I thought the Nikon MB-D10 was just an over-priced simple piece of plastic and that any other brand could make one just as good for a lot less. Completely false! This grip gives you a good vertical grip and the expected functions as in the original version (shutter, focus-on, speed and aperture dials and pad+ok button + 2nd battery with higher continuous shooting speed rate). But after a couple of months of normal cautious use, it's just become a plastic grip with a shutter button. ALL other buttons stopped working completely. And the battery when used in it is depleted twice as fast as when used in camera. Get the real one!

After about 6 months of use this device became jammed on the base of my camera and it took quite a lot of work to get it off. There is just too much plastic in this unit. Save yourself the hassle and get a Nikon grip. I have had one for a few years now Ian's it has served me well

I got mine three years ago for my D700, and have never shot without it since. I have the Nikon MB-D11 for my D7000 and can't see the slightest difference in quality between Nikon and Vivitar. The grip makes shooting vertical very nearly identical to shooting landscape, saving my wrists and making vertical framing more convenient and accurate. It also provides a more solid feel and balance to the D700. Last, but certainly not least, by using eight AA batteries I up my frame rate to 8 per second -- a significant aid to sports and wildlife shots. Highly recommended. Quality equivalent to Nikon for a fraction the cost.

The Vivitar Deluxe Power Grip holds 2 ENEL3E batteries, providing you with twice the power of a normal battery. It also includes an adapter that allows you to place 6 AA batteries for extended shooting time. The Power Grip provides a vertical shutter release button, and easy power on/off switch. This option makes shooting with the camera in a vertical position just as comfortable as shooting horizontally. The Power Grip attaches through the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera.
