Given this is a manual lens, focal depth is extremely important. Unfortunately, when taking pictures of deer standing within 3 feet of one another, one was in focus and the other out of focus. When attempting astro photos from a tripod, I could not get the moon or stars to properly focus either.

as stated in the title this lens represented a point on the compromise curve: very low cost, good physical construction, mediocre image quality. When shooting against any light background the vignetting is strong enough to make post processing a hassle. Sharpness in the dead center is also visibly worse than premium super telephoto lens. The other problem is the sheer difficulty of getting a good focus. I was trying to put it on infinity when shooting the moon, and it felt like that the focus ring needs to be placed with very high precision. I needed to do a 'focus bracketing'. Because of the low cost, I have to give this 4 stars rather a lower score reflecting its image quality. before you buy, check out all the reviews on the internet and think about your priority.
