WD BLACK P50 500GB USB Type-C External Gaming SSD

I purchased this drive assuming I could play games from it. They boast the fact that that's possible. I own a series X and I can't store any optimized game. Who needs 2 terabytes for old games???? You REALLY need to be more clear w the fact that it will not play optimized games. Who just stores games to have to move them later. It's really redundant. Feels like a trick. I could've just gotten the Xbox/seagate expansion and never had an issue. Now I've wasted money on a drive I can't use for anything useful. An expensive paperweight.

I am not sure why it is so hard to find the TBW spec for P50 4TB SSD. Is there something to hide 9or couldn't be disclosed? If anyone knows what that is please leave a comment. Thank you.

I received this and it is just perfect for my needs. It is compact it size and lightweight. I can take it anywhere with me. It can go right in my pocket. It has a good size memory. Perfect for my gaming needs. Easy to use. Plug in and go. I am super happy with this.

One of the very few that i have seen so sturdy built and Great looking SSD. Simple and compact design. Strong built and high performance if be very big highlight of this SSD. Speeds were incredibly fast on my MAC M1 and also with the MBP which is also relatively new. Very impressed with the speeds when i use it as my streaming SSD with my PLEX or stick it for my gaming purposes. Definitely a great value buy

Super fantastic drive. I have it currently attached to my PS5 and it's blazing fast. I love the transfer and download rates. Usb c and usb3 plugs too which are convenient. The drive feels like it could be run over with a tank and survive. It's made of aluminum or steel. Very light weight. Makes u believe the info inside is well taken care of. Thanks WD

Easy to use and install. It has a USB port that makes it a breeze to connect. I connected my to a PS4. Once connected, all I had to do was follow the prompts for the PS4 to use it. If you are already familiar with how to transfer, it's a few steps and done.

If you're looking for a SSD that is truly fast enough for newer systems then look no further.The speeds are fast and I'm never having to deal with irritating lags. It's really a nice design and a good quality. I feel it's a good price point for what you get specifically in in n performance. It does seem to get be a tad hot but nothing extreme by any means. Could not be more pleased overall. It's easy to install/use. Great product

Though the branding is focused on being a gaming drive, this really functions as an all around fast storage device. USB-C connection is ideal for connectivity and speed as well as the tough outer casing that gives you plenty of confidence when traveling with it. Personally I have been using this as backup storage that I can edit video off of and it has served me extremely well in my time testing it. Overall this is a great buy if you're looking for something that is fast and reliable.

This has been a bit of a life saver for my Steam account saves. It also has made it easier if I wanna go and play on a friends PC logging into my account and having all my saves on my external hard drive. 10/10 would get again

Got this a week ago and it's the first solid state drive I've ever owned. If you have never owned one before i highly recommend it. Transfer speeds are light years faster than any sdd. Easily integrated and installed with previous hard drive and windows phone 10 build.

The WD Black P50 is pretty fast for an external portable SSD. It has a slim design and the shock resistant cover seems pretty durable and keeps it well protected. It can be used on desktops, laptops, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. It brings a USB Type-C and a Type-A cable. Very easy to format into NTFs or exFat32. The guide in the box also contains a detailed quick installation guide that was helpful and easy to follow. Easy plug and play and very convenient and useful to download the utilities offered by WD to check the drives health or to perform maintenance tasks. So far it has proved to be able to complete the job efficiently and it's easy to use and manage. I'm currently using it to game on my pc and found it offers pretty good speeds.

I got this for my partner who plays tons of games, and this is just exactly what he was looking for so he can have enough space for all his gaming needs. It was not complicated to use, and was just exactly what he needs.

So, today I will be reviewing the WD P50 500 GB SSD game drive. I have been using this on my PS4 due to lack of space and multitude of games on my system, but this external SSD can be used with just about anything from your pc, PlayStation and Xbox. This is a pretty solid SSD with a rugged metal shell with a plastic bottom with cut outs for heat dissipation. The SSD has one USB-C connector input but comes two cables, a USB-C to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-A cable and it is pretty much just play and play. I was easily able to access the hard drive on my laptop as well as my PS4. So, like I had mentioned earlier I primarily got this to use with my PS4 and clean up some space on the unit by transferring some games over to the SSD and I was easily able to do so, but it did take some time. It took nearly 2 hours to transfer over about 200 GB over to the SSD and I was still able to play the games from the SSD without any issues and my games actually loaded a lot faster then they before, so the transferring time made up for it on the loading end. The SSD does advertise up to 2000 MB/s or 2 GB/s but you have to keep in mind that your equipment that you are using needs to be able to support that as well. For my purpose, using this on the PS4 actually worked out pretty well and my games did load up faster than before. I also transferred some pictures that I had from my PC to the SSD and again I had no problem doing so and since the file sizes was relatively small, I was able to move those over in matter of minutes. Overall, the SSD has worked out great, it has cleared up some space on my PS4 and has helped in loading my games faster as well as cleaning up some space on my laptop as well.

What a fast little drive! I do a lot of graphic design work, which includes a lot of content and photos so my computer was full! This helped speed up the entire process, was easy to install, easy to use and a new go-to for all the peers in my industry.

It's good, but even having a good cooling and temperature in my room it some times throttles, and had some problem with my pc games, most of them being there, in the drive, but not showing anywhere in my pc, and when going to steam or other platform to play them they showed as if they weren't installed.
