Was trying to keep the budget tight when I was first transitioning into video, but wish I had invested in something nicer. It's solidly built, but the performance of the pans and tilts leave a lot to be desired. I'm currently researching for an upgrade and plan to relegate this one for locked off second angle shots.

A terrific tool for photo/video purposes. Had that for 7 years in harsh weather conditions and now bought it again! Highly recommended! The only downside is on its weight side - too heavy.

Smooth tilt and pan with this, plus extra long base for larger cams.

What can I say? Manfrotto is the shiz. I had an older Manfrotto tripod with a tension head but needed a video head for my cinema camera. This gave me the flexibility to use my tripod for both photo and video without having to purchase a new super expensive tripod and head combo.

very well built and very easy to use. Love the versatility of having the arm on both sides and 3/8" mounting points. Can easily counterbalance most DSLR rigs.

Purchased this to use on my dana dolly, and it works perfectly! Easily supports my C200 and BlackMagic. The mounts on the side of the head are perfect to supporting monitors / batteries / etc. to reduce the weight of the camera and keep the center of gravity lower.

Ordered to pair with a BMPCC6k, nice tripod for video. Wished it came with a bag, but not a dealbreaker.

Amazing deal and amazing quality/performance. My local shop tried to sell me another tripod for the same price but this manfrotto beats it by far

This tripod has been great. I was surprised how sturdy the legs felt, even fully extended, especially since this doesn?t have a mid-level spreader and are technically considered photo legs. For video, however, this tripod is more portable than having traditional video legs yet it feels just as sturdy. The pan drag on the fluid head will certainly change your life. Now I can get smooth panning shots even at 70mm by changing the drag. On my old tripod this was tough since more drag is needed the more zoomed in you are to get the shot at the same smoothness. Certainly recommended to anyone shooting video and who doesn?t have a good tripod yet!

Easy to use pan tilt are smooth. Find the precise drag in cold environments not so good, either to loose or just a bit tight. In a warmer environment it is good.

Great alternative to a gimbal at half the price. I use this with a Sigma 150-600mm Sigma lens and my Canon M6 Mark ii. I remove the arm and it works wonderful after a quick balance. My only complains are extra plates are a bit expensive and long. You can always add a quick disconnect plate if you are a pro, but for a hobbyist I just need functional. My next complaint is the head can slowly move over time if you do not tightly secure the locks. It sort of drops during long exposures. However, it IS a video head so I am sure that is part of the package.

I needed a better video head to help film our live stream for our school's football games. I am filming using a Canon Rebel T7i with a telescopic lens. I was using a cheap photo tripod. It was not very fluid; it was very jerky and hard to catch a good shot of any action. We also had to hold the camera in place the entire game, as it was not balanced. With the Manfrotto, it was very fluid and gave us great smooth video. Because there is a way to balance the camera, we didn't have to hold the camera during the entire game. It really saved our arms. There is a little clicking when you release the drag; however, once you set it where you want it, then you won't need to adjust it until after you are finished filming. I would recommend this product to anyone that plans on filming. It's a great product at a great price.

Sturdy tripod, stable video head. I have no gripe with this unit, nor with the delivery process. Great purchase considering what I previously using.

Significant improvement over non-fluid head. Overall a big step up. Only downside is inconsistent tension when panning 360 degrees. There is a sector that gets much easier to move, then back to firm. Tried re-adjusting the tension, but unable to get consistent resistance. That said, it is a big improvement for me. I do only have about 10 hours of taping soccer games in so far. I may improve my use of the video head over time.

Haven’t used a huge number of fluid heads, and though the build quality is super solid and the tilts and pans are smooth, might not be my first choice for DSLR filmmaking. This thing is a monster. I’m keeping mine, since it will be a good head to grow into as my gear gets more professional and heavier, but be sure to check the specs on this if you don’t need something that can handle a ton of weight.

Figured out how to balance the tilt and now all is good.
By MICHAEL H.
Once I figured out how to balance my camera (5D M3 + 70-200mm f2.8L), the tilt works like a charm. Just have to slide the camera forward a little bit so it becomes "front-heavy". However, tilting all the way down still has some backlash. Not a big deal for me because I'm not going to shoot at such inclined angles, but if that's what you require, then you might have to figure out a better way to achieve a good balance. Wish the pan bar was longer because panning at telephoto focal lengths ar...
