Great lens for the canon 60D

I used this lens for taking soccer pictures at our local soccer club. It was fast on the focus and the quick zooming was a great asset.

Canon EF-S 55-250 performs as expected

Pictures are sharp. This is my first experience with image stabilization which was the reason I bought the lens. The image stabilization works great. This is a good lens at a good price.

Great lens and price

I use this lens for outdoor and wildlife photography. It is well balanced and fairly fast. An added plus for me, I bought the lens used ( rated E+). The lens hood was included, can't tell the difference between my used lens and a new one. Used is a great way to go when purchased from a good dealer like Adorama.

Got the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II

Lens came very fast and did not look "refurbished" at all. It's an excellent, inexpensive telephoto with IS that every Canon owner should have. The other noteworthy thing is that I expected the IS version and they sent the IS II instead. After researching both, I see that the II is newer which people say received only cosmetic changes (no silver ring, wording & font changes etc) but you never know. It looks brand new. Buy It!

Love this product!

I absolutely love this lens! I use this lens more than any of my other ones and it definitely works like new. Images turn out great. It's not too heavy but if you use this lens you should definitely use a tripod or have something to support while shooting. Other than that, LOVE IT.

Best price ever! <3 Why buy new lens, if you can purchase refurbished (tested) lens for 1/2 of price :)

Great Lens

This lens is ideal for someone on a budget or who wants the range but knows it may get infrequent use. Produces sharp images and has a decent build quality considering it's low price point. I believe it's an underrated lens. The refurb. I purchased cannot be told from new...very pleased with condition and performance of this lens on my T2i.

excellent lens for money

Very sharp lens; useful focal range; small, light, easy to carry; image stabalization; good construction considerng price; it is a slow lens, but again price is right; very pleased with lens & can recommend without reservation for those on a budget looking for a lens capable of delivering sharp photos.

For price range, a great starting lens.

I was able to purchase this lens here for half of what it costs new (based on this amazing used lens rating system here.) I haven't spent a ton of time with the L series of lens so it's hard to even try to compare this to that glass. I will say that for me (not having a ton of zoom lens experience,) I was hoping that it would zoom in farther. I think that if you are considering this and don't understand the compression of the background then you should google that before you buy this. It's in an interesting range...sometimes I pull the camera up and the subject is too close, but say if there's a bird or something I want a shot of...it doesn't zoom as much as you would hope. These are not complaints! It's more a matter of getting used to the distance you should be using it for. So I would say it's best for subjects that are close but you want to fill the screen with (not macro there is no option for it) or subjects that are short to medium distance away. To me, the background compression is the biggest difference between this and other lenses I have. I can't comment on durability because I haven't had it for very long. It's very light, it feels like one drop could ruin it (isn't that how lenses are though?)

Worth every penny

I like the range of focus. I use this lens for portrates and candids. I also use it to photograph birds on my bird feeders. Tranquild scenes, rushing waters of a waterfall and more. I take this lens with me everywhere.

It arrived exactly when Adorama said it would. Would i recommend this refurbished lens. I most definately woud for anyone that want's a 55-250 at a very reasonable price and to save some money.

Not a quality lens

I'm not very happy with this lens. I bought it and it's basically sat in my bag because I can't find a use for it. You absolutely MUST use a tripod with this lens if you want sharp images. The lens creep is pretty tough to work around. By seeing the other reviews, maybe I just haven't found the right use for it because I don't use it often.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Sta

For right now I am using this lens for everything, from portraits to sports photography. I really enjoying using it and it is all around a great starting lens. Again the keyword is 'starting lens' so it is lacking the bokeh that I would like, sadly thought the f2.8's in a 70-200mm bring you into the L series and are exponentially more expensive.. as they should be for such a high quality of glass. Considering though the price of this lens was under $200 (USD) it is an amazing lens that has given me the reach to go shoot sports and get right up in the action with great quality. Even at 6400 ISO this lens holds up very well leaving me very pleased with the image quality for the money. Again in my eyes and in my growth in photography I really would like a f2.8 70-200mm to allow for that better bokeh. Sadly though, an L series lens just isn't in the budget for right now. Therefore this Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens is what I have and a great tool to learn on! I would very much so buy the lens again, even knowing what I know now about it and after using it. For the price it is the best!

Good value

I use this as a general purpose activity lens to compliment the 18-55 kit. Nice zoom, good quality, just a little off with the focus if there is movement so that some action shots aren't as crisp as I'd like. Nice value for the price.

Excellent lens, great quality!

This lens is fantastic! I've used this lens for everything from close-up pictures of wildlife to portraits in-studio and all results came out beautifully. The quality of the pictures taken with this lens is incredible. I highly recommend this lens to anyone from casual photographer to pro.

Very good value

It was a gift, but not for me. It was my granddaughter's Christmas present. She loves it. It is exactly what she wanted and it didn't break the bank. She's a good budding photographer, but young and not ready for very expensive lenses because I am not sure she's committed to a Canon system yet. The lens focuses quickly and accurately, is stabilized, and lets her get close to distant objects. She's using it a lot and enjoying it. It takes good, sharp pictures and that's what it needs to do. She uses it almost exclusively on manual focus, as she does all her lenses, by the way.

Clarity for low price

I use it to zoom into subjects for gaining depth of field. The lens does a very good job at stabilizing.

It is what it is

I'm a rookie! So for me it is OK. It sure isn't the best. It is priced right, I like the image stabilization, and the telephoto aspect of the lens. Taking these features into consideration it is a very good value.

Excellent for the money!

Just got back from Hawaii. I took over 4000 pics. Probably a third of them with this lens. I just started scanning through them. So far I am very pleased with the results. A few out of focus shots on the beach but I'm sure that's more my fault than troble with the lens. I would recommend this lens to a beginner such as myself.

Great deal

By Rebel u.

This lens is great for the price. It has a good range and is a perfect complement to the Canon 18-55 IS kit lens that comes with the XSI. It takes decent pictures without a tripod thanks to IS, but a tripod definitely helps. Adorama is the best deal. Even though it's refurbished, it looked brand new when I received it. For [$] it's a deal!

Quite pleased

By Aspiring e.

This lens is great for travel photography. I've been using it for the last few weeks and am quite pleased. Overall a good lens. Focus is a little sluggish but certainly acceptable. Did notice some flare in a few shots. Also, at 5" it doesn't fit in my present case. Don't worry about being refurb. Except for the small sticker on the lens cap (easily removed) you won't be able to tell the difference. With the money saved, I'll buy a lens hood and new case.

This telephoto zoom lens is designed with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology while retaining compactness and lightness, in response to demands of photographers.

This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses) and the image stabilizer effect equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer.

In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon's 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range.
