Used Rotolight NEO II On-camera LED Lighting Fixture, Light and Flash Modes

I bought this in hopes to add to my lighting capabilities for events, but I've used it just once and put it back in the box. The hype was way more than what it can do.

Summary. Great light source for close subjects and fill light in low light level situations. I use it shoot kittens playing in the garden area and the results are wonderful, in my opinion. No temp correction required in post, good out of the box. Simple to use with a table top tripod, lightweight and easy to use and transport. So good, this is my second one, my first is the Neo first gen. The only difference is this one puts out a little more light. Both are a good value.

The Rotolight Neo II is a very versatile light for all types of photo and video work. As a portrait photographer, I find it to indispensable for on location portraits. The ability to control the power and color temp from the Skyport transmitter make it extremely convenient. The HSS flash mode yields awesome results.

When i first opened the bag i was very impressed. I did test it out and i love it. Hoping to use at a wedding reception due to the lighting being very low light. Hope to buy more Roto lights in the future.

This light has a good light and super light. Where this light really works is changing the light temperatures. I really enjoy having battery power or DC plug in based on the shoot. As for the speed of the flash can keep up with most cameras buffers. We also use this light for fill lighting and works fantastic. Word of note this light for a flash doesn't have power of some of those strobe have.

This light is certainly bright, and emits a soft and desirable light on subjects. The added features for strobing and special effects like lightning and fire are such a cool feature as well, definitely a must for any kit in my opinion! Will probably buy another one later on!

I've seen so many video's on the Neo II that I had to have one to try it for my self. Well it worked just like Jason Lainer said it would and my photographs have turned out great. It lasts and lasts with just the 6 AA rechargeable batteries and never misses a shot. I'd say that as a modeling light this is almost as good if not better than a stand a lone modeling light. It does everything that a photographer would want done. It's great.

It was just as described. No remote control which somewhat limits its usefulness to on camera. It didn’t ship out on the day I ordered it, so before it arrive I found a better alternative, and returned the Rotolight.

Very pleased with my purchase. Great light for portrait, weddings and events. Skin tones look spot on in camera, the light is soft and easy to use. Easy to control, and nice to have the options of diffusers if I want them. Not heavy, this is now one of the go-to options in my bag.

This is a game changer for flash photography, especially in conjunction with the Elinchrom Trigger and the AEOS Rotolights as well. It can be used for photography AND video.

In my opinion Its not really for serious pro photographers.... maybe it’s ok for video usage. and it’s also not the best for beginners.... if your in between and on a budget then I say just get the best used mono lights as they have more power and less confusing. I personally returned mine the day I received it. The rotolight is a great concept but it wasn’t for me.

it works well in dawn at the Haleakala summit for sunrise portrait, modeling light or flash, as it illuminates the skin well. With wide angle lens and a close distance of model in front of the camera, the illuminating benefit on skin is real. Naturally? in jungle and cave, this light also shines. With different gel filter as provided, skin shows better than i expected. with the provided pouch attached to my belt, this is very portable. The benefit achieve its optimal point for dawn and dusk photograph, somehow in cloudy island time as it could NOT overcome the harsh sun light when facing the sun directly. For indoor lighting photo, it should be a plus for sure. i recommend it for easy travel as it's more versatile than old fashion flash. i used it with a cord off a $5 PC adapter to make the remote control obsolete as i can hold the handle to mount it to a L shaped handled to the tripod mount,
