Born in Portugal and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Nuno Bettencourt's journey into music began in his teenage years, exploring drums, bass, and keyboards before finding his true calling in the guitar. Bettencourt's illustrious career includes his role in the Boston-area group Extreme, where he recorded five CDs and delivered the hits "More Than Words" and "Hole Hearted". His musical journey also includes a solo CD, the formation of the groups Mourning Widows and Population 1 (later known as DramaGods), and a stint with Satellite Party, formed by Perry Farrell. After Extreme disbanded in 1995, they reunited in 2007 to headline Washburn's 125th Anniversary Party at Winter NAMM 2008. From 2009-2013, Bettencourt joined Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Rihanna as music director and lead guitarist on her world tour, playing to hundreds of thousands of fans across Europe and the U.S.
