I love this lens. It's built well. Not too skinny. Not too bulky. Takes excellent photos.

Love this telephoto lens with the R7. For the price, this is an insane combo. No weather sealing unfortunately but you will not be disappointed with its performance! AF can be unreliable and in low-light conditions but is still rather good, especially considering the price factor! I'm happy with it! And purchasing in the bundle you get a good deal overall.

This lens works great with my R7. Everything came as described in mint condition. The bundle is a great deal. I'm happy with the case, lens filters and cleaning accessories.

Great value, works perfectly for birding and wildlife at a price that is hard to beat. I hope they further expand the RF lineup in the future.

have had for 2 years, tested this against the 100-500 and the images were the same quality. liked the 22oz vs 36oz, smaller and faster to use.

It works perfectly with our R8 and, as expected, is much better than the EF-S 55 - 250mm on our EF cameras. We may want to try the RF 800mm later.

I am getting great results with and without the 2x extender. The lens is light enough for off-hand shooting, but go with support for that big reach. I like that I can get full throw from 100 to 400 with just a quarter turn of the barrel to get that perfect frame without mucking my focus or aim.

Purchased this a week ago and love it - great lens for those animal photos

A very good lens, especially for its pretty inexpensive, light weight, focus is fast. But oh that f/11 @400mm is so slow! I don't know if I can get 'use' to having to really turn up the ISO to get fast enough shutter to freeze motion of animals and birds. I almost gave it 3 stars.

Lightweight with a nice range for wildlife photography -- and it won't break the bank. I paired this with my Canon R8 and traveled to the Galapagos. The combo was easy to handle and produced some excellent images!

This is a great lens for the price. Light weight, compact, great for walking around. I used it with my Canon RP body, which was a nice all around set up. The quality of images, however, is not as good as my L series lenses, especially at the 400mm range. I returned the lens and opted for the 100-500mm.

I am writing this review as a previous owner of this lens because for whatever reason, it won't let me write a review for the RF200-800 lens, which I purchased to replace my RF100-400. That being said, I wish I still had this lens, for 3 main reasons: 1. This lens @ $649 + $450 2x extender (refurbished) is effectively the same focal length and aperture as the RF200-800 for ~$600 less. 2. The RF100-400 + 2x extender is VERY portable in comparison to the much larger RF200-800. 3. The RF200-800 has a much larger front lens and picks up a lot more dust than the RF100-400, so you will spend a lot more time trying to keep the RF200-800 clean. As far as image quality is concerned, I can't say the RF200-800 is noticeably better. This red tail hawk photo was taken with RF100-400 + 2x extender and is one of my favorites.

The best lens you can have is the one you have with you when you want to take a picture! Because of the compact size and low weight of this lens, you are likely to have it along on your nature hikes and adventures. Of course it would be worthless if it did not perform optically/photographically - have no fear, it performs very well! Very quick and silent auto focus, smooth zoom, and efficient vibration reduction. It has become my got to lens, or better said, my "take with" lens!

This is a very flexible lens, with a decent focus speed and reasonably quiet. It's a touch on the slow side, but for the cost involved that's to be expected. Image quality is very good, takes full advantage of the R5 45MP sensor. It's nice to have the control ring on these new RF lenses!

Lens is as advertised. Nice quality photos, just wish it had a further reach. Time for an extender. Always good service and price from Adorama.

I purchased an R6 Mark ii in November and only had the 24-105 mm lens. Which is fine but I needed a zoom lens. The other 100-400 mm white lenses were outside my budget. I was reluctant to buy this lens because, come on...it's $650. How good can that be? I've been pleasantly surprised with this lens as I'm learning to take bird photos. I think I want the 200-800 mm that is back-ordered/new next. I'm giving it 4.5 stars.

This is my favorite telephoto lens hands down. It represents fantastic value for camera lenses. I use this lens most often during the early evening or during the day. At periods around sunset you'll find that ISO needs to be increased. The 'slow' F-stop is usually a non-issue. Given the light weight of the lens and long zoom, it has become one of my favorites.

I've had the RF 100-400 for 3 months now. It's one of my favorite lenses. I use it on my Canon RP during daytime walks. This is a hobby of mine. I like capturing images of birds, butterflies, flowers, and landscapes. The autofocus is solid. I don't have a lens hood or an nd filter yet I just shoot the lens s is. It feels nice and solid. I like the control ring. Very enjoyable.
