This review is of the rangefinder for converting dual focus anamorphic setups to single focus. The benefit of this product over the FM Lens is that this can be attached to the front of any lens, not just the ones that fit a specific diameter. Set up is easy, focus your dual lens setup to infinity and then attach the rangefinder. The build quality of this lens is impressive. Very well made and a buttery smooth focus ring. Although it almost has too levels of looseness. One is from infinity to 6' and from 6' to close is a little easier to turn, nothing major. The bad: chromatic aberration galore. I used this with a Sankor 16f, multiple different taking lenses (multicoated and no coating), different T-Stops and different calibration setups. There is so much chromatic aberration that I almost returned it. This is not usable until you get to T/4-5.6. It isn't good until T/6. If you plan to use this (even though the product specifically recommends you don't) at T/2.8 or faster, expect very CA images. Even at T/5.6 you are getting a lot of imperfections. At the end of the day, all of the optical imperfections of the lens are trumped by the fact that I now have single focus anamorphic at a reasonable price.

The SLR Magic Rangefinder CINE Adapter is an optical device with integrated follow focus gears. When attached to a compatible taking lens, one could override the focus control of the taking lens with the Rangefinder's built-in focus ring. Provides calibrated focus markings from 3'6 ft (1.1M) to Infinity. Highly recommended for users wanting to have single focus capability on the SLR Magic Anamorphot series of adapters, currently 1.33x and 2x.
Furthermore the Rangefinder CINE adapter can be placed on many taking lenses to offer those wanting to have "cinema like" manual focus capability on auto-focus lenses. Like many SLR Magic products, the Rangefinder CINE adapter is crafted using black anodized metal to the highest standard.
