Amazing camera!

I absolutely love this camera! It takes the best nostalgic but still crisp looking flash photos and it's so small I can fit it in my purse. I'm obsessed.

Shipping was quick!

Just got the camera today and I am so happy with my purchase. Definitely more of a professional camera but its fun to play with. When I ordered it shipped the next day! I was worried because of all the bad reviews but I had no problems at all except for delivery, it requires a signature right at the door and if you don't answer FedEx re-attempts to deliver (Max is 3 tries and they hold it for you for about 10 days before being sent back to the shipper) which could be inconvenient for some. Definitely appreciate that they keep it safe though!

CANCELLED ORDER

I placed my order 5 weeks ago and have been waiting for the camera since. They randomly tried to charge my card at midnight and since I had the money in my savings and not my checking, they cancelled my entire order. I called customer service and told me they could creat a new order but I would be back at the bottom of the line, even though I have already waited 5 weeks. Decided to not give canon my money anymore because that is absolutely ridiculous. They will give you no heads up on when they charge your card, so make sure you have the full amount in your account at all times

DO NOT ORDER

I bought this item at the end of December. They charged my card then said they gave the money back after 3 days then tried to REcharge my card again today because they got some cameras in and it wouldn't process so they cancelled my order. But I never leave this much money in my checking it's all in my savings. Had they sent an email to me BEFORE they cancelled my order in attempts to try and charge it I would have transferred the funds. But I got no prior emails , they only sent one when they cancelled my order. Horrible service and it makes it worse that I had been waiting going on 3 months for this stupid camera and needed it for an upcoming spring break trip.

I LOVEEE

My first and probably favorite camera ever! It's small and compact but does a perfect job at taking pictures. I mainly use it for personal use for my social media and my photos have never looked better. There are tons of different settings you can use to make your photos look amazing you just have to play around with it a bit.

Flash Issue on 2 Cameras of This Model

I bought the camera in June 2017. In December 2021, the flash died. There was a big flash and a pop and the smell of burning. The flash did not work. Canon offered to replace the camera for half price. What a mistake. Now the flash in the new camera works for 1 shot and then will not work for 5 minutes to cool. I do not recommend you buy the camera unless you never use the flash or pay for the 4 year maintenance contract. I have bought multiple Canon camera for over 20 years for my daughters and myself. This is the first model that I've had problems with the flash.

Compact and Powerful

I purchased this compact Canon for travel to Japan. I have several full frame cameras including a Mark V and Mark IV along with 85, 24-75, 70-200 lenses, equipment that's very heavy. The GX7 Mark II has the focal range I wanted, the weight and the speed needed to capture the photos and video that I wanted. Focus worked well and the battery life worked for me. I purchased two additional batteries just in case, but never ran out of power during the day. Having the backups went well. I did purchase a larger wrist strap for comfort level and a screen protector for potential scratches since this is my view finder. Since I don't use a selfie stick, the location of the batery compartment was not an issue for me. Recording with sound can be a challenge in windy conditions, just place a wind muff by the built in mic. (not included). Once I uploaded the video the sound level was adequate and I could hear items much better than directly from the camera. The controls are easy to use same standard Canon controls I have on my full frame cameras. Touch screen is an added bonus, still getting aquainted with that since I am used to non-touch screen Canon Camera controls. Although there is no viewfinder, I found using the screen worked well. I didn't miss the viewfinder and really enjoyed being able to angle some shots, selfies, etc. A lot of my shots were taken while on the move wth little time to compose them. Overall I found this to be an excellent purchse and add to my Canon equipment. Recomendations for improvement would be an extenal mic jack, move that battery compartment for those who use a selfie stick, add a more comfortable wrist strap. I researched several other brands and opted to purchase the G7X Mark II, even over the Mark III. Great little camera.

Very quality photos

Last year, I completed 50 years of motorsports action photography in 13 US states & 2 Canadian provinces. I have the big DSLR's and now a 2 year old R6 mirrorless. I have always had a Canon digital pocket size Point & Shoot since 2006, being 3 models but 6 of them. When the S120 got 'foreign material' inside the lens (just like the other 2 previous models), I chose the replacement to be the G7 X M2. I love its size, to fit into a shirt pocket, its rugged case, it does a really good job of auto focus, on "Auto" shooting mode (which I rarely use on my 'big' cameras) producing almost always absolutely wonderful high quality photos. As long as they are "still" photos. My 2 'big' camera's do "action" photos but they also can do the same "still" photos as the G7 but the size of the 'big' camera body with a big lens is just absolutely heavy and awkward to 'shoot' the same subject as I use the G7 for, with each camera producing the same photo quality. G7 is just such a handy size producing quality photos but its downsize is the subject need to be very nearby, as there is not much zoom in the lens, unlike my 3 other cameras, which includes a Canon SX540HS which is a very handy travel camera with a rather amazing short to long range zoom lens that produces a lot of nice photos, too. All 4 of my cameras have specific 'subjects' that they shoot. I am still 100% Canon equipment, now in its 18th year.

Pluses and Minuses

This little camera produces brilliant images, comparable to those produced by my top of the line SLR. However, the menus and icons are much too complicated and after two years I am still unable to understand them. For example, my thumb touched a dial on the back of the camera and it started producing three images every time I pressed the shutter. Took me weeks to figure it out, even with the instructions at hand. Still, used on "auto" or "program", this camera generally works well.

Great all around point and shoot

This is a perfect option for an all around, compact, point and shoot. I?ve had several compact cameras over the years and this is the best, as far as image quality goes. I keep this on me for quick use and holds up well against more expensive cameras.

Great Picture but flimsy

I purchased this for something light to throw in my pocket. My 6D is too bulky for day to day. This has a great quality photo however it is just not built up enough to withstand getting tossed in your pocket. I have already sent it back to have the zoom finger trigger fixed. It just seems too "dainty" for the price.

Perfect Little Camera

This camera takes stunning pictures and movies. I wanted a camera that was small enough to fit in my pocket, and that can deliver high quality images. I mostly use the camera in auto mode and have been extremely happy with the results. The battery lasts a long time as long as you don't use the Wi-Fi feature too much. All in all a great camera!

Great multi tasking camera

By MrOjoVerdes

So I bought this nifty little number for my holiday, was going to Yosemite national park, some beaches, so I wanted something small that could do lots of different shots in different environments. This camera does them all with ease, the more proficient camera user could mess around with the settings and such like and you would love it, for the novice, you can just leave it in auto and let the camera do it all for you.\ Wifi connecting is a great plus, the app works perfectly on my phone an...

Fantastic Camera! Great Vlogging Camera!

By Kyanz

I am a YouTube vlogger, and this is an amazing Point and Shoot Camera! I use many cameras: Canon VIXIA HF G40, Nikon D5200 (with a different lens and external mic), Nikon Coolpix S7000, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (Black), and more! But honestly, this is my favorite! For most of my filming I use the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and the Canon VIXIA HF G40 with the Shure VP83 Condenser Microphone. I am very impressed with the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II! Feed your love for photography with Canon’s PowerShot G7 X Mark II digital camera. Sporting a compact design, this powerful professional point-and-shoot camera combines speed and impressive performance. It features an advanced 1.0-inch 20.2 MP CMOS sensor, Canon’s new DIGIC 7 Image Processor, a speedy 4.2x optical zoom lens with a large f/1.4-f/2.8 aperture, up to 31 AF points, and high-speed continuous shooting of up to 8 frames per second.

.

1.0-inch CMOS Sensor

This Canon PowerShot camera has a powerful built-in 1-inch CMOS camera sensor with as much as 20.2 megapixels. This revolutionary feature enables the user to take photos with high sensitivity without being grainy. The sensor collects more light at a much faster rate, so you take only photos with outstanding details and rich gradation without blown-out highlights and unattractive graining usually caused by high ISOs. This allows you to use the ultra-high ISO 12800 while shooting in darker areas without worrying that it will ruin your photos taken in low light. Thanks to the sensor’s 20.2 megapixels maximum (which can go lower depending on image processing done in-camera), your images will have ultra-high resolution. This makes the PowerShot G7 X perfect for producing images that can be printed in both small and large sizes for business cards, wallet-sized pictures, flyers, tarpaulins, posters, standees, and even billboards!

1.0-inch CMOS Sensor

DIGIC 7 Image Processor

The new DIGIC 7 image processor makes tracking and detecting subjects easier and faster while retaining image sharpness and minimizing noise, even at high ISOs. Simply put, you can now start shooting moving subjects—like your dog, toddler or even a sprinting athlete—with ease. The image processor also features improved face recognition that automatically focuses on the subjects while you’re framing the image. The PowerShot G7 X also comes with the new Dual Sensing IS (image stabilization), which effectively reduces the dreaded internal camera shake that can be previously avoided only by using a steady tripod. Now, you can shoot handheld, and your subjects will remain in good focus even while in movement and in low light. This results in consistent, high-quality photos and videos with less grain and blurring.

DIGIC 7 Image Processor

Canon 24–100mm f/1.8–2.8 Lens

The Canon G7 X Mark II has a useful and highly remarkable lens that should not be underestimated. Despite its small size, it features an optical zoom lens that can fully maximize the camera’s powerful and sizable sensor. The lens also has a large, bright aperture hole that widens up to f/1.8. It can zoom up to 100mm and still be wide open at an aperture of f/2.8. This aperture value is the usual sweet spot for portraits with the subject in sharp focus while having beautiful off-focus bokeh—a result advanced hobbyists and professional photographers usually achieve with high-end digital SLRs and expensive detachable wide-diameter lenses.

Canon 24–100mm f/1.8–2.8 Lens
Canon

The Canon PowerShot camera’s optical zoom lens can effortlessly create impressive macro shots with the subject as close as 5cm when the lens is zoomed out at 24mm (and 40cm away when you’re zoomed in). On top of that, its powerful and versatile lens can also be used for high-speed photography, thanks to its ability to capture up to 8 frames per second (in RAW, JPEG, and RAW+JPEG modes). It doesn’t make you wait before taking that priceless shot, making it a handy and convenient gear for travel and sports photography with a much lower price tag and in a smaller size.

Picture Style

Picture Style

The Picture Style function allows you to personalize your outputs without going full manual. With eight presets to choose from, you can adjust the color, contrast, and other aspects that will bring out the best in the subject or scenery. The Portrait mode keeps your subject in focus while creating a beautiful blur (bokeh) in the background, as well as a Landscape mode that ensures the most vibrant colors for shots with high dynamic range (HDR). You can even download additional Styles and create your own preset with Picture Style Editor for a wider variety of outputs to choose from.

Touch Panel LCD

Touch Panel LCD

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera features a big 3-inch high-resolution LCD monitor that tilts up at 180° and down at 45° for taking self-portraits and high/low-angle photos. It’s virtually glare-free and has a resolution of 1.04 million dots, so you can clearly review and compose shots easily, even when shooting in challenging weather. The capacitive LCD monitor also operates as a touch panel to let you change and adjust settings on screen with very light touches of a finger.

In-camera RAW Conversion

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera lets you take high-resolution RAW photos and edit them—without the need for a computer. After capturing your image, its powerful in-camera RAW conversion allows you to adjust the brightness, white balance, and other aspects of the photo. It allows you to switch between the original and edited image before finally saving your photo as a compressed JPEG. This saves you a lot of time during post-processing.

In-camera RAW Conversion

Versatile Control Ring

The versatile control ring is one of the best innovations on the PowerShot G7 X Mark II, as it eliminates the need for other buttons and rings for manually adjusting photo settings and navigating camera menus. It also comes with a selection lever that allows you to quickly switch between the step ring and continuous ring movements, depending on the demands of your current shooting situation. The Step ring is for choosing and changing between many different Picture Styles, as well as adjusting the aperture and shutter speeds faster with faint clicks. The Continuous ring movement is for achieving smoother, less abrupt adjustments when changing focus while in the middle of taking images or recording movies.

Versatile Control Ring

Wireless Sharing On The GO

Sharing your beautiful pictures is a breeze with the built-in Wi-Fi®/NFC connectivity. Partnered with Canon’s downloadable universal Camera Connect app, the PowerShot G7 X Mark II can connect directly to social networking sites, other cameras, compatible mobile devices, and Wireless LAN printers for quick and hassle-free image and video sharing and transfer. If you have an Android™ device with the latest OS versions, you can also use the innovative NFC feature and transfer media by simply tapping your camera and Android™ devices together.

Wireless Sharing

All these features are just some of the best innovations that the Canon PowerShot G7 X offers. It saves you a lot of time that you would otherwise use for transferring files from memory cards to card readers and downloading the content on your laptop before you can even start sharing your images and videos. Did we mention that you could also use your Android smartphone or tablet to shoot remotely? This allows you to take group photos, selfies, and angled shots that are out of your reach.
