Bought the GoPro 6 for a trip to Zion and Hawaii! The video quality is absolutely amazing. I have yet to take it snorkeling in Hawaii but I am sure it will exceed my expectations!

I bought this for a 13 year old boy's 1st GoPro. He used the recommended memory cards and it has worked flawlessly. He absolutely loves it, and is glad we went for the 6.

I bought a GoPro Hero3 years ago and I hated it. It was clunky awkward to use with low quality video. Recently imdedecoded it was time to get a new video action camera and looked at several other brands but finally I decided to try the GoPro Hero6 Black a try. The Adorama return policy meant I could test it without feeling stuck if I didn’t like it. I love the touch screen. I love the format options and can quickly switch from wide screen to lineal and the app with perfectly on my iPhone 6s . I love it. I may buy a second one.

I hadn't really ever seen a GoPro up close but for some photography I need to do, I needed something to get in close for some shallow underwater photography. I did some looking into the GoPro and decided on the GPHero6. It is a nice little and I mean little unit. So far works well but I have not been out to give it the full trial yet because there is still ice up here in the slowly thawing north. A couple of things that don't show up in the product pages in Adorama or B&H is that you do need Android 5 or better. Most other items will still use Android 4. This necessitated my buying an up-to-date tablet, an unwanted expense. The instructions with the camera come with the now usual not all that helpful pictorial quick start booklet. You have to download the manual as is now standard. I found the connect-to-wifi section of the manual pretty minimal. After some fooling around, I got all working and all seems fine. You may see on the internet and from GoPro that the wifi signal will not work underwater. I tested this recently and found I could get a signal with the GP in about 1.5-2 inch of water over top of the unit. Fashioning a short antenna out of co-ax cable taped to the side of the unit might extend the depth (I only need it to go about 5 inches underwater). The wifi generator is on the left side above the ports. If you want to go deeper, there is a good video on how to do this at: https://clicklikethis.com/gopro-wifi-underwater/ Four stars due to the not-all-that-helpful pictorial startup guide, but the unit gets a 5, so far.

This camera works very good, easy to operate . It is very stable, it was mounted on a quad and the pictures were very smooth and clear. Going to mount it on my helmet going for a week end ride with the quad. So far all the videos and the pictures are very good.

I always need to have small "pocket cameras" that are ready to turn on and begin using without any consideration for focus etc. I also wanted something to mount on my Nikon D5 so that I could take video while shooting stills with the DSLR and the GoPro Hero 6 works very well for that "outside" it is very much lacking in low light interior situations and you should expect lots of noise in those situations. I found that it focuses as close as 12 inches, anything closer than that and it softens right up and is out of focus. Audio is marginal at best and you will need the audio-mic adapter if you will be using the audio from the GoPro and attach a real microphone. But that is to be expected for a camera that can already go directly into water and under-water. This camera does have some stutters and baffling freezes going on. I'm using SanDisk 64gb Extreme Pro Micro SD cards in this camera and had the camera FREEZE when formatting the card. I ultimately had to push and hold the on off button for 15 seconds to get the camera to shut down and reboot. So that was a failure point. I also set it up for a time lapse video sequence and it kept stopping after four recorded frames (time lapse video mode).. I had to shut it down and start again and it did then complete the sequence for the period I needed. Again, there is a bug somewhere. For slow motion, it's KING and is silky smooth. Image stabilization is fantastic and matches my Ronin stabilized video cameras in my opinion. I tested it out at a wedding last Saturday and set it for 24 fps video Linear mode.... extremely grainy/noisy indoor video. So unless you have a very well lit interior, this is not your B-Reel video camera for receptions. BUT, if you have an outdoor event, or lots of natural light, it's going to add lots of great video sequences while you are taking photos with your DSLR. You can "zoom" the field of view and I suggest you do that so you don't see your 70-200mm zoom lens hood in the frame. There are lots of times I wanted to get video and stills at the same time and this does it for me! The menu is easy to read and use, thumb swipe right to left and you can turn on or off the stabilization and vid mode very easily. Get the GoPro Battery Charger (charges two batteries at once) and have three batteries with you so you can change them out when you have a moment. You can get a couple of hours out of the camera on a single charge, I've left it outside for time lapse sequences and had it go for four hours before shutting down. Solid build, no focus options, of course, so no soft bokeh unless you get one of those cheap aftermarket macro lenses which I don't like as they are just not a decent quality yet. Cheaper than a second shooter and will pay for itself in a single wedding :) Flawless outdoor daylight videos, not ready for interior "pro level" captures at all. For an action camera, there is nothing better in my opinion. Hopefully, in their next design, there will be a built-in jack for professional microphones without the GoPro Audio adapter! Four Stars due to the freezing and need to re-start from time to time. If that happened when you needed it quick, you'll miss the moment completely.
