I rented a Nikon D810 for a landscape photography workshop and needed a way to attach the camera to my tripod/ballhead. I had hoped to find a used L-bracket, but procrastinated too long. This Kirk model fit the D810 well and got me through 6 days of shooting and hiking in Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Now that I have the bracket, I just need my own D810 ... or D850 (and a different bracket?)

This bracket makes using the D810 / 14-24mm f2.8 lens combo a pleasure on the tripod. It takes up a bit of pack room, but is very light, very nicely machined, fits the D810 well, feels good in the hand, and solidly mounts and dismounts from my Arca-Style Photo Clam ballhead. Changes from horizontal to vertical compositions are made very quickly, without needing the ballhead tilted in the 90 degree position and off-balancing the tripod. For architectural interiors in tight spaces, and for stitched panoramas, this bracket pays for itself.

I have been buying and using (and sometimes abusing) Kirk Brackets since the Nikon D100. They fit precisely and hold up to anything I have thrown at them. My only nit to pick on any of them is the price, but I suspect the captive audience has something to do with that.

A USA made product displaying outstanding quality and fits the D800 perfectly. I have several Kirk products and they are all excellent in terms of functionality.

I have had the Nikon d700 version of this product for about two years. Good well made product that fits well as does this d800 l bracket. Light weight.

I did a lot of research before I bought an L-bracket and finally settled on the Kirk. The feature that gave it the edge for me was the fact that I could still access the side panel of the D800 to attach an HDMI cable without having to loosen and move the bracket. Overall, it's very solidly built and fits like a glove on the D800/E. It's a Kirk, I'd expect nothing less :)

The Kirk L-Bracket for Nikon D800 and D800E allows you to switch from portrait to landscape orientation and vice versa with your D800 or D800E - efficiently, without the need to tilt your ball head and re-level the shot.
On both of its sides, the lightweight aluminum BL-D800 L-Bracket is compatible with Arca-Swiss-style quick-release clamps. It mounts to the bottom of the camera via a standard 1/4"-20 screws. The single piece of machined 6061TG aluminum preserves your access to the battery compartment and the camera strap loop.
