Fantastic lens. A portable wide angle zoom with superb image quality. Blows my old nikon 14-28 f2.8 out of the water.

I took this lens on a hike in the desert and I am blown away with how fast it focuses and the image rendering is superb. Distortion is way less then I expected for such a wide lens. I actually like it a lot more and use it a lot more than I expected. I am happy with my decision to give it a try. It's a keeper and perfect for landscape work and more.

As far as now my experience has been really good with this lens. I have my doubts mostly because I read some reviews with poor qualifications. My opinion is 180 degrees different. Sharp images, nice wide views, small weight. Good performance.

I have tried nearly all the wide angle zooms for the Nikon F and Z mounts. This is the best to date. It is wonderfully sharp and contrasty. Some might say too contrasty, but paired with the latest Nikon sensors, there is enough information in the shadow areas, even the edges that have been modified by de-vignetting algorithms, to bring information to bear. The lens is far more usable than the 14-24mm f2.8 being lighter and more responsive.

I can't believe that I waited so long to buy this lens. For landscape photography it's a must-have. So happy with getting that extra width over my 24-70mm f2.8. Absolutely love this lens.

I've never owned a lens this wide before and I find it has a bit of a learning curve in terms of focus area and keeping the camera level. I am still experimenting with the focus area settings and find the image quality to be excellent.

Although I haven't had much chance to really get out and dig deep into this lens, I do like it a lot. Small, light, easy to carry, wonderfully sharp. 82mm filters are a joy compared to the old 14-24mm f/2.8 F mount, which needed a 3rd party adapter to use filters. My only gritch (and it's a small one) is the need to rotate the zoom ring before taking photos. It's the only lens I own that requires that. Even my 24-120mm f/4S doesn't. I suppose there's a reason, but I can't imagine what that reason is. Even so, it's not such a big deal as to stand in the way of a great little lens.

I'm so impressed with the wide angle abilities of this lens, sharp, clear, fast, quite. It has so many possibilities at f/4 without the need for a flash when combined with my Z6ii. Can't wait to get some fall waterfall photos but the photos I'm sharing were the very first outing with it.

It's lightweight and is a good lens to have on the camera when "Walking around". It creates very good "Sun bursts" (Those rays emanating from the sun when when the sun is peeking from behind a tree or rock). I do have a bit of trouble locking/unlocking the lens hood but that might be my fault. Overall I am glad I bought this lens.

The NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens is an outstanding ultra-wide option for the Nikon Z System! Center sharpness is excellent throughout the aperture range, up to about f/13, after which diffraction has a small effect, as with most lenses. The 14mm coverage is vastly wider than the standard 24mm, and as such, this is a fantastic lens for tight spaces or expansive landscape scenes. Build quality is up to the "S" standard, and the beauty of this over the much more pricey Nikkor Z `4-28 f/2.8 S is that you can use 82mm screw-in filters! Highly recommended!

I got the NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S for landscape photography, and I can say that it is super-sharp in the center, with only slight sharpness fall-off and some vignetting in extreme edges of the image. The overall image quality is superb, and the handling is good as well, despite the need to rotate the zoom ring to enable usage, ala the Nikkor 24-70 f/4 zoom. The 82mm filter thread makes it easy to ues filters like the excellent Hoya NXT Plus Circular Polarizer, and the Hoya UV filter for lens protection, which I recommend. Please see attached image taken using the Polarizing filter, showing a very high level of sharpness and image detail. I highly recommend this NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S and the Hoya filter kit!

Shot a live job at a wedding this weekend with a Z6II. I'm 100% pleased with the performance. I used flas with 25%, but 75% without and I'm really pleased at the outcome. Very little post processing. I shot everything in manual mode. In very tight rooms, it is my now go to lens. Very little lens flare and very little distortion if you carefully frame your subjects.

This is my most used lens and primary use is for real estate. I always shoot at f8 for depth of field so the 2.8 lens was not really important in this case also it goes to 30mm which means I almost never have to swap the lens when on sight. also for video this lens is way better than its 2.8 big brother due to the fact it is smaller and lighter and that is always better when using a gimbal.

You would think that the Slinger lens case included in the essentials kit would fit the lens. Unfortunately, the provided lens case doesn't fit the lens purchased.

This lens replaced my Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8. I never shoot a wide lens wide open so the loss of one stop is not an issue for me. The lens is smaller and lighter than my old F mount lens. Plus the ability to zoom to 30mm makes it more useful as well. Takes screw in filters and the optical quality is very good. A bit of distortion as with any lens this wide but correctable in software.

Fantastic wide angle lens. I'm usually doing landscape so f/2.8 is rare for me (so is f/4). I usually use this lens at f/5.6 and f/8 and it's really the sweet spot for great image quality for the lens. If I had one gripe it would be the fact that it needs to extend to work. But it's a minor complaint and the size and weight benefits with that design are more important to me anyway.

This is my primary lens for backpacking, its weight is unbeatable and the IQ is fantastic for such a small package. I carry it on my Z7 on a capture clip and it's very comfortable.

My first NISI purchase. I bought this CPL for my 14-30 f/4 and 28-70 f/2.8 Z mounts. No vignetting. Great color rendition. Fits secure into the lens filter threads. I highly recommend this product. You can be sure that I'll be purchasing additional NISI filters from Adorama in the near future.

Love this lens, it is the only one I currently use for underwater photography. Great lens for the price point. Underwater or shooting landscapes it a solid investment.

While I haven't done a direct comparison with my older 14-24mm lens, I believe this new lens performs better across the entire frame, especially at wide-opened and my 14-24mm is no slouch in terms of performance as it can easily meet or surpass my fixed focal length lenses in this range! I do a fair amount of architectural and LARGE group photography and the 14-24mm has served me admirably BUT, not being able to fit filters on this lens was a decided disadvantage and I have to use a third-par...

An ultra-wide zoom, which accepts screw-in filters.
By NikonHobbyist
Since I already have the 14-24/f2.8 f-mount lens, which I have used frequently on my Z6 (and D850), I was reluctant to purchase the 14-30 z-mount lens. However, I will be traveling internationally this summer, and plan to only bring my Z6 with two lenses, the 14-30/f4, and (hopefully!!!) the 24-200/f4-6.3 if it ships in time, otherwise I will bring my f-mount 24-120/f4 as my 2nd lens. With that said, I was immediately tempted to purchase a ND6 filter for the 14-30/f4 lens, since I often shoo...

Characterized by its impressive wide-angle range, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S is an ultra-wide angle zoom lens that is designed for Nikon FX-format Z-series mirrorless cameras. Its an ideal tool for capturing breathtaking landscapes, architecture, astrophotography, and other photographic scenes and subjects that require broad fields of view. The constant maximum aperture of f/4 helps maintain a consistent exposure at every focal length. Four extra-low dispersion (ED) and four aspherical lens elements help reduce aberrations and distortions to produce sharper, clearer, and more accurate image details. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings on the lens also suppress flare and ghosting, resulting in higher contrast images with greater color fidelity. Complementing the optics are its fast, precise, and quiet autofocus stepping motor, along with full-time manual focus override that can be enabled during photo and video capture. And like any other NIKKOR Z-series lens, the 14-30mm f/4 S has a built-in programmable control ring that offers intuitive control over a variety of camera and exposure settings. The lens can also be stored in a more compact form, thanks to its retractable barrel design.
The lens, created with landscape, travel, event, and architecture photographers and videographers in mind, includes a new optical design in a lightweight package — to compare, it’s about 28.6 percent lighter and 32 percent shorter shorter than the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, the company notes. The ultra-wide zoom lens is a first for the new Z Mount system, and was designed to be used in sync with the 45.7-megapixel Nikon Z7...READ MORE
The ultra-wide zoom. A travel and landscape photographers' go-to lens for establishing a sense of place and pushing perspective. Capable of scenic photography that's consistently sharp throughout the entire frame. Video so clean and smooth it rivals real life and elevates the look and feel of camera movement. And for the first time in a full-frame ultra-wide lens, the creative and practical flexibility of attachable filters. The possibilities are as wide-reaching as the 14-30mm field of view. This is a lens that embodies the spirit of Z.
A next-generation ultra-wide angle zoom
A compact 14 to 30mm zoom range with a fixed f/4 aperture and outstanding image quality. Experience edge-to-edge sharpness even when shooting wide open. Shoot stills or video in near-silence. This is an essential lens for travel, adventure, events, video and everything in between.
Superior optical performance
Impressive aberration correction—virtually zero flare, ghosting, coma or chromatic, spherical and axial aberration, even at the far edges of the frame. Plus dirt, dust and water-repelling safeguards.
The NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S’s front lens element is nearly flat, making it the first filter-attachable 14mm full frame NIKKOR lens. This advancement in optical design makes it possible to add an 82mm circular polarizer to dramatically reduce reflections for the purpose of enhancing colors and increasing contrast. Add a neutral-density filter to reduce light intensity and decrease shutter speed—perfect for emphasizing motion blur or for video applications where large apertures need to be used in daylight.
