This lens is every bit as amazingly sharp as people have claimed. Its optics are phenomenal, even at f1.4, and the bokeh brought on by such a shallow depth of field is gorgeous. The only real issue with the Sigma 85mm f1.4 Art, is that because of Panasonic's contrast only autofocus, the lens focuses way too slowly to work in CAF (Continuous Auto Focus). If you don't need continuous autofocus, however, then you will find it to be accurate, if a little slow. If you're a portrait photographer, landscape photographer, wedding photographer, etc., I'd have no trouble recommending this lens. If you're a sports photographer, however, I don't think this is the lens for you.

Although a little heavier that most lenses I’ve used with my Sony A7RII, the quality, sharpness and bokeh make up for any extra weight. Focus is as fast as my old 1.4 Sony 85mm, and it’s sharper! Creamy bokeh and no vignetting. My go to lens for all my work now!

Amazing quality image and sharpness. Out of focus area is as smooth as it gets. This lens has an amazing 3D pop. Not great for walking around with though, it’s really big and heavy.

I think I have shot every 85mm f1.4/1.2 on the market, whether Nikon, Canon or Sony. This lens sets a new standard in terms of sharpness across the field wide-open. I can place eyes near the edges of the frame and they are rendered razor sharp. The lens is too big for travel, however, (for me), so I use the Sony GM85 when size and weight becomes a factor.

Best Full frame Sony portrait lens for the money, hands down!

Designed and engineered for unparalleled image quality, the Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art employs a completely new optical design and premium components. 2 FLD (performance equal to fluorite) glass elements and 1 element boasting a high rate of anomalous partial dispersion and high refraction achieve a class leading level of performance. The highly anticipated 85mm 1.4 Art is an ideal lens for a variety of photographic subjects, particularly portrait photography, both in-studio and on-location. The newly updated Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) allows for 1.3X the torque of previous generations for fast and efficient autofocus. Through rigorous testing, the Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art ushers in a new era of quality and performance for this popular fast prime focal length. A 9 blade rounded diaphragm creates beautiful background bokeh to isolate and accentuate the subject. Full Time manual focus can be engaged by rotating the focusing ring, even when shooting continuous autofocus
