After a month or so, I'm really loving this lens. It has been fun to shoot so wide on micro 4/3, and the clarity is fantastic. Like all the pro lenses, the build quality is great and the lens feels beefy (in a good way). The price is definitely beefy too (in a bad way), but if you can swing it this lens feels like a perfect compliment to the 12-40mm.

I have had my 7-14mm, Pro lens for a little over a year and it is one of my favorite lenses. It is great for my landscape shooting and also works well when I go sailing. I am able to capture a lot of the 42-foot boat in spite of the cramped circumstances.

I shoot a lot of cityscapes, so lens distortion tends to be visible among the straight lines of built architecture. That's not a problem here -- this lens is very sharp and well-corrected.

Exactly what I wanted. It has increased the potential for interior photography in what are occasionally dimly lit spaces without the need for a tripod. Very happy with the purchase. Would recommend to anyone.

Purchased this lens to use with my new Olympus OM-D E-M10 III. It fulfills my need for a wider perspective as I use the Olympus only for its unique LC option, after decades of using EOS cameras, though one of my early film cameras in the 70s was a OM1 and later an OM2 ;) I wish there was an available option presented to users of this lens concerning filter use. Because of the 105mm filter size, it was difficult to find an effective add-on to enable using a filter without vignetting at the extreme focal range, though eventually after much online research and reading too-many published reviews, I found my dream filter add-on in Taiwan after a week of owning the lens. Even without using the LC feature, it is a great sharp lens, and the manual/auto focus clutch is very effective and easy to use! The distance scale also is a great help also. I would recommend this lens to anyone for use in landscape, architectural and night-sky use!

Very few things are true "game changers", and this lens is one. It is my first professional lens - I had pined for it for 4 years - and it has been hugely beneficial. Shots I couldn't get with the 14-150mm are commonplace now. I have been using it for star trails as well and it's been great.

This is a FANTASTIC wide angle lens. Sturdy and waterproof construction. Very sharp and bright. This is my too go lens for wide panoramic captures. A must lens for any serious Olympus landscape photographer.

Definitely not an everyday lens, but far more useful than I thought. For example going to downtown and historic sites is a blast. I have bought a grip for my EM5 III and really don't notice the weight. Also brighter than I thought, and I'm not worried about lack of filters. Overall I'm elated with the product and happy that I purchased it. What a Fun lens.

While I don't have a begging need for this lens on an everyday basis it's a fantastic lens and delivers better results than I expected- and I expected a lot based on the quality I get from my other PRO lenses. It seems extremely sharp corner to corner with no fall off in the corners or edges. The colors are vibrant and they match the color profiles of my other lenses so there is no need to correct images from this lens which is any different from the profile I've established in my workflow for all the PRO lenses. The lens does not seem particularly prone to flare even with the big front element. I'm still a bit reluctant to use it really inclement weather just because I'm not interested in getting snow and rain on the front element. I'm waiting on a bit of better weather to really determine the limits of this lens in my shooting. It has performed wonderfully in the times I've needed it.

Wonderful. Love the color. Sharper than expected at its focal lengths.

This lens is extremely well made, rugged, and weather sealed as are all the Olympus PRO lenses. i did have the Panasonic version of this lens and opted to replace it with the Oly 7-14 to gain the extra stop and so that i didn't have to deal with the reverse zooming direction. The one feature which is not programmable is the zoom direction and Olympus lenses and Panasonic lenses zooms rotate in opposite directions. i guess it never was an item in the common micro four thirds specification.

Recently started urbex shooting, and this gem paid off in spades, especially in tight spaces and low light situations. Glad I have this beauty in my arsenal.

I knew this was a great lens, but when I used it for some landscapes I was amazed at how wide the field of view was and the sharpness of the images I took. Great lens!

The M.Zuiko 7-14 mm f/2.8 is a wonderful wide angle zoom. With my OM-D E-M1X I've been able to capture hand-held landscape and architectural images at 4 second exposures and longer. Being able to shoot at an efov of 14 mm (full frame equiv) can make a significant difference when compared to using a 16 mm or 18 mm focal length.

The zoom mechanism broke inside my copy, which is very infrequently used, and always stored properly. All I did was turn the zoom ring, and it ground to a gritty halt, and then some piece broke off and rattled around inside the lens. It was just a few months outside the 2-year warranty and Olympus charged me $265 to repair it. For a $1,200+ PRO lens, that's pretty poor quality.

Okay, I'm not a wide-angle fan, and it took me about 18 months to decide to pick up this ultra-wide zoom. Now that I've got it... WOW! Very sharp, brilliant images. Unique perspectives. Easy to handle. Interesting (and necessary) lens cap. And a macro capability I wasn't expecting at all. Terrific lens!

I traded in my legacy 7-14 mm lens for this lens! I found it be much lighter, smaller and sharper quality images. The wide angle allows me to capture landscapes with brilliant clarity.

Greatest wide angle lens I have ever used. Love this lens, it is in my camera bag at all times. Love using it for architecture and sunrise / sunsets. Sharp optics produces very detailed images coupled with my OM-D EM1 Mark II camera body

I originally bought a Panasonic Leica 8-18mm lens for Micro Four Thirds, but after getting four of them that were severely decentered (one side of the photos was so soft it looked like I'd used a Holga; the other side was tack sharp), I gave up and spent a couple hundred more to get the Olympus 7-14. It was worth the money. This lens is tack sharp across the whole frame, except at 7mm, where it is slightly soft in the corners and extreme edges. When I shot fullframe Canon, I used a Tokina 17-35 and Canon's 17-40 and the Olympus is sharper than either.

Great lens - with excellent build- and image quality - Very large and heavy - Curved front lens and fixed lens hood make it complex to use filters for landscape. Susceptible to lens flare

I've used quite a few different wide angle lenses over the years. This is my first "pro" lens and I'm disappointed. My last wide was a Sigma and it nailed focus nearly every time. On my last shoot, I had focus confirm on every image. More than I would expect were out of focus. It's also not that sharp either shooting at F4. I was expecting image quality to be leaps and bounds better than my sigma and it just isn't. No, I don't think this lens has issues. I just think it's overpriced for what it delivers and the pro label should be removed.

I kept going back and forth on ordering this lens. The first week using it I was so happy that I did. It's an amazingly fun lens! It can turn an ordinary photo walk into a spectacularly fun way of seeing things with new eyes. I love the fact that the distortion from a wide lens can really be exaggerated or not depending on what your going for. It allows everything to look new!

This is the best wide angle zoom I have ever used. It faithfully reproduces what the eye sees with minimal distortion.

This lens performs very well optically. As is typical of the PRO line, the build quality is exceptional. The manual focus clutch is especially useful when doing astrophotography or any low light work. The weather sealing is great and I've taken it out in the rain, but this len's inability to take filters and the large bulbous front element means the weather sealing isn't as useful as it is for the other lenses in the PRO range. The lens is not heavy for what it is (fast super-wide zoom) but it is very front heavy, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to carry for long periods.

I have used this lens in a couple of initial sessions shooting landscapes in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains. I'm not a pro, so I won't be able to provide an exhaustive review, but I can make comparisons to other gear I've used. I have used an Olympus 9-18mm wide angle up to this point. I shoot a lot of sunrises and sunsets, and I have had continual issues with lens flare that have required me to jump through a lot of hoops (both shooting and editing) to make corrections. In addition, I ofte...

Excellent WA Optics
By LEONARD H.
Impressive Optics. Little noticeable barrel distortion. Optics appear to be just as good as my Canon 16-35mm L II. Having said that, I wish the lens design accommodated a filter so I could use a screw-on VND filter.
Heavyweight performance, lightweight portability. Though it is amazingly light and compact at 1.18 lbs., the M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm PRO lens (14 - 28mm 35mm equivalent) is a heavy hitter in the field. This lens is portable and weatherproof so you can take it anywhere. And with an ultra-wide angle of view and a bright f2.8 maximum aperture, you’ll capture more of every scene, from sprawling daytime panoramas to electric, super-sharp night scenes.7-14mm Focal

There’s a lot of very sophisticated technology tucked inside the M.Zuiko 7-14mm PRO lens. 14 individual lens elements in 11 groups featuring 3 Super ED lenses, 1 ED lens and 2 EDA lenses work in complete harmony to reduce chromatic aberration for pinpoint-sharp starscapes. And Olympus’ proprietary Z.E.R.O. (Zuiko Extra-Low Reflecting Optical) coating practically eliminates ghosting and flaring in back-lit scenes.
Weatherproof seals in 11 separate locations on the lens body make the M.Zuiko 7-14mm PRO lens virtually impervious to dust and moisture. Capture stunning images of nature in the raw without worrying about ocean spray, waterfalls or torrential downpours!
The M.Zuiko PRO 7-14mm’s working distance of just under 2.9 inches (7.5cm) from the front of the lens – allows you to move in tight on macro subjects, while the lens’s ultra-wide field of view captures more of the background for added drama. Maximum image magnification is 0.12x (0.24x 35mm equivalent).
Videographers and street shooters will really appreciate the M.Zuiko 7-14mm PRO’s unique MSC (Movie-Still Compatible) mechanism, which provides swift, nearly silent autofocus operation. Capture candid shots without startling your subjects, and enjoy the full spectrum of sound in filmed scenes without the distracting “whirr” of the lens element moving back and forth as the focus shifts.
If you like adjusting camera settings on the fly, the M.Zuiko 7-14mm PRO makes it as easy as pushing a button – the L-Fn button. Assign any of 27 functions to the button, which is positioned right on the lens barrel for easy access. Another cool feature is the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism; switch instantly between auto and manual focus by simply pulling the focus ring toward you.
