Shopper : Is this drive compatible with the Window Vista system?SCOTT K : i use with vista, works great!!!DATA M : According to what I found on the Western Digital site, it IS compatible. WD externals work with my old "XP" machines and my desktop with "7". So, I'm pretty sure that if they'll work with my older stuff, they should work with Vista. Nice built portable hard drive

Tranfer rate is pretty fast with USB3.0. I formatted it anyway even though it was not required in Windows platform. Haven't really start using it. But tested 2GB files tranferring, speed is very impressive.

First time using so questions but happy

While I would recommend purchasing, it seemed to have a life of its own on installation, backing up files with speed without my selection and not obvious how to undo this.

Great, compact external hard drive

Needed a compact, portable high capacity external hard drive that is easy to use for storage of photo files. Fits the bill perfectly so far.
