Very light and very good quality at a decent price! I got this lens to be able to use my Sony A7IV more often, both casually and during travel. So far, I've used it for a short film project and it proved very well. For wide angles, it captures details very well.

What a gem. For the price the Tamron prime series for Sony is quite possibly the best on the market. Yes, the autofocus is a little noisy, but it's pretty quick and super accurate. The 24mm is a perfect wide angle for daily and travel photography. It's super short and light. With a fast f/2.8 it even does well at astrophotography. All the better, Tamron standardizes a 67mm thread, so don't. Other buying another set of filters. If you want a great budget wide angle, this is it!

This lens has been great to shoot on, it?s sharp lightweight and a GREAT PRICE!!! The one thing that I don?t like as much is that it?s a little loud when using autofocus in video. I don?t mind the noise in photography but video could be an issue for the internal or on camera mounted mic to pick up. Either way I would still recommend it for anyone looking for a great 24mm Prime.

This lens can be easily overlooked because it is fairly stripped down. No aperture setting...all fly by wire. By now everyone should be used to it. I have never had problems using it. This lens is special for two reasons. This lens is CHEAP...and this lens has AMAZING optics. This is not an easy combination to find in todays photography world. I have a Sony A7RIV, and I have to pass up on a lot of lenses I would otherwise take more seriously, but my sensor will show all optical flaws. So, I have chosen very carefully to only purchase the best glass I can. I have three primes and one zoom. This gem is now my fourth. To my absolute surprise...this lens is optically outstanding...my sensor approves of this lens. I believe I paid less that $200 for it. Frankly...it's a STEAL at it's listed price. I wasn't looking for a 24mm since I always used my Sony 20mm f/1.8 to handle wide shots. But for what this lens can produce optically and at the price...I figured why not? Glad I did...

I like this lens best for its close focusing ability. The 1:2 ratio and wide angle of view are great for a different perspective. It?s also quite light and very affordable. It has a bit of CA but not bad really, and it is quite sharp in the center.

Tamron 24mm f2.8 is an excellent prime lens at very affordable price. It's sharp, with f2.8 still can get Beautiful Bokeh on this lens. If Tamron wants to keep 67mm lens filter size, why they don't do f2.0 or f1.8 which will be much fast. However, I love this lens, with another Tamron 28-200mm lens, I can go anywhere, both indoor and outdoor.

A good high quality lens and a very good value. I also use it on a APS-C camera for a very capable 35mm equivalent standard lens.

The lens is very light, with a small glass diameter and surprisingly at $180 has a metal mount. This is my 4th Tamron lens, the optical performance of this product from very good to excellent. The only concern I have with this new FE mount product is very tight fit on cameras body which cost about $2.000.

Bought this lens with Sony a7R II. This new 24mm f/2.8 fits very tight on cameras bayonet. The optical quality and overall performance is good, the lens feels very light. Considering the price I would give 5 stars for optical performace and autofocus, it is right on and fast enough. But I would be conscious putting a $180 lens on $1,800 camera body with such force, for that I would give 1 star. I have previously used few Tamron lenses and I was very satisfied with the results and lens build quality, never had such issue.

Great budget lens for the Sony e-mount. I especially like the close focusing macro feature of this lens. You can also get sharp images from this lens. Only downside is that the focus motor is a bit noisy but liveable if using an external microphone for video. Otherwise it’s a buy.

This is a brilliant lens with a very affordable price tag. Light, small, easy to carry around even as a backup lens. I've done some test with this lens on my A7Rii. Pro: - sharp, might be the sharpest 24mm I've seen and used so far - light, small - limited CA and manageable distortion - bokeh is nicer than I expected - In super APS-C mode you get a 35mm equivalent still with excellent sharpness if on a 42MP body Con: - Loud AF breath - Hard to find AF when shooting against light (not specific to this lens but a typical issue) Overall I really like this lens, as a travel or street photography lens. This lens can get good use for macro as well but I barely shoot macro. The only big issue is the AF breath. I shoot mostly still so the AF breath is not an issue but if you plan to shoot video with this lens better have an external mic otherwise the AF noise will be captured by the camera mic easily and will be difficult to erase them in post editing.

Don't expect it to be built like a tank. It is plastic and not metal, but I suspect that's to help with the weight and porttability. If you're wanting something that performs like a 24mm G Master, then save up for the G Master. It does a good enough job for the price point. Lastly, the autofocus is a bit slower than expected, but it is accurate. Most landscape shots I do are done with manual focus anyway. It would be better to think of this lens as a wide angle macro than a landscape or environmental portrait lens, in my opinion. If you want a decent weather-sealed, wide angle option, go for it. If you expect premium performance, pay premium price for something else.
