The PMW-50 SxS field deck supports mobile XDCAM HD422 video production applications. Since the introduction of the PMW-100/200/500 series camcorders, use of SxS memory camcorders has rapidly increased. For example, in broadcast news operations, a portable recording deck which works as an operation hub in the field is certainly an invaluable asset. The PMW-50 SxS field deck allows users to playback and view content (via a 3.5-inch LCD panel) recorded on an SxS memory card, copy the data on an SxS card to other storage devices, and record an external SDI signal or convert a signal from SDI to i.LINK, and more.
Through USB and i.LINK interfaces, both file-based and streaming operations are supported. Upcoming capabilities such as the ability to copy data from an SxS memory card to an external storage device such as a USB hard drive will also help users minimize their operational costs. The PMW-50 supports a range of formats, including MPEG HD422 50Mbps (MXF) and MPEG HD420 35Mbps (MP4). The PMW-50 can also function as an ingest machine to an NLE system.
