The Sony HVL-F46RMA GN46 Wireless Radio Control External Flash is a compact yet powerful flash unit designed to seamlessly integrate with the latest Sony camera technology. This high-output GN46 flash delivers exceptional performance, offering reliable flash synchronization at high continuous shooting speeds and shutter speeds up to 1/80000 second. In High Speed Sync (HSS) mode, it supports shutter speeds ranging from 1/400 to 1/8000 second, providing photographers with the flexibility to capture fast-moving subjects and creative lighting effects.
Engineered for intuitive operation, the HVL-F46RMA features a user-friendly camera interface, quick shift bounce capability, and advanced wireless radio communication, ensuring refined control and versatility in various shooting scenarios. The flash unit's intelligent communication with Sony's a series cameras enhances image quality by optimizing illumination across a wide range of applications. This integration allows for precise light control and consistent GN46 output, catering to professional lighting needs.
The HVL-F46RMA supports focal lengths from 24mm to 105mm, with a wide panel extending coverage to 15mm. Its flash control is linked to camera face detection, automatically adjusting white balance to render natural skin tones, even in group shots. This auto white balance accuracy is achieved through in-house design, transferring color temperature data to the camera for precise adjustments.
Designed for fast recycle times and dependable high-speed continuous flash, the HVL-F46RMA can deliver over 320 flashes with a 2.0-second recycle time using four batteries. Its innovative overheating prevention system, featuring heat-resistant materials and an optimized flash algorithm, allows for extended shooting sessions without interruption. This system offers approximately 1.7 times greater resistance to overheating compared to previous models.
The HVL-F46RMA excels in stable high-speed continuous flash shooting, providing flash support for up to 60 frames in high-speed bursts at up to 10 fps with compatible cameras. It minimizes missed frames due to flash sync failure, ensuring reliable performance. The flash unit also supports per-frame P-TTL flash control, adapting to changing light conditions during continuous bursts.
Enhanced operability is achieved through flexible bounce angle adjustment, allowing the flash head to be angled 180 degrees left or right, 150 degrees up, or 8 degrees down. Comprehensive control is available directly from compatible cameras, with flash compensation ratio and other parameters easily adjustable via custom keys and the intuitive dot-matrix display.
Built for durability, the HVL-F46RMA features a metal shoe foot with a rugged side frame, enhancing the strength and reliability of the Multi Interface Shoe. Its dust and moisture-resistant design ensures high reliability in outdoor conditions, with additional sealing for certain a series bodies.
Versatile radio wireless communication is supported at distances up to 30 meters (98.4 feet), providing stable, error-free communication even around obstacles. The HVL-F46RMA can control up to 15 flash and/or receiver units in 5 groups, and it supports slow sync, rear-curtain sync, and multi-flash functions. For added flexibility, it can communicate with non-radio-equipped flash units via the optional FA-WRC1M commander and/or FA-WRR receiver.
