Bargain price, elite results, great value and performance travel lens!

I someone who has owned and used Sony, Canon and Nikon cameras and similar type lenses, I'd give Z 24-200mm a no hesitation 5 stars! It is the sharpest, smallest and lightest amongst the three I own. R 24-240mm is very good too, but Sony 24-200mm is the weakest performer here by a mile! I've photographed Sutro tower at 27mm and 200mm on Z8 hand held after sunset at f/7.1 1/25 and f/8 1/20 sec exposures and the sharpness is astounding. you can see 100% pixel crops of each shot to see the level of detail on 45MP sensor! I have not noticed any other optical issues either. very well corrected lens. It does extend quite a bit!

excellent multi-purpose lens

I previously purchased 400 mm (for birds) and 20 mm (for auroras) Nikkor lenses. This lens proved to be excellent for bridging the wide range between the other lenses. Used it extensively on a long road trip and love the results.

The good reviews got it right

I used to own the old 18-200mm dx lens which was never a superb lens in terms of IQ or sharpness, but it had a usable range when on vacation. The 24-200 z lens was purchased somewhat reluctantly by me because of my prior experience with the old super zoom. Yes, I had read or watched various reviews online, but I took those with a grain of salt. After getting the z lens, I can report that it is the all purpose lens that I wish the old Nikon 18-200mm had been. My copy as been very good and one photo tool that I will enjoy using when traveling. The good reviews got it right.

Perfectly pleased with this lens.

I love this lens and have it attached to my Zf that I got recently. I was looking for an all-purpose, general use lens to keep with me when I travel light, or don't want to change lenses. The lens is very sharp. Maybe not as much as some higher-end lenses, but it's certainly more than perfect for everyday shooting when I don't need one of my pro level Nikkor Z lens models. And I have 14 Z lenses, and about a dozen other older F lenses in my bags and cabinets. My Zf and 24-200 are becoming my favorite everyday use camera. I'm doing less and less pro work these days since I'm 72, and when I'm shooting for fun, it's going to be used when client-demanded perfection isn't needed; but in many instances, I'm sure this lens would also fill the order.

One lens with wide range

It is great to have one lens with such a wide range of focal lengths and stop. Also, not sure if this is lens or Nikon lens in general, it has amazing color and clarity.

Best Superzoom I Have Used

Superzooms are a compromise, you trade the loss of wide open aperture for more focal length coverage. Often, superzooms have some focal lengths that are weak performers. This lens is an exception to that rule, there is not a focal length that does produce sharp, usable images. This lens pairs well with the Nikon Zf, which is the camera I have. It produces typical Nikon colors. It has some modest close up/macro abilities. If you could only have one lens on your camera, you could do a lot worse than this lens, I included a few images that demonstrate what I have said.

It's great

Love it. Compact and easy to handle. At first I was concerned about the speed but with the great Z sensors ISO 6400 is the new 400. Does 99% of what my 28-300 does.

Two thumbs up!

This lens is amazing on my Z50 camera! The picture quality is outstanding and it's not too heavy, so it balances nicely on the camera. I like that it's equivalent to a 300mm lens on the Z50, which works great for wildlife and landscape photography. I am very happy with my purchase!"

Very versatile addition

Works great on my recently purchased Z62. Better low light performance than I expected and very sharp. Also works well with Meike extension tubes for some close-up photography. So far I am very pleased with its versatility .

It Really Is a Superzoom!

After selling the first copy, I realized that was a mistake . The resolution , range, weight, size , and convenience, far outweigh any minor flaws. In my opinion, it should wear the S symbol too. It now sits glued to my new ZF!

Fantastic Lens. Great companion for travel and street photography. Will Save me a ton of money if I can get adaptor to make it 400MM. I do have 18 to 300 mm Travel lens for my DSLR camera. I am happy and I can recommend the Nikor Z 24-200 MM. It is a very versatile lens.

Perfect all in one lens

Great all in one lens. I use it for personal travel and also as a backup for work. I will use it at work if outside and the environment is unfriendly for lens changing.

Very sweet fun lens for all occasions.

While it is a relatively modest lens in size and construction, it is optically excellent in its entire range. Definitely a great choice for travel, for telling a story or for most everyday use. Wide landscape, portrait, tele and even macro capability means you won't miss a shot fumbling to change lenses. It is a bit slow. So, if you do a lot of cropping in post you will see more noise at times.

Excellent companion for my Z9

I wanted a walk-around Z lens for my Z9, having only my DSLR lenses and the FTZ adapter. This is an amazing lens, I love it and have had amazing results. These 2 photos were shot with aperture priority, 1/200, ISO 1400 (for the first) and ISO 1250 for the second, both at 200mm. The photos tell the story - super lens!

The Reason I Switched To Nikon.

I'm a recent Nikon convert coming from Leica, and I made the switch because of lenses like the 24-200 f/4-6.3. I needed a one lens solution for travel and landscapes that was light, and had great image quality. This was it, and in use over this past weekend, it did not disappoint. It lives on my Z8. I also have the 14-30 f/4, and many of the AI-S lenses and the FTZ 2 adapter. It is not in the same league as my former Summicrons and Summiluxes, but for most photographers, most of the time, this will create top notch images. And the autofocus nails most shots.

Outstanding, versatile

It's a fantastic "walking around" lens for the Z system. Useful zoom range; sharp, reasonably fast, especially since the new mirrorless bodies like my Z8 have such incredible high ISO performance. When I'm traveling or hiking and I don't want to bring huge glass, this lens is my go-to.

24-200mm lens

It replaced my AF-S 28-300mm lens for my Nikon Z7. It is sharp. Also works great on my Nikon Z-50 as 35-300mm lens

Take a look at the 24-200.

The Nikon 24-200 is perfect for my daily needs. The Nikon Z 5 is my first mirrorless camera. I walk and hike often, and I needed something lightweight. I am pleased with the image results I get. This would also be a great travel lens. I plan on getting additional lenses, but the 24-200 will remain my "daily driver".

For a hiking and traveling this lens is a great choice, probably the best choice right now

As a professional photographer, I own a lot of F2.8 lenses, but they're not practical for carrying on my back while hiking the mountains, and for landscape photography I don't need constant F2.8 or F4 since I'm almost always trying to maximize my depth of field and shooting with no wider than F8. For hiking and landscape, I need a light weight, versatile lens, that is sharp. Any super-zoom, is going to have shortcomings, and if you pixel peep you'll find issues with this lens too, but pixel peeping is BS, because that's not how you really look at images. This lens for all practical purposes is very sharp and is far better than my old Nikon AF-S 24-120 F4 lens. Its VR works extremely well, and I appreciate the zoom lock for hiking. I wish it had a switch auto/manual focus, but not a big deal since I use back button focusing. Also, It would be nice if it had a switch for VR on the barrel, and lens coatings to minimize flare, but I guess Nikon was trying to keep the cost down. The bottom line, for landscape, hiking and traveling, this is the best option, and it will give you professional results, prints that could hang in a gallery and be sold.

Used to mistrust super-zooms, now thanks to this lens, I learned to embrace them

I always mistrusted super-zooms but purchased this one after a good friend, and avid fan of the Z-system, recommended it to me with enthusiasm. After my experience, I've changed my mind about super-zooms. Now, the good things about this lens are that it's light, reasonably sharp (I'm always shooting in AP at f8 to compensate) and tough enough. The aspects that I didn't quite like were that I sometimes wished for a larger aperture at both ends (at least f3.5-5.6), and a manual focus option, in addition to a closer minimum focusing distance. However, given the ratio of cost-benefit, and considering that this lens comprises a vast range of focal lengths, I won't complain. I've been quite happy with the performance of this lens and its extraordinary quickness at focusing, and the combo of Z6II and this lens helped me bring some pleasant images that I'll print and hang at home,

Should replace the Z 24-70mm f/4.0 in all Nikon kit packages

By Dean G.

I've owned Nikon cameras & lenses for over 40 years, preferring very fast primes & fast zooms. As I have gotten older & digital cameras have gotten "faster" sensors, I've been gravitating to slower, lighter weight lenses. This is the first "all purpose" zoom I've owned, & it really fills the bill for most shooting, even indoors. It replaced my Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4.0S lens (also a good lens), because in exchange for the loss of about one f-stop at 70mm, you get a free 80-200mm f/6.3 zoom.

Love this lens.
