After a lot of reading reviews and other information, I decide that the next lens I wanted to purchase would be an 85mm prime lens. I had previously decided that I would only invest in the highest quality lenses, and the choice was down to two, the Sony 85mm GM, or the Sigma 85mm DG DN Art lens. After doing my homework, I opted for the Sigma lens, and I am very pleased with it so far. I have used it for taking portraits, and also pictures of a hummingbird that is nesting in one of our trees. I am looking forward to learning all of the different way this lens can be used to take amazing photos.

LOVE! I was debating between this and the GM for my Sony a7iv and am so glad I went with this option. It gives me the results I want and I haven't had an issue with sharpness. It's light and was a great addition to my 24-70.

I love this lens. It has brought my Sony A7iii alive. Took it out to a country cabin for the weekend with my kids and grandkids and got some amazing pictures. Now I think I am going to have to invest in a Sigma 35 mm dg DN art lens. absolutely love it.

Absolutely amazing lens. Beutiful image quality, good size and fast autofocus. The reviews are true...this lens is a gem. I used to shoot Nikon and had an 85mm 1.8G which was a great lens but tis lens is on another level entirely. Wide open the sharpness is fantastic and it isn't much larger than my Nikon 1.8G lens. I honestly can't think of one single down side to this lens.

Paired with my A7IV, it is outstanding. I'm an amateur, and it's produced beautiful portrait shots and sharp video as well. And in terms of size, it feels perfectly balanced. No extra bulk, just tack sharp shots even wide open.

Beautiful image quality, smaller and lighter than expected - using on Leica SL2-s. One star deduction for inconsistent focus at times (increased hunting) even though the accuracy is good, usually happens in lower light and wider aperture but still noticeable versus competition. Using latest firmware for both camera and lens. When good light and shooting at mid to high aperture, it is much better but still hunts. The SL2-s is contrast detect vs phase detect and is normally very fast and accurate (and no PDAF artifacts when converting images to monochrome!). I also use the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 on R5 and no hunting at all. Still would highly recommend this lens for size, price and image quality.

Really happy with the lens so far; I?ve used it on two portrait sessions and was pleased with the quick autofocus and beautiful glass. I appreciate the multiple ways to control aperture, but definitely have to get used to it. I keep forgetting that I have it set to the click wheel on the lens, and try to control it with the camera! I also thought the lens hood was stuck on for a bit, and had simply missed that there?s a nice button on the bottom that keeps the hood hanging tight to the lens. Nice feature but again, just something new.

Honestly it's my favorite lens in my kit to shoot with. The Sony 85 gm is just as sharp with almost the same bokeh but this one knocks it out of the park! Its lighter, a bit smaller and the autofocus is stupid quite, whereas in the sony is has this annoying gear noise. I sold my gm and got two sigma with that and have had no regrets at all.
