This lens is awesome! I own the 18-55 also BUT the 18-55 is not as good as this lens. This lens is sharper, built like a tank and the fixed 2.8 is a necessity if you tend to shoot in low light. I highly recommend it and consider it a must have.

I've done a few sessions and some personal photos with this since getting it and I'm a huge fan. I just switched over from Canon and this is my first Fuji zoom lens. It's sharp, fast, and produces a nice image.

Great multipurpose zoom. Very well built. Awesome overall quality. A real series of prime lenses in one zoom! I love the 16mm especially. So convenient when doing street photography and shooting a building from the opposite sidewalk. The size and weight of this zoom aren?t a problem at all.

Truly exceptional lens. Razor sharp, even wide open. I was worried about the size and weight. It?s one of the larger zooms from Fuji, but still perfectly reasonable given the image quality.

This is currently my preferred lens for the X system from Fujifilm. Probably their most versatile lens, I think it replaces several lenses. It’s superbly sharp and covers a great range of focal lengths. With its weather resistance features, constant f/2.8 aperture and focal length this is a great lens for travel photography. If you’re on the fence, rent it, otherwise you can’t go wrong having this lens.

I contemplated about buying this lens for over 2 years, reading and watching many countless reviews. The majority of them said it only offers a small IQ improvement over the 18-55mm kit lens. They said most users are better off with the 18-55mm because the 16-55mm is heavier, larger, expensive and has no IS. With the current holiday sale, I decided to try the lens myself. Well, I was impressed. This lens is sharp. There's a pop to the images - whether that is a combination of sharpness, contrast and color - I don't know. I'm using it with the X-H1 and the balance is good and I really don't notice the additional weight. Very happy with it. No regrets buying it!

Very sharp zoom lens that matches the performance of certain prime lenses. If you were to only have one fuji lens this would probably have to be it. The build quality is solid and is reflected in the weight of the lens. The quality of the amazing pictures you are going to take will help you forget about the weight of this lens.

A hefty beast. While the 18-55 kit lens is very solid and economical, there is no comparison to the 16-55 in quality. I was shocked at how much better even just silly test shots were in my living room.

This lens makes my photo life so convenient because though it is a little heavy I don't really have to carry too many other lenses. It's also got great build quality and feels great in the hands. There's this one thing that also bothered me with external zooms where if you hold it upside-down the lens would sort of 'fall' and extend itself - but this one manages to not do that. It doesn't sound like a big thing but it does get knocked around when hanging on my person and I don't want to worry about it breaking. This lens is great!

Bought this lens with the 6L sling and strap lite. This lens is really impressive with it's build quality and image quality. I try to carry it everywhere I go because it just makes me want to take more pictures but the only down-side is that it is a little heavy for longer walks. I don't really mind the weight though, especially because I don't find the need to carry too many other lenses with the zoom - extremely convenient! I also carry the sling everywhere with me, even if I'm not carrying a camera because it actually does fit a lot into it without feeling too bulky.

I've been a Fuji prime shooter for years and finally plunked down to get this constant aperture 24-85ish equivalent and it's worth every penny. Solid, well built, weather resistant, the images are sharp and vivid. My wife immediately noticed the different between this and the kit lens images. Yes it's heavy, yes it's massive, but if you can stand the added weight you'll find yourself with a near perfect one lens walkaround kit.
