Heavy and rock solid, perfect for my studio. If you travel to locations, beware it is heavy but that's what makes it so sturdy. I like that it comes with the original grip arm for the stand as well as the boom arm. If I just want to hold a flag or background, I can quickly swap out the boom for the grip.

Good quality c stand! It feels sturdier than some of the cheaper ones I own and came with a bonus baby pin.

I bought this on sale for roughly $100. I expected to get a medium-weight C stand that would be just enough to handle a small strobe and four-foot softbox on the boom. What I got was one of the sturdiest C stands I've ever seen. I think it will last me the rest of my life, and it's more than a match for any demands I will put on it. Thank you, Adorama!

I just got it today, it took me five minutes to put together and use it. It is heavier than I expected, it's solid. I find it easy to use. It didn't have any instructions but I've used them before. I extended the gobo arm out with a beauty dish, which is about 7lbs, with a light and battery, another 5 pounds. It held it up with ease. I'm reayy happy with this purchase. Now I can finally not worry about not having a good C stand.

This is my second time ordering this stand. I love the spring loaded aspect to it. Holds a lot of weight. Will get this again if I am in need of another stand.

Are they perfect? No. Will Cstand snobs look down upon you? Yes. Do they hold your light just as well as any other option and last just as long? Yes. They are great option for the price. If they changed the bottom swing out design it would be an easy 5star. But I'm sure they would cost more then. Its a plus that you can remove the legs post easier pack down if you ever need to fly / travel with them. A feature usually reserved for the ritzy snobby cstands.

I bought this for a friend setting up a studio on a budget. Seem like a reasonable experiment. When they arrived and we pulled them out, I was really pleased about the build quality and attention to detail. They feel a little heavier but if they live in the studio, it's not a problem.

Such a great value. This stand is very well made. Don't let the low price tag scare you. It's heavy duty.

Even with the lower price, these feel solid. They have good weight and I feel confident with these on set for scrims and lights.

All else being OK I have one issue. The grip arm accepts only the gobo heads supplied. I have other gobo heads that are too small to accept. I would reconsider next time buying this brand turtle base kit.

This stand lasted me maybe 3 photoshoots before the first piece broke. After that I couldn't do much of anything with it as it would just turn in any breeze.

Sturdy and Stable

I love my Flashpoint C-Stand! I had purchased an Xplor 600 Monolight and I was leary about mounting it on my lightstand. When I put my Xplor 600 on my C-stand I could tell that it was sturdy because my light didn't move at all. My C-stand opens up more possiblities and postitions due to the grip arm. I highly recommend it.
Great value!

Great value purchase! Very sturdy stand. Very confident it can easily hold a Flashpoint Xplor 600!
The Flashpoint 10' Century C Stand Kit is a worthy carrier of the time honored C Stand tradition of secure and powerful light and modifier supports for cinema and still studios. The C Stand kit features a 10', two tier spring loaded riser column with a baby pin on top, removable turtle self locking base legs, 2 aluminum 3.0" grip heads and a 40" extension boom arm.
The stand base features a specially designed sure locking mechanism that is unique to the C Stand series. Each leg firmly sets to a preset lock position for easy swing setup and then flat for compact storage and transport. Individual legs can be swung to any angle, breaking out of fixed leg stance of classic stands.
The 'ç' provides an exceptionally low center of gravity, balancing off axis gear without tipping the assembly, especially when secured with saddlebag style sandbags. The unique staggered curved leg design allows C Stands to be nested allowing for several to be used in close proximity. The lower leg can also be slid under many objects.
The kit's extension gobo rod arm precisely slips into the aluminum 3.0" grip heads, supporting light modifiers, arms, scrims, cantilever flags, gobos or smaller lights, into exact position. The 5/8" diameter arm and Grip/Gobo/KnuckleHead combination can be used as a short boom, is tremendously helpful on still life sets, supporting everything from reflectors to soup spoons in clamps. The cast aluminum head design has interlocking facing surfaces to keep a fixed position when supporting accessories on the steel arm in one of its four 3/4", 5/8", 3/8", and 1/8" diameter channels. The jaws open to a maximum of 1-1/8" to hold rods, dowels and studs. The channel disks pivot about the center tightening handle and is grooved to friction hold firmly. When used atop light stands, it attaches via a 5/8" baby pin receiver hole with a choice of two places on the length for the tightening grip handle, taking best advantage of shorter studs on standard light stands or longer baby pin ends on Century Stands.
The name 'Century Stand' goes back to the days of motion picture production. There were no artificial light sources. No large tungsten lamps and certainly not quartz bulbs to illuminate. Just light from the sun. The film sets would revolve on platforms to assure a constant light from the sun above. Carefully positioned giant reflectors would be strategically placed to deflect the sunlight up onto the stages and thereby illuminate the scene and actors. While the reflectors were made in many sizes and shapes, the most popular was the 100 inch, or 'century', sized reflector. Stage assistant then created tools to aid them in the support of these 100" reflectors and invented what we now call C Stands. The first C Stands could not adjust or swivel, but they easily nested together just as they do today. Time tested and proven as an invaluable stage property, today's Century Stands, or C Stands, are an essential element in the image maker's inventory of tools.
