The Dual IS firmware update (12/2017) has made this lens even better for stabilized images... The power zoom is very convenient, smooth and quick for moving shots. The images are consistently clear and crisp. Pairs very nicely with my GX1 and G85.

I've used this lens BEFORE the 1.3 update for lens stabilization and shot some great photos in RMNP. Tiz a weekend now and cannot get to the download. Will try again soon. I am impressed with this lens and it's price.

Please update the last firmware (2013) to add support for Dual IS stabilization ! You previously annouced a release in Feb 2016, but still nothing... I don't recommend this product until Panasonic releases the update.

I find I use this lens a lot more on my Oly EPL-5 than I thought I would. It puts out really sharp pictures, though things soften up a bit above 150mm (as expected). This lens also takes great "macro-style" close-up pics, assuming you can hold the camera steady. The internal zoom is a BIG plus for me, as this thing takes up MUCH less room than those APS-C zooms. It's plastic, so it feels plastic-y and light, but then again most lens bodies are plastic these days, especially for this price point. Remember, this is not a pro-level lens so the f-stop isn't fantastic and it's not weather-proof, but I've still taken some great images with it. Great lens, great price. You won't be disappointed (unless you're looking to count whiskers on wild animals; you'll need a longer lens for that).

Internal Functions: All lens movement to zoom or focus is internal to the lens. No extended barrel. 4. Price. Adorama sold the lens new at a used price. Watch for specials!

This lens has so little mass, you will hardly remember that you have it in place ... but it will be ready for your next great shot. Fast zooming and focusing. Don't worry if there is a clunking sound as you move the lens about ( and there is NO need to shake it!) because this goes away when the lens is powered and ready. Lots of notes about this online, although -- and contrary to other reviews -- I found no mention of this in the included instructions. Also: do not forget to go to Panasonic's firmware update page. The lens was up to date as shipped, but my GH3 needed a download.

I bought this to go with my new Panasonic GH4 camera. I like the 45-175 because it is sharp and does not extend when zooming. Everything is internal.
