Looks great!

It arrived in great condition, but I was unable to use it because I misread the information on its connections. Lesson learned, read the box!

Great unit for the money! A true bargain.

Been using these for several years now for product photography for my web site. Plenty of power for my application (musical instruments), and they have held up well and been very consistent. The one caveat that I would offer is to shoot a white balance if getting the color right is critical. I was using camera presets, and all my color matching problems went away when I started shooting white balances with the strobes. I don't know whether that's a common problem, but it's easily solved and the first thing I should have tried when color bias problems showed up.

Great lighting!

Super easy to use. Great for backlighting your subject! Use a cloth to make the lighting a little more "dim" during a front side portrait. WORKS great!!

Flashpoint Budget Studio Monolight Flash, 300 Watt Seconds

For educational purposes, this is more than enough. The flash is strong enough to get amazing results. It is easy to work with, there are no complicated functions on this. It suits my purposes, I am satisfied.

Outstanding Value!

Great Flash for serious amateurs. The only drawback is it doesn't have a Bowens mount. Adorama does have a very fine mount available to fit it. This is a great buy!

Good bang for the buck with smaller studios.

Good bang for the buck. (Too bad they discontinued the colored covers though.), They responded well in optical slave mode without any misfires.

I love it.

I think I could have bought more expensive gear and been less happy. It does exactly what I need it to do in a simple studio situation. Perfect in it's price range. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that I had connectivity issues that were easily (and also cheaply) rectified with adding a remote trigger system (my cameras weren't able to directly connect)

an Excellent Product -

For the price your getting a very nice studio flash. The 160 watt is plenty of flash for a home or small based studio. bought 1 to try and after use bought a second one because it functioned so well. flash and model light are perfect lighting. Well made and constructed, especially like the long power cord included. Well worth the 69 bucks and would strongly recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing !!

Flashpoint 300 economy studio Strobegreat buy!

Great portable units, have used my two strobes for three years on location and in studio. WELL BUILT, compact, pairs well with diffusion umbrellas. No proactive caps, I use small food storage bowls to cover the modeling lamp and element when in travel bag. Bowls and tool bag purchased at Walmart.

Lots of bang for the buck

This flash is a lot of bang for the buck. If it lasts for a normal lifespan, it will be one of our best purchases. Lots of power, light and slave ready.

Good budget strobe

These are what they are and they work well. Perfect for starting out. I have two and it is plenty light light for light studio work f/8 to f/11. I had to replace one the other day after 10 years of very light service. I used one alone in the meantime and I would say that you need two of these. More if you are shooting a big family on location. Still, they are worth it. My results are great with these. Only problem I’ve had is the slaves don’t always work, so I just tether them to my camera. More reliable that way.

This Light for the price is outstanding.

Super value for the price. There are really no cons except maybe that the modeling light is variable according power output. i.e. if you have dialed it down to the lowest setting the modeling light is barely visible. Other than that they are great. I have used many strobes over the years. If you do not need wireless 2.4 this is the way to go.

Just what I needed.

I needed a lightweight, yet powerful for outdoor portraits. It didn't need to have its own power source so this was perfect. It works great.

Very good for snooting and shaping accent light in the studio.

I live these for snooting and shaping light with barndoors. They;re great for rim lighting and as hair lights too. Anywhere you are tight on space but still need a monolight, consider these first.

Perfect for a small studio

Love this monolight. I’m a portrait photographer. I used this strobe for headshots and portraits sessions. It’s pretty powerful. I use the smallest set up. If you have a small studio like I do, this one is perfect for you.

Budget Flash

I have only used it a few times, but so far it has been dependable and recharges quickly, even on high.

Great value for the price

First, this is a Neewer/Godox 300WS monolight rebranded by Adorama. But since it is sold by Adorama, they guarantee it however I've had these beginning on 2014 and all are working perfectly. Output is consistant and recycle time is relatively quick (< 2 sec). I've used these as slave monolights with speedlghts and also triggered by wireless switches and all work well. For the price you really can't find a better deal

Quality at a low price.

I am a beginner photographer and I never dreamed I would be able to find a quality light so inexpensive. Now at least I look like a professional. I love it.

Great flash for the $$, but know the limitations....

By Brian M.

I'm a professional portrait (etc) photographer and needed a few of these (300w) for my photo booth business. As a test I did a portrait session with them even though I rarely use umbrellas and they work great. Wonderful starter kit or extra kick for whatever you're doing. Since they don't come with end caps to protect the bulbs I went to Lowe's and picked up a few 4" PVC caps. Added a few felt stick-on doo-dads to provide more friction and they work perfectly. It's a great light for the ...

Let's make a studio lighting setup.
We need a Main light, Fill light, Edge light, Hair light, Back light.
Light!

But heavy.
Heavy cost for getting great results. Pro gear is sophisticated and engineered to deliver spectacular, consistent color balanced lighting. But definitely not price sensitive. Heavy.

Welcome the Flashpoint Budget Studio Flash 300. The biggest and greatest feature laden member and leader of the family.

You won't be able to light up Madison Square Garden, but you will be able to achieve perfect pictures with the same effects and master touch that the expensive gear features for portraits, products and location imagery. And all the control of blending several flash heads in syncopated harmony for a fraction of the cost! Set up is a breeze and the lightweight unit stays cool under pressure. 300 watt seconds of power, modeling lamps, tremendous 4 stop output range, zippy recycle, and a punchy 190 guide number in a budget package. You simply cannot go wrong.

The Flashpoint Budget Studio family of moonlights, FPLFBF300W, FPLFBF160W, and the FPLFBF120W, are the solution for the budget minded strobist that wants to get results without compromising flash quality. With 300, 160 and 120 watts seconds respectfully, the AC powered monolights recycle rapidly with little amp draw. You can use them on household circuits without blowing fuses. Run them off our new Flashpoint Power Stat ion and you can bring them virtually anywhere.

Photographers and reviewers shower praises on the "price/power/feature ratio" of the Flashpoint models, over similar products on the market. Whether you are a fresh beginner or a frugal seasoned shooter these honeys will sweeten your studio hive.
