This is an amazing product but the rods are super stiff and snapped when trying to secure in place. Other than that it does an amazing job similar to the Broncolor equivalent. If there is a way to get replacement rod that would be awesome.

The light this emits is amazing, the only draw back is that because of its difficult setup, it?s only suits studio work (unless your okay with the setup time)

The 27.5 is perfect for the work I do as I?m a portrait & headshots photographer. It?s easy to setup and break down and it fits perfectly in a corner of my trunk. I recommend and very pleased with this.

The versatility of light placement within the modifier makes it very valuable in a studio setting.

*DOES NOT COME WITH GRID. The build is premium and better than I expected, after examining a Broncolor 222. No doubt this para will serve me well. I ordered a smaller version too. The focusing rod is just long enough for this large para. I don't recommend using a mono block unit on the focusing rod, but instead invest in a remote flash head that connects to a power pack or monoblock head. In my case, I use an AD600 pro with a remote flash head. You will need a strong Cstand or better for this. It is large. Fill the supplied bag with aquarium gravel for a good weight.. I only give this 4 stars because the lack of a grid, which would've been great. I ordered through Amazon but it came from Adorama.

Bought the 28 and a month later purchased the 36 and 55. The light coming out of of these soft boxes is incredible. Soft but crisp with a beautiful fall off. My Mola and Profoto modifiers are now in the process of collecting dust. The ease of setup is key when working as a one man band. With that said I do wish the 28 and 36 versions had a hard beauty dish deflector or light scatter option. I may do a diy hack and use my mola pad and opal diffuser if possible. Other than that i would love for Adorama to expand this line with rectangular options such as a 3x4 and 2x3.

I recently bought the 55" and am in love with this light. I think the build quality is great and using my AD 600 pro with the extension head is perfect for it. I have also tried the 400 and it worked perfect. I am thinking I could put two lights in it for when I need more power on a bright day.

From a videography newbie's perspective, this softbox has a smart design. As the unit did not come with a user manual, it did take me a few minutes to figure out how to open and to close, nonetheless once that was figured out, the process was simple, straightforward forward and easy to operate. I have another parabolic softbox from another brand where I had to insert each of the frames to the side of the supporting ring. To a novice like me, that is a lot more difficult and time-consuming to setup and that is something I would never want to take apart once it's setup. With this Glow unit, I have no issue taking it down and to set it up again with the simple process involved. I give this a 5-star rating, but it would have helped if a sheet of user guide was included or available online somewhere.

I got the 27.5" size because I wanted the extra diffuse and soft light of a larger modifier while keeping the convenient size of a beauty dish. This deep parabolic softbox from Glow is my first and it definitely does not disappoint. The materials feel high quality and the whole box looks exquisite for lack of a better term. The light it produces is very soft and well controlled. Set up and break down is easy. These new generation of high quality parabolic modifiers that open with external rods (at affordable price points) have replaced my octaboxes because of how easy it is to use. I'm able to fully open the box within 24 seconds with the inner baffle, outer diffuser, and grid already attached and ready to go. Breaking it down and storing it in the supplied travel bag is a quick 40 seconds. This is a time-saver for location shoots especially if you're bringing more than 1 modifier. One thing I should point out is the external rods are fitted very tightly but so far, after several times of opening and closing the box, their structural integrity remains intact. I am considering more from the Glow Profond series at different sizes. Attached is a photo.

I found this softbox too narrow and long. I like the quick open feature but I find hardly use for it in the house.

I came to the Profond 35.4" from several years of using the 38" and 28" Parapop. The deep Profond certainly has a larger presence, but is gorgeous and stout. It takes a little longer to open as it has so many more rods, but is not a lengthy process. Even without the outer diffuser the light is clean and beautiful. Add the outer and it only softens more. I especially appreciate how well fitting the diffusers are after having poorly fitted ones with other softboxes in the past. Make no mistake - this is a quality softbox with the weight, build and presence to match. I wondered whether the differences would be worth the cost but I have been extremely happy with the Profond and look forward to replacing my 28" Parapop with the Profond equivalent. The single and double diffused light are both clean and pleasing. My only gripe would be the small amount of play from the gap left in the speedring adapter. Easy fix though. Very happy with the purchase!

Its very solid, no question. Build quality and the light produced by this is great. The main issue and deal breaker to me is that there is no gel holder included or even available for this softbox after speaking with the staff. Due to it having the poles on the exterior you can't even clip gels onto the frame so if you have bi-color lights or don't deal with variable lighting situations like warm interior lights it won't be an issue. For me however, with Aputure 120d ii's it is an issue. I wish the light dome ii's weren't always on backorder, they come standard with a gel holder.

Love this softbox! Produces a really big, beautiful, soft light and setup/teardown could not be easier! I got this as an alternative to the Aputure Light Dome and was not disappointed at all. Build quality is great too. I'm a believer!!

Ok- have used the $800 version and now this one. The light is very crisp and tight. The snaps are VERY easy- just pop up 2 at a time opposite of each other- then to release- pull up just a bit to relieve the tension and unsnap. Took only 20 seconds to do. MUCH better than feeding rods... Will be buying 5 more for all my shooters to use.

I was not sure whether or not it would be worth the price premium over the EZ Lock. For me, yes it is. Feels very high quality, setup and takedown is quick and easy, can't wait to use it on a shoot.

From the stylish and professional design to its high-quality construction, the Profond Quick-Open 47.2" Deep Parabolic Softbox is a versatile and essential tool for photographers seeking to master light manipulation. This large, 47.2-inch softbox is compatible with Bowens, a respected brand in the photography industry, ensuring seamless integration with your existing equipment.
Crafted with a unique parabolic design, this softbox is supported by 18 sturdy nylon fiberglass rods, eliminating the need for metallic dowels or 'bones' that could disrupt the perfectly shaped silvered interior bowl. This design ensures a softened, diffused light that mimics natural sunlight, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor photography.
The Profond Quick-Open system simplifies setup and disassembly, eliminating the struggle of securing rods into lock position. This feature, coupled with its convenient storage capabilities, makes this softbox a practical choice for photographers on the go.
The softbox's octagonal shape and black and yellow color scheme suggest its use as a primary light source. The internal grid helps control the spread of light, creating defined shadows and adding depth to your images. This makes it perfect for portrait and product photography, as well as full-length figure, fashion, large group shots, and commercial assignments.
The Profond Quick-Open Deep Parabolic Softbox also serves as an excellent reflector, blending perfectly with daylight or additional fill soft lights. By adding the outer diffuser shield, you can adjust the overall wash of sharper light to a less harsh attitude, providing flexibility in achieving your desired lighting effect.
The inner diffuser independently avoids hotspots while maintaining the 'pop' of the silvered rim of material extending beyond its position. The use of both outer and inner double diffusion material combine to produce very soft light, thereby creating three levels of contrast, sharpness, and dimension.
In essence, the Profond Quick-Open 47.2" Deep Parabolic Softbox is more than just a light modifier; it's a tool for creating profoundly epic photos. Trust in Glow's commitment to enriching your photographic creativity with this durable, high-quality softbox.
