I had a ball head. Every time I would lock it in place it would move slightly. The Manfrotto 410 gear head is fantastic. You just dial it in and get the composition you want. The only con is weight. But that?s because this is built like a tank.

Heavy, bulky but does the job. I prefer the Benro

Oh so nice to have the ability to fine tune camera positions when taking photos of 2-D art work. Maximum parallelism achieved!

Great tripod head. Had to get an adapter to mount it on my older Slik tripod but it works like a champ is is very solid. I use this for my old Zone VI 4 X 5 and my new Nikon Z6. Love the ability to make the slightest of movements and the spirit levels.

The Manfrotto 410 Junior Head works very well with Camera/telephoto lens and Spotting scopes.

I wish I were kidding, but I've had cheapo plastic tripods from wal-mart hold up longer than this, it only took an hour to fail. Maybe this unit was defective, but on it's first day of use the locking mechanism for the plate completely fails inside of the first hour. All the precision gearing in the world doesn't mean a thing if the plate is wobbling all over the place and can't be held securely. I wouldn't trust it with a polaroid let alone my Leica. I cannot in good conscience recommend something with such horrific quality control. Returning for a replacement, but I'll only be trying this once before a refund.

I bought this head for real estate photography. I often take multiple shots of the same scene and blend them in Photoshop. For this to work effectively, I MUST have a head with absolutely NO movement. When I first bought this head I thought it was great, but soon after I started using it (which is every day) I started noticing play in the head. The camera moves ever so slightly even when doing something as simple as switching the flash on/off. The result is that when I open the photos in Photoshop, they are not aligned requiring me to manually align them. The auto-align tool works well in many cases, but not always, so the play/movement in the head creates an issue that is often time-consuming to overcome. Even the slightest movement is unacceptable Another thing is that the knobs have become tight and sometimes difficult to turn, especially when making a big move. I contacted Manfrotto and they want me to send it in for repair - at my cost. This to me is a manufacturing defect and they should stand behind it.

This head is relatively heavy and, in my opinion, too stiff. Both the fine and gross adjustments will challenge those with weaker hands or who suffer from even mild arthritis. I returned this unit.

Could not be happier with this. I really like the course and fine adjustments you can make with this. It is precise! Leveling couldn't be easier, or any other angle. It seems pretty solid under my Wista 45SP which is ~2.5 kilos, I got it for my 4x5 and after using it for about 2 minutes, I want to get rid of the ball-head I use for my D810 and get another one of these! Highly recommend!

Knobs make super fine tuning easy and the wheels make larger movement very quickly

There are geared heads out there that weigh less and pack smaller, but you’d be hard-pressed to find better quality in such a compact size. I travel everywhere with this head and its build quality makes it my most reliable tool in the field. Its knobs are the perfect size and shape for accurate adjustments. It is on the slightly heavy side, but I still think it’s worth its weight.

This is a must have for real estate and vacation property Photography! Easy to use and it gives you straight vertical lines even with wide angle lens if used properly. Great investment.

Outstanding build quality, ease of use, quick release, rock solid. Moderate weight and excellent support for short to medium telephoto lenses. Highly recommended.

A bit stiff. but it has to be to be handle heavy unbalanced equipment. Quick release mechanisms allow fairly accurate positioning and knobs allow precision centering of object to be photographed or for video in all three dimensions, pitch, roll ,and yaw. After years if experience I only use Manfrotto tripods.

I have always used ball heads for my landscape work and they do the job but for exacting work like pano shots and accurate leveling, a geared head is the best. I would like to see this gear head made with an option for the RC2 quick release plates as it is overkill for full frame cameras.

I replaced a Manfrotto 324RC2 with this head. I primarily do landscapes so getting my horizon level is really important to me. This head has given me that fine-tuning ability that was hard with the Grip Ball Head of the 324. My only gripes are these: 1. Weight - This thing is really heavy. 2. Mounting Plate is huge as well. 3. Mounting plate screw is a flat-head screw. The other mounting plate had a flip-up ring that I could use to loosen it without tools. It was also handy because I could clip a hand strap to it if I wanted to go handheld without removing the plate. Other than that I love it.

For the price this is the best tripod head for still life/interiors. Solid build and stays where you put it.

A must-have for architectural photography. I used the Manfrotto 3-way pan/tilt head for years it was a great tool but heavy and cumbersome to carry/transport. Then a friend suggested Manfrotto's magnetic Ballhead which was much lighter and just easy and simple but the bobbly jumpy head takes far too much time in setting up shots for level accuracy no matter what subject matter it is, but especially architecture. I was spending far too much time in LR using auto correction. And then...third times a charm the 410. MAGNIFICENT. 1. Huge time saver. Shaved 30 minutes off my normal session time. Once you set the head level and lock it at the bubble mark, you will breeze through setting up each shot. Some reviewers have stated it takes longer to set up shots on this gearhead vs a ballhead, I disagree 110%. This gear head allows you to work much-much-much faster. 2. Saved tons of time in post production because everything was already level and accurate, and the precision of small adjustments is incredibly easy to get spot on. 3. Quick release plate is trustworthy and the head is rock solid and the texture of the knobs make it easy and comfortable to handle 4. Much lighter than I expected based on other reviews Pay the price it's worth it, you'll turn jobs faster so in turn have room for more jobs. I wish I had known about this gearhead years ago. Bravo Manfrotto.

Its great for still-life, close ups, any shooting needed precise control of picture framing. Has both rough & fine adjustment on each control knobs for quick & fine movements. Only feel the knobs sometimes seam too close to each other. Need to get use to it.

I shoot a lot of real estate photography and this head provides the stability, motion and the leveling accuracy I need. The only thing I would like to see added is 1/4-20 female thread adaptor on the base for fitting onto smaller tripods.

I have always been a ballhead shooter until I purchased this gearhead. I mostly do landscapes and architectural photography. Having the gear head has made it significantly easier and faster to level out my camera. Plus I no longer have to worry that the ballhead will loosen and the camera will drop lens forward. So far I'm happy with all aspects of this product and would recommend it.

I use this geared head for architechtural and real estate photography. Very precise and easy to use. The wide plate holds the camera very stable. Well built and works great on top the Manfrotto tripod, even on days with winds gusting up to 15~20 mph. The geared head attaches to the tripod via center bolt, plus 3 smaller bolts on the perimter of the mounting plate to hold it very stable without any movement or slop on the tripod. Excellent product in my opinion and highly recommend it. Adorama also did a great job of shipping the items quickly and well packaged.

I find this just a bit frustrating at first to adjust as I am not used to the adjustment mechanism. However, making the fine adjustments to level the camera is immensely better and easier than a lesser 3 way head. It is very strong, well built and everything locks in place easily and securely.

I like this product alot! I have tried several "Ball Heads" and they are just NOT for me. Personal preference, I guess. This head is GREAT for portraiture, macro, and landscapes. The weight surprised me, I wouldn't take it on a long hiking trip... that needs a really lightweight hiking tripod... I guess. I LOVE the precision adjustments. This is really helpful for macro. The "quick" adjustments are very fast. All of the springs are strong, so if you have very weak hands or arthritis...

I have owned this head for about 10 years now and other than an accident where I overturned the tripod which broke the release lever, I have experienced no problems. At first the head was difficult to use, but once I became accustomed to the controls, it was smooth sailing. At first you may have to play around with how this head functions, but do not give up, this is a very good head.
