The Sony A6700, announced in July 2023, takes some of the high-end features of Sony’s full-frame cameras and puts them into a compact, professional-level crop-sensor body that is more than capable of satisfying any creator who demands the most from a compact, affordable camera. By using the same sensor and processor found in the popular FX30 Cinema Camera, the A6700 offers excellent video and photo quality, with burst shooting up to 11 fps and 4 K/120p video capture. A fully articulating LCD screen is perfect for vlog-style content or any creator who often shoots at odd angles, and numerous other in-camera features, like an internal microphone and in-camera Creative Looks, make this an excellent choice for vloggers. These incredible in-camera features make this an excellent entry-level camera that is just as good for pros as it is for beginners. If you’re looking for a camera that offers full-frame capabilities at a crop-sensor price point, the Sony A6700 might be just the camera for you.

A 26.0MP Exmor R CMOS Back-Illuminated Sensor offers both fantastic image quality and realism, along with low-light performance that far exceeds that of many of its crop-sensor competitors. An ISO range of 100-32000 gives over 14 stops of dynamic range, making this sensor an excellent choice for creators of all genres. The sensor is paired with Sony’s BIONZ XR Processor, which is seen paired with the same sensor in Sony’s FX30 Digital Cinema Camera. This combination delivers impressive video and photo performance, along with excellent autofocus tracking, even in low-light conditions.

4K/120p in 10-bit 4:2:2 uses advanced XAVC HS and XAVC S-I formats that give full pixel readout from the sensor, allowing you to create cinematic video in 4K. Internal heat dissipation enables over 2 hours of continuous 4K/30p recording, and a quickly adjustable Slow & Quick (S&Q) mode gives novice shooters more flexibility for capturing slow motion on the fly. You can also apply Creative Looks to the video to create a specific mood or feeling without post-production. For more experienced shooters, S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine Gamma Curves can offer more than 14 stops of dynamic range for greater control in post-production, matching the powerful S-Log3 found in some of Sony’s top-end cinema cameras.

Creators who aim to capture fast-moving scenes will appreciate 11 fps in continuous burst shooting and up to 59 compressed RAW images before buffering. 759 phase detection autofocus points while shooting stills, and 495 points in video cover 93% of the image sensor, paired with an AI-powered subject recognition performance and real-time tracking to ensure tack-sharp images even with fast-moving action.

A new front command dial gives shooters customizable control at the forefront of the camera. An integrated EVF on the edge of the camera body helps the A6700 fit easily into a bag and fill a much smaller footprint, while a 3” 1.03m Vari-Angle LCD touchscreen offers creators a fantastic screen that can be rotated in just about any angle, perfect for selfie-style shooting or capturing images and videos at odd angles. Regarding ports, the A6700 is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone and microphone port, one USB-C port, and an HDMI port, and also supports Bluetooth, which can easily connect to a smartphone and Sony’s Creators’ Cloud app to share and store media.

In addition to the already mentioned fully articulating screen, an AI-Enhanced Framing feature recognizes and tracks subjects during recording and automatically crops the image to maintain the perfect positioning of your subject. This mode can be easily turned on and off with a single custom button, making it perfect for solo creators who need to shoot on the go. 5-Axis optical image stabilization works for both photos and videos, ensuring your photos are sharp and your videos are smooth. This system is algorithmically optimized for precision detection down to the pixel level.

The camera supports internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording in the S-Log3 format with 14+ stops of latitude and S-Cinetone. The a6700 will shoot up to 4K/60p from its full sensor width (oversampled from 6K) or up to 120p from a 1.58x cropped region.
