal Length 50mm on an APS-C sensor translates to 75mm on a full frame. What this means for indoor people photography is that for capturing faces and expressions of one or two people, this lens is great. If you need to capture more of a subjects' body/clothing or 3-8 people, a 30mm - 35mm lens would be more suitable. f/1.8 - f/22 Aperture f/1.8 is a very fast lens. Nikon makes an f/1.4 50mm as well, but I recommen...

Sick Bokeh-
By GaryLeo23
The optics are amazing on this glass. You cannot do better- especially for the price. I thought it quite fast for a 50 mm as well, something I've found a bit tricky.
What sets the 50mm f/1.8D AF NIKKOR Lens apart is its exceptional combination of speed, precision, and portability, making it an essential addition to any photographer's kit. This high-quality prime lens is renowned for its wide f/1.8 aperture, which not only facilitates shooting in various lighting conditions but also achieves a beautifully shallow depth of field for that professional-looking bokeh effect in portraits and close-up shots.
Crafted with versatility in mind, this lens is ideal for a range of photographic pursuits, including travel, portrait, landscape, and street photography. Its standard 50mm focal length offers a natural perspective, closely mirroring the field of view of the human eye, which is why it's often referred to as a "nifty fifty."
The lens's advanced autofocus performance is attributed to Nikon's precise AF-D technology, ensuring fast and accurate focusing when capturing fleeting moments or dynamic subjects. However, it's important to note that this autofocus feature is not supported by certain Nikon cameras, including the D40, D60, D3100, D3000, and D5000 models.
In addition to its autofocus capabilities, the 50mm f/1.8D lens boasts a manual aperture ring, allowing photographers to exercise full creative control over their exposure settings. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who engage in macro photography or employ advanced techniques such as reverse mounting for close-up imagery.
Image quality is uncompromised with this lens, delivering sharp, crisp images with minimal distortion and vignetting. The optical design includes 7 aperture blades that contribute to the lens's pleasing bokeh quality, ensuring that out-of-focus areas are rendered smoothly and evenly.
Constructed to be durable and reliable, this lens is encased in a lightweight body that makes it an excellent travel companion. Despite its compact size, it doesn't compromise on performance, offering advanced features that cater to both amateur and professional photographers alike.
In summary, the 50mm f/1.8D AF NIKKOR Lens is a high-quality, durable, and versatile choice for anyone looking to elevate their photography. Its wide aperture, reliable autofocus, and compatibility with a range of Nikon cameras make it a valuable asset for capturing stunning, detailed images across various genres.
