It's not hard to attach if you line up the RED Dots. Same color as the Big Telephoto Lens!

At the same time that I purchased this accessory, I purchased the Canon EOS 7d since I needed a digital camera, cropped-frame, with HD video capability for scientific research documentation purposes (I am a university professor). I preferred to stay with Canon since I already had an assortment of EF lenses and I have always been completely satisfied with Canon products. Most of the additional lenses and accessories I chose that were required for my work at this time (macro photography for specimens, location landscape documentation, laboratory training multimedia presentations) will all be usable in the future as I plan to invest in a full-frame Canon EOS within a few years. All of these accessories have met or exceeded my expectations! I purchased the EF 1.4x II as a companion to the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L to extend the capability of the lens, and it works smoothly – exactly what I needed. Kudos also to Adorama, who has what must be the most extensive and impressive inventory I have yet to find online making one-stop shopping realistic (California does not have such a photography 'superstore'…). Packing was secure, shipping was fast, and personal contact service for advice was friendly and professional all the way. A wonderful experience – Thanks!

Works real well with Canon 70-200mm f/4.Doesn't fit my Canon 85mm 1/8.Which was a little disappointing.

I use this with 135mm F2L and 400mm F5.6L. Reduces IQ slightly but gets you there when the primes won't reach. Forget the 2x extender though unless you use one of the 2.8 L 300mm or 400mm.

I use the 1.4X with a Canon 50D and 70-200F2.8L lens. I use this combination the most when I am shooting Ducks, geese and other large birds in flight. The autofocus reacts very well with this combination (much faster and more accurate than with the 2X. I am very pleased with the quality of photographs.

I use this with my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II on either a 50D or 5D Mark II. Except for the small loss of light extenders cause, it allows my zoom to function normally, at 1.4, just as without it, on 2 sensor sizes equally well.

I use this on a Canon 70-200, f2.8L. Autofocus is fast and the results are sharp. The autofocus is sensitive enough to capture birds in flight, even the fast moving/darting Common Nighthawk. I definitly recommend the EF1.4 Extender.

Recently went to Bosque Del Apache wildlife preserve. I wanted to be able to get closer to the Sandhill Cranes. It took me two days to figure out how to get the best focus. The auto focus won't work with my 100 - 400 mm lens even though that lens was listed as retaining auto focus.

Inexpensive way to add versatility to your kit with out the added expense and weight of another L series lens - I've paired this with Canon's 300mm f/2.8 IS USM - I don't notice any significant loss in sharpness or autofocus speed and the 1 stop speed reduction is a small price to pay compared to the the equivalent stand alone lens - very happy with the purchase

Bought to shoot my Grandsons baseball games, With 70-200 F2.Does great job. IQ very good crisp & clear. Focus seems a little slow. Overall very good purchase. I Can put the money saved into another L lens.

Made a 400 into a 560 in seconds. Great for those animals that won't let you get too close.

It's not a substitute for a 300mm lens. I used it on my Canon 70-200 f2.8 and was not satisfied with the results. Colors were bland and very diffucult to focus on sports. It might be ok for still work, but I don't shoot that. I'm going back to cropping.

I purchased the 1.4 Extender to use with my Canon 70-200mm 2.8L lens photographing birds in my yard and at my feeders. I have also used it photographing bighorn sheep in Colorado. I have taken several hundred photos and am very satisfied with the performance of the extender. The auto focus is fast and accurate and the IQ is very good. It is an excellent match for the lens at the distances I am photographing birds. Actually better than I expected bringing in the bighorn sheep. I can not wait for the humming birds to return next summer. I anticipate excellent results from the lens/extender combination.

Instead of carrying a longer lens (or buying a longer lens) I decided that this bad boy would fit easily in my gear bag (cheaper alternative as well). I'm generally a landscape shooter so I'm generally shooting at a very high apeture (at least F/18) so the one stop of lost light doesn't impact me.

I use the extender for shooting live action sporting events, specifically college soccer. The range extension is great: expanding 70-200 by 1.4 really makes a difference. The trade-off is a slower autofocus time -- the camera/lens/extender take longer to focus on the subject you want, which can cause missed shots. But I'm new to the product, so I'm still learning. The loss of focus is greater at night, and not so noticeable during daytime events outdoors.

makes your 70-200mm Canon L lens a 98mm-280mm zoom, or on a Canon Rebel body a 156mm-448mm lens...you lose only one f/stop. It is small, lightweight but ruggedly built, you will hardly know it's there...I can see no optical degradation using this extender. Highly recommended!

Very satisfied with this, when I attach it to my 300mm f 2.8 IS. I have virtualy no loss in image quality. With this teleconverter attached, I now have a 420MM lens at half of the weight of a 400mm 2.8.

It works pretty good with my 70-200 2.8. If you have the dough you are better served with the 100-400 5.6 canon lens for the focal length. I want to try it on the 135 2l lens to see how it works. When the auto focus works it works well but you do lose a stop. No big deal outside, not sure how it will work inside at the hockey rink.

Bought this converter to use with my Canon 70-200 f2.8 for shooting baseball and football. It helps somewhat but for the price and the loss of 1 full f-stop it's not really worth the money.

I needed a little more telephoto then the 70mm to 200mm zoom that I had and the Converter Did the job. It does slow the focus down but does not cause problems. Great way to have a larger telephoto without spending thousands of dollars

I bought this with the f/2.8L IS USM 70-200 lens. I use it for sports mainly. I can get excellent shots all around a soccer field, using 1/2500 and faster, no problem. I plan on getting a 2x extender very soon to give me even a little bit further reach. An excellent accessory for the "L" series lenses.

I had an older 500mm lens and began to wish for something better. It was sharp but it was an f/4.5, which meant if I put even a 1.4x tele-converter (also called a tele-extender) on it, it became an f/6.7—which doesn’t allow enough light for my c...

I used it for a while with my 70-200 f4/IS. It works great and produces very sharp and clear images. I tested it on a tripod - and found no problems at all. Better than cropping an image taken without an extender. You need a lens that is at least f/4 fast, if you want to use the AF, that is a fact (but there is a "tape hack" for that). You lose one stop, indeed - this is just physics (actually - geometry). Those who complain about the 1 stop loss simply do not understand what f/4 or f/5.6 me...

This tele extender can be used with fixed focal length lenses 135mm and longer (except the 135mm f/2.8 Softfocus lens), and the EF 70-200 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 70-200 f/4.0L, and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS zoom lenses. Superb optically, it preserves the image quality of the lens it's mounted to and multiplies its focal length 1.4x. Effective aperture is reduced by one f-stop; autofocus is possible on any EOS camera when combined with a lens having an f/4 or faster maximum aperture. The new version II maintains the outstanding optics of the previous version, and adds enhanced weather- resistant construction, and improved anti-reflective surfaces in the barrel.
(When used with EF Extender EF 1.4x II, the EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens is compatible for auto exposure with all EOS cameras. However, you lose autofocus with all EOS cameras except those with a 45-point AF system, such as EOS-3, EOS-1v, EOS-1D, EOS-1Ds and EOS-1D Mark II. Only the center focusing point is functional when this lens/extender combination is used with the 45-point AF cameras. Also, when the EF100-400L is used with the EF 1.4x II, the Image Stabilizer function does not work with older EOS 35mm cameras such as the EOS 650, 620, 630/600, RT, 700, 750, 850, EOS-1, A2/A2E, 10s, Elan, Rebel/Rebel S, and Rebel II/Rebel SII.)
