Love this camera. Small and light weight, great for hiking, weather resistance, it's has gotten wet on the trail with zero issues. Kit lens that it comes with is a nice starter for learning the camera's functions. I like the time lapse function mode and the rapid-fire panoramic mode. Accessories that it comes with is a welcome bonus, Thanks Adorama. I bought my first 35mm Pentax bodies and other camera gear from you all back in 1981! Thanks for sticking around.

The Panasonic DMC- The Panasonic DMC-G85 is an excellent camera. Small in size, not heavy and weather protected. The image stabilizer is a plus. It is very silent when shooting. Still learning all the possibilities. The few pictures taken are very sharp.

I'm just starting in the world of photography and this kit gives me all the tools I need to do all types of photography. I've been doing nature and urban photography with it mainly. I have to say though that the low-light performance is not excellent.

Great Camera for Video. I have two and love them. I purchased this one to mount on a Gimbal. Great 4k, Light Weight, rugged body, intuitive navigation. Can't beat it for that price.

I've been very pleased with the Panasonic G85. It takes great photos and is packed with features. There are ample controls and buttons for most the features, and with some practice, the menu is fairly easy to navigate. The manual that comes with the camera doesn't fully explain the features, but you can download a full manual with all the details.

I've had the Lumix G85 kit for over two years now. Never a problem. I love the 4k video. Perfect for my YouTube channel. The photos are good enough for snapshots. An upgrade would be the Lumix G9 ... or whatever comes next.

I’m just a newbie, but I have already taken a few high quality photos and can’t wait to dig into the video side of this. It does have a little bit of a learning curve but it seems pretty straight forward.

This camera severely underperforms. It has well-known autofocus issues that you can google and see. I wish I had known this before buying No one has been able to figure out the focus issues. We record video in our kitchen and while just standing in the center of the screen and talking to the camera it will randomly start to focus on the cabinets behind us. We sent the camera for service and the same issue continues. Do a quick search and you will see that many, many people have the same issue. I highly discourage anyone from buying this camera or the GH5 which has the same issue.

AWESOME! Yes I know that it does not do internal 4:2:2 4K. Who cares? It is basically a mini-version of the GH4. BUT! It is better in subdued light. Is lighter in weight. Has that famous Cine-D setting we all use. Full OIS and 4:2:2 8-bit output suits me fine. For day-to-day grunt work it is a marvel. Want full cine - buy an Arri!

I love this camera! It has a really nice weight to it, and feels sturdy and not cheap. I bought it mainly for a trip to Iceland, and the fact that it is weather-sealed was huge! It got rained and snowed on, but dried out and worked perfectly the whole time. I was impressed with the kit lens, and that lens ended up being the one I used most frequently on the trip. The 4K video was another big reason why I bought this particular camera, and it did not disappoint! The video quality is OUTSTANDING! I was able to take some really great photos of the northern lights with a lens I purchased that would do F1.4. I set it at F2, and the pictures are amazing. If I have any gripe, and this is a totally minor one in my eyes, it is slightly larger than I'd like it to be against many other mirrorless cameras. It really doesn't bother me, but if this camera were to be absolutely 6 star perfect, it would be a tiny bit smaller. Overall, easily a 5 star camera, and I would highly recommend it!

G85 is a nice little camera! Though I have not had it long, the images are surprisingly good! It’s small and light compared to my Nikon D850. There’s never a second thought about bringing it anywhere. The kit lens are very usable, and the whole experience is very positive.

Great camera so far. The image quality has been very good, and the video quality is maybe even better. It can be a little slow to autofocus, especially in darker scenes.

I love this camera. So many great features that usually come with a much heftier price tag. The autofocus is the only weakness on the camera so if you rely on that do some research on it. Shoots beautiful video and the stabilization is amazing.

Love it so far! As my first "real" camera upgrade, it has been quite intuitive & easy to use! And any time I do struggle with figuring something out, there has been TONS of content online or on YouTube that straightens it right out. LOVING the m4/3 size and portability myself (rather small hands), but I can see why some larger handed folks would want the battery extender or a grip of some sort. Other than that, no complaints! Great quality images, great features, and quite impressive video for what you pay! All and all, another win for Panasonic! I look forward to using this thing til the day it dies, even after acquiring more/better cameras!

I'm still very new to photography so I can't say too much on the technical side of things... but this camera is fantastic. The quality of the kit lens is much better than anything I would have needed to start out with, and the small form factor has made it more likely that I'd have the camera out with me. I have already been rained on while using this camera so I can verify that the weather proofing is both sound and useful. The battery life has been more than enough for the short trips around where I live, leaving me with plenty of juice left for another day of walking around. I haven't shot any video off of it yet, but I've heard nothing but good things regarding the quality of it. As for the accessories, they have been useful when I've needed them. The cleaning kit has been the best one by far, but the SD card was also really nice to have thrown in. Overall, I'd highly recommend this camera to anyone who has done their research and knows what this product can do. M43 cameras obviously have some small drawbacks, so I can't say I'd recommend it to everyone.

The Lumix G85 is an amazing camera. It is lightweight, weather sealed, and is loaded with features. But the most important things, in my opinion, is the quality of the images and videos. I am a photography hobbyist trying to improve my skills. The quality of my pictures have already improved immensely since buying this camera, and it's all because of the camera. The image stabilization in this camera is the best I have worked with. I have even taken nature photographs from a moving boat with amazing results. And for the price, it should be at the top of anyone's list who is looking for a feature-rich, MFT camera. This week I discovered the Aboge features built into the camera. For instance, the single shot effect allowed me to take a picture with the flower in color and the rest of the image in monochrome. Usually, that is done with post-production software. But the G85 has this effect and many others built right in. I could go on and on, but the point is that if you are in the market for a good, lightweight, MFT camera, you should seriously consider the Lumix G85.

It's a nice camera. but I can't connect directly to my PC via wireless or cable for live view like I can with my Cannon T2i 550D.. It's designed to connect to iPad or tablet, but no luck so far linking to PC. I hope Panasonic has a firmware update that allows for easy access to this capability in the near future.

Perfect for the Advanced Amateur or Semi-Pro into M43
By STEVEN F.
This review is for the benefit of those settled upon the M43 format and aware of its benefits and deficiencies. This is also for the advanced amateur or semi-pro shooter, either still photographer or filmmaker. Also, much of this will be comparing the G85 to the GX85. In short: I wish that the G85 had been available when I'd opted for buying the GX85 three months before the former was released. Although the GX85's ultra-compact size and the flip-up/down screen had enabled me to do some parti...

I love my G85
By Jeff
I participated in an Advocate Program on behalf of Panasonic USA. I received product samples as part of my participation. All opinions are my own. I first received my G85 a few months ago and I was really excited to get it out of the box to try it out. I was already shooting with the G7 so I didn't really think there would be much difference between the two cameras. I was wrong... The G85 is a significant jump forward from the G7 not only with image quality but with the camera build as well...

The Panasonic LUMIX G85 offers over 27 LUMIX compact lens options built on the next-generation interchangeable lens camera standard (Micro Four Thirds) pioneered by Panasonic. Its “mirrorless” design enables a lighter, more compact camera body that includes cutting-edge video, audio, creative controls, wireless, intelligent-focusing, gyro sensor control in body image stabilization and exposure technologies not possible with traditional DSLRs.
When life's adventures take you places, you need a camera that keeps up. Photographer Mitchell Kanashkevich took the LUMIX G85 on a journey to Romania. Perfect for outdoor shooting, the Dual Image Stabilizer helped him take crisper, clearer images in difficult and fast-moving environments, while the compact, weather-sealed body and kit lens improved flexibility wherever he went.
With the LUMIX G85, a new gyro sensor increases the image stability compensation power of the 5-Axis Body image stabilization to correct hand-shake for all lenses, including classic lenses not equipped with optical image stabilization.
The LUMIX G85 integrates 5-Axis Dual I.S.2 (Image Stabilizer), combining 5-axis body and 2-axis lens stabilization for more effective handshake correction and compensation for shots up to 5 f-stops. The 5-axis stabilization works in both wide and telephoto photography and motion picture recording, including 4K Video.
LUMIX-pioneered 4K PHOTO lets you capture the perfect moment by selecting single frames from a 4K video sequence shot at a blistering 30fps to save as individual high-res images.
Prolong battery life to approximately 800–900* images with a power-saving eye sensor that detects when your eye moves away from the viewfinder and automatically enter Sleep mode.
Shoot longer with two batteries — one in the camera, the other in the optional battery grip. The grip also makes handling the camera more comfortable.
Enjoy the creative freedom of being able to decide what you want in focus, even after you shoot. Exclusive POST FOCUS mode gives you the power to review an image and touch the area you'd like to be pinpoint sharp. What's more, a new Focus Stacking feature lets you easily select several focus points in the same image.
The LUMIX G85 includes a new electromagnetic drive in the shutter unit. The shock caused by movement of the shutter diaphragm is dramatically reduced and the shutter sound is significantly minimized. Together with the use of a new solid magnesium front panel, shutter shock is reduced by approximately 90% compared with the LUMIX G7.
Thanks to the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology that instantly calculates distance to subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels, ultra-high-speed AF and 6-fps burst shooting with AFC, and 9-fps burst shooting with AFS is possible.
The Live View Finder with 0.74X (35mm equiv.) magnification ratio gives you the freedom to frame your shot and capture everything you see. Plus, 2360K-dot high resolution and approximately 100% color reproduction provides high visibility under any circumstances.
The 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor with no low pass filter helps capture sharper images with more detail.
Shoot true-to-life images with excellent resolution, high contrast and impressive color reproduction. Removing the Low Pass Filter improves quality by approximately 10% while the Venus Engine designed for the LUMIX G85 detects high-frequency components to suppress the generation of moiré. Combining the Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine renders clear images with minimum noise even in low-light situations and a maximum sensitivity of ISO25600.
With highest quality 4K Video, the LUMIX G85 lets you record every journey's twists and turns in up to 4X the resolution of Full HD. More detail and more clarity means more memories to look back on, all in perfect quality
