Used Onkyo TX-NR797 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver, 220W Per Channel (At 6 Ohms)

Was looking to upgrade my surround sound from 5.1 to a full Atmos experience. My first A/V Receiver was a Onkyo TX-NR585. I have been looking at the Onkyo TX-NX797 but the price is a bit steep at $799 and up. So when l saw the price for open box starting at $280 I jumped at it. The total price including delivery came to $320. It included the reciver, remote, both AM and FM antennas and instructions booket. As will everything these days you have to go online to download the manual. The setup is straight forward, The only problem I ran into was a over heating fault once everything was set up. Try calling customer service but got nothing. Lucky YouTube came to the rescue and I was able to reset the receiver. Besides that little issue the Receiver is everything I hoped it would be. Very powerful and truly amazing. I'm very happy with the purchase and price. Would buy another open box from this company if I was looking for something they sell.Other then their phone customer service no complaints.

So I have pioneer elite 305 in the living room which is basically this receiver with HDMI 2.1 and Dirac .... and I got this beauty for the bedroom.... I tried a Denon 7.2 first but unfortunately 2 of the back channels did not work and had to be returned and for only a hundred bucks more this one was a steal!!! it has everything I need and also I wanted a THX certified receiver and it may not mean anything but its a nice bonus to me....shipping was quick and arrived on time.... first time I've ever ordered directly from adorama and will be ordering again.

I replaced a very old Onkyo receiver that was top of the line for it's day, 7.2, limited to hdmi 1.4, so no 4k60. My NVidia Shield is my primary player in my movie room. I also recently replaced my trusty crusty Panasonic ae3000 (on a 14ft Da-Lite screen) projector with a shiny new 4k Benq. The pic and sound looked great with the new projector on the old receiver, but it made a very noticeable difference going with the new 797. Being able to kick it up to 4k60 made the content that support it really pop. I added a pair of Atmos speakers - the movies that support it - the effect was subtle but noticeable. The effect made the sound more enveloping rather than 2-dimensional. So far - 5 stars. Well worth the money.

You can't beat it for the price. Strong power in 9.2 setup. Tuning can take some time as there is a decent amount of sound customization options. Overall I am happy with my purchase, and would recommend this receiver for a good home theater setup at this price point

I was very pleased with your company's response to replacing a defective first TX-NR797. I was able to get a fully working replacement within about 4 days and a refund for the first unit in 7 days. I have always found Adorama fully responsive to my needs, and the Onkyo TX-NR797 fits my needs well. I would however reccomend that anyone ordering this unit to get on Onkyo's web site and download the 180- page manual that has very detailed settup instructions (including how to turn off Zone two speakers!)

I ordered the TX-NR797 to replace an Onkyo SR606. This was my third Onkyo system. I like them because of the separate channel option. My home is already wired for the 7.1 and I have speakers on the deck for the Zone 2 channel. The receiver does not come with a manual, you have to download it. This is why I only give it 4 stars. Nothing like a printed manual you can keep near by your unit in case you need to make adjustments. The quick setup that comes with it does show you much of what you need to get it hooked up but they tell you to download a Google app to control the receiver. After total frustration, I called the number supplied by Onkyo. The rep was great. The app I needed was an Onkyo app. Now I've got my surround sound back and it's kicking and my tunes come over the net and it ain't Spoyify it's "Radio Paradise" which I play in zone 2 controlled by my phone. Great product, needs a hard copy manual

Replaced an aging TX-RZ620 with this TX-NR797. Early 2022, selection and availability are slim. Adorama had this in stock. It?s proving to be a good upgrade. Dolby Atmos sounds great, picture is near perfect. I have the HDMI inputs maxed out with various devices and this handles them all with ease.

Awesome receiver. Works great and a huge upgrade to my previous 5.1 LG Soundbar. My family enjoys watching movies on another level and we really enjoy our Dolby Atmos experience. Of course the speakers are not included but you should already know that.

This is the first receiver we have purchased. Firstly I would like to say that Adorama service is amazing. The receiver is amazing and gives clarity sound. We are still exploring the features on the receiver.
