I bought this mount at the NYC store in a pinch as I had some gear stolen by the airlines on the way up. I use it at the end of a very nice, uncabled, graphite K-Tek boom pole. At the tip of the pole, just before the mount, my cable is securely tied and does not move. This is common practice with any shock mount that does not include a way to lock down the cable. Despite this, a good deal of handling noise is transmitted into my microphones. Additionally, the rubber bands provide no grip on my microphones, which are of a standard diameter for small diaphragm condensers. I was pulling my mics back into the mount every 15 minutes--and I was only taking a few steps here and there in a small living room!
