Dreamiest sharp impressive lens.

Everything I dreamed it would be! SO sharp, but also soft and dreamy. The sharpness is impressive and the isolation is so pretty. I LOVE it and it's re-defining my whole style.

Best portrait lens

I love this lens. its a bit heavier but, the quality of photos this produces is fantastic. I almost always shoot this between f 1.2 and 1.6. Primarily use this for portraits and guest photos at events. The bokeh this produces is outstanding. This is my go to lens for event coverage..

My new favorite lens of all time

Was between this and the 50mm 1.2 for mostly cars and pet/people portraits. Very happy I chose the 85mm. The RF 70-200 was previously my favorite lens and I never imagined this would blow it out of the water. Everything looks incredible through this glass. People, cars, animals, you name it. Insanely sharp even wide open at f1.2. Dreamy bokeh, amazing colors, and fantastic clarity. The best lens I have ever owned in 15 years, hands down.

Amazing

This lens makes you a better photographer. That?s all I really need to say. If you?re reading this, you already know that it?s a big, heavy-ish lens. I like the feel of this lens. It looks, feels and performs like the incredibly high quality product you should expect for such a high price. It is expensive, but worth every penny. The subject-isolating, dreamy bokeh is reason enough. If you want the best prime lens for portraiture, product shots, and so many more functions, this is the one.

A superior lens for your RF collection

The RF 85mm lens is the perfect portrait lens. It auto focuses Immediately and has superior sharpness. Its low light f1.2 allows shooting in very low light while maintaining photo quality. These features make it my choice for shooting gigs and other musical events. The 85mm allows me to be far enough away from the subject to not be a distraction. Definitely worth the price to get a Canon superior addition to my RF tool kit.

Worth the investment!

This is the lens I?ve been needing for a while to step up my photos that extra notch! Quick AF, amazing quality and oooh the bokeh, it?s perfect. Coming from the old 85 1.8 ef (used with the adapter) this is a game changer. Worth the investment.

Canon 85mm f1.2 More than portraits

Having done quite a bit of research I bought this lens with preconceived notions.Afte ra month and a thousand photos I am beginning to see what this lens truly is. As advertised it is an awesome portrait lens. The bokeh is fantastic and does separate the subject from the background. Best taking head or head and shoulder shots but great for so much more. At f1.2 it is a single person or with proper positioning a group lens. But, DOF is shallow (how much depends on distance of course). It is also great for photographing single objects. You need to take care at f1.2 to be sure to position the subject item so as not to have a confusing element included in the frame. So at f1.2 single person or single object. But don?t get stuck shooting at f1.2 always. That speed is what makes this sense special but it only gets sharper, if possible, as you shoot at other apertures. I have shot cars. Live music and video. The video at f5.6 hand held at 60 fps and 1/125 shutter. On my R5 in 4k fine, awesome

$$$$$

All I smell when I take this lens out is money. Before and during the purchase all I thought about was the cost. But now that I own it, all I think about is how much money this beauty is bringing in. Before switching to mirrorless I was more partial to the EF 50mm f1.2 and EF 135mm f2. Now I have found my favorite RF lens. Yes, I know the bokeh is beautiful. But that attribute is really second to the beautiful rendering, sharpness and accurate focus on my R5. Some people whine about the slow focusing. But in reality, it is not that slow. Compared to the EF 85mm f1.2L II it is like a hare passing the turtle. Sure it's not the best stop action sports lens but more useful that it's older counterpart. Oh yeah, that older counterpart was also not sharp, had bad CA and corner fall off. My copy has already paid for itself and has put enough in the coffers to purchase the RF 35mm f1.2 when it arrives. A fir the weight. It is offset to my by the light weight of the R5 compared to the 1DX II i parted with when I switched.

A worthy update to the EF 85L

Super sharp at f1.2. Paired with the R and R6, AF is fast. At least when compared to my old EF 85L II on an adapter. Pricey but worth the cost if you know what you wanna do with this lens.

It's Magical ***

For the Zillion dollars it cost, it should be magical. Guess What? IT IS. The focus along with the shallow depth of field makes you a 9th degree photographer. I am blown away. Not to get too dramatic but I think it is the smooth drop off from the target toward the out of focus area. Yea, I know---bokeh, but it's more than that. Big $$$ and Big results!!

Best lens ever

This is the most beautiful lens I have ever owned. Tack sharp, and I can shoot into the sun without getting sun flares. Yes it?s crazy expensive but it?s SO worth it. It?s also pretty heavy but I shoot with a dual harness so it?s not bad at all.

Where did the first 32 reviews come from, Adorama?

I've purchased a whole lot of gear from Adorama. Probably near ($) worth. I just want to know where 32 reviews for an unreleased lens in pre-order status came from? Some of the reviews are obviously not even about this lens! Shame on you, Adorama.
