Product was fine but it wasn’t functional for my intended purpose of slide duplication using d7100

This lens has been referred to as the Swiss army knife of nikkor lenses. Well built, very sharp. Good for macro and portraits One of my favorite lenses.

I had the legendary 105 2.8 macro but never used it b/c of the extending barrel and just too long. This guy is compact, pretty light and really sharp, I mean really sharp. Ultra sharp macro (use a tripod, always) and I love it on the street or in the back country. This is a really sharp lens.

On my D40X this is really difficult to focus, especially in low light where the wide apature gives little depth of field and margin of error. (This does not autofocus on the D40, D40X). Much harder to focus than I thought it would be. Good sharp glass and fine on the copy stand and table top for macro work. Useless as a walking around lens on this camera.

It allows very specific lighting of small objects when on copy stand, even very close. On my D80 its autofocus is excellent whether using Spot or center-weighted. I used its predecessor on my F2 Nikon when I wasn't using my 85mm fixed focus (a great lens) even for pursuing friends children as well as for archaeological photography. The only other one I needed was a 35mm for church façades in narrow streets.

I love the 60mm 2.8 Nikon micro lens. I never knew bugs were so interesting. Everyone is amazed by my photos. The only thing I don't like is that I have to be right on top of the subject and so am considering purchasing the 200mm micro lense. But I am so glad that I got this one first. I really gained my love for macro photography through the use of this awesome lens.

Very very sharp lens, with excellent color and low light-falloff. Does not autofocus on the latest low-end digital (D40, D60, etc.), but that's a small price to pay for an otherwise perfect lens.

One of the best lenses I have in my bag. The copy that I have is very sharp. I can say that, for all eight Nikon lenses I own...this one is the sharpest. It can focus down to a 1:1 life size reproduction ratio. I use it a lot for coin collections and small objects.

Terrific lens. Very sharp. I use it a lot for my macro work and I find it to be tack sharp. It can be combined with the Tamron 2x converter to give the equivalent of a 120mm lens (180 after crop factor) for really terrific close ups.

The biggest challenge photographers face when shooting nature close-ups is how to get a sharp image.
Macro underwater photography is a great place to start your journey in underwater photography. It’s much simpler than wide angle, and good shots can be achieved with much less gear.
